Banfield Pet Hospital

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO BANFIELD. IT IS A MONEY MAKING MACHINE W/ LITTLE REGARD FOR THE CONSUMER OR THEIR PET. THEY ARE GREAT AT SELLING THEIR "CARE(HA) PLAN AND NOT REFUNDING THE PROPER AMOUNT WHEN YOU CANCEL DUE.

I cancelled the plan 13 days after paying for a year up front (I was the fool there). I was told at the time of signing that I would get a full refund minus the services I had used. I had used a round of shots for my puppy including the bordetella vaccine but the vet did not inform me of the proper amount of time recommended from vaccine to boarding - they knew I was boarding the puppy in 3 days at PetSmart. So, do you think this is conflict of interest?

When the puppy got sick within several days of the boarding I returned to have him examined and treated for coughing, sneezing, sniffling and having trouble swallowing plus what i suspected was a UTI. The vet did a quick exam and they ran a urinalysis. They said they'd have the results the next day but wanted me to purchase medication then. I said I'd wait until the results of the test.

Next day a receptionist calls and tells me to pick up meds as the pup did have a UTI. NO ONE EVER ADDRESSED THE OTHER SYMPTOMS EXCEPT ONCE DURING THE EXAM THE VET ASKED IF HE HAD RECENTLY BEEN BOARDED AND WHEN I SAID HE WAS AT PETSMART SHE CONVENIENTLY DROPPED THIS AVENUE.

Two days later I could clearly see that the puppy was sicker so I took him to a local vet with 30 yrs experience. He did a very thorough exam and said he had an upper respiratory that most likely came from kenneling due to the time frame and the fact that the dog had not been anywhere else. By now he had a fever of 104. He gave him a shot of antibiotic that would expedite him feeling better and gave him medication that would treat both illnesses. Yes, he also still had the UTI. In addition to the meds he told me to give the dog Vitamin C due to the acidity level shown on the test. Dog started to improve that evening and is fine now.

I was extremely unhappy with the exam, the treatment and the attitude of the manager of the Commack facility named Jenn. She was arrogant and rude when I called to complain. I got a true run-around from every phone number in corporate and NO ONE COULD GO THROUGH THE INVOICE LINE BY LINE. It was the pass-the-phone game so that if I got disconnected enough and transferred enough or was put on hold for as long as 10 minutes perhaps I'd go away. I have spent 3 different days trying to get someone to go through the services I should and will pay for vs the services I will not pay for including an years membership paid for in advance.

HERE IS THE SUMMARY - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. OFFICE VISITS ARE FREE AND ARE SEEMINGLY USELESS. GO TO A LOCAL VET NOT ASSOCIATED WITH A PET HOTEL AND PET DEPARTMENT STORE.

THIS PLACE IS HERE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT TREAT YOUR FAMILY MEMBER W/ THE CARE , TIME AND ATTENTION HE/SHE DESERCES.

We apologize if you are unhappy with your Wellness Plan; to clarify our Wellness Plans are preventive services packaged together at a discounted price with the convenience of a 12-month financing option. When a client wants to cancel their plan throughout the year of the package we simply ask they either pay for the services already used at full retail cost or the remaining payments, whichever is less. In other words, customers who do cancel are not asked to pay for services that they haven't already used. We would like to help resolve your issue but we are unable to identify your account and have someone reach out to you. We ask that you contact our Wellness Plan Team so we can gather more information on your specific situation. Please call them at 866-649-2716 or email at [email protected], thank you.

Incorrect Diagnosis

Banfield is terrible. Did you end up paying in the end? they are trying to make us pay for a whole year of our wellness plan even though we cancelled it. I'm working on my letter of dispute right now and I'm going to send it in to as many Banfield offices as I can to be sure it gets somewhere. Did they send collections to you? I'm worried about that because my credit is perfect.
