Rude Employee

I went to Biolife plasma in 5550 Sargent Bluff Road Sioux City Ia on 08/27/2022 for a physical . My appointment was for 9:30 AM I arrived at 9AM and went to check in at the desk . I was immediately told by the check in person at the desk to leave the building and go find someplace else to wait and return at 9:20 . I then asked can't I just have a seat and wait here . She immediately started yelling at me like I was some kind of idiot telling me to get and waving her hands at me telling me they were on COVID restrictions and I was to leave immediately. However the place was full there were people sitting in the waiting area and I am fully vaccinated. This woman was acting like a deranged idiot telling me get out of the building and return in 20 minutes . This kind of treatment was uncalled for this employee was rude and this is not the way anyone should treat a client .

Discrimination

I was cleared through all screening then at the end she stated since I was bipolar I had to get doctor appro all then a staff physician review. I had a coupon for 150 for 4 donations. I donated before and never had a problem. Being g honest gets ne deferred. You don't drug test how is it fair when someone is honest about their mental capacities thats a problem? I rode their 2 hours via bus to be stranded because they wouldn't contact my doctor.

Shame on you

Extremely rude manager

Julie Herman (the manager) was extremely rude and has managed to train her staff to be equally as rude. Shame on her for turning people away because she did not want to add our address into her system when we were there for an appointment! Instead she told us she would do it later and to come back tomorrow, after we had just drove an hour to donate. The point of your job is to get people to donate not push them away! I will never be back, she was completely rude and must hate her job.

Deferred

I was deferred for apparently having an attitude with a manger there in 2018. But, Ive always had a pleasant experience and not sure what they are talking about. Also, they claim I have metabolic syndrome and an irregular heartbeat. Neither is true. I want to donate at Biolife but they said because a manager deferred me for having an attitude that it cant be undone...is this true? If so, thats very one sided. I feel someone should have contacted me. I have never had a negative complaint against me in my life and I would like someone to look into this.

Disrespectful demand to reweigh with shoes on

I weighed in today at 149 lbs. without my shoes on. After the entire process was completed and I was ready to go donate, an employee jumped in front of the employee who was originally processing me and started changing things on the computer screen. She then started to demand that I reweigh WITH my shoes on. She said that she had been watching me and noticed that I hadn't worn my shoes when I weighed in. I reweighed at 150 lbs. This was very disturbing to me as I knew that I would then be required to donate 825 units instead of the 690 units.
I am a 62 yr old woman, mother of five and grandmother of six. I am very much involved in helping to care for my grandchildren. I am also a full time caregiver for a recently disabled son. I value and need my energy EVERYDAY. I was fearful about donating a larger amount.
I went on and completed my 825 unit donation in 40 minutes. During most of the 40 minutes I was crying due to the disrespectful treatment towards me. I felt like I had been treated like a common criminal for weighing in with my shoes off. I was never previously told that this was a rule. I do not believe that it is in writing that donars must wear shoes for the weight recording. I spoke with the manager and he said that this is their rule, even though for all of my donations in 2017 I had not worn my shoes and was never told to wear them. I was unaware of this "rule" of wearing shoes for the weigh in.
I went home and slept for 3.5 hours, unable to care for my one and four year old grandchildren. My husband took my place, and cared for the children.
Even though I would like to continue donating, I am not sure that I wiil, due to this disrespectful, and, in my opinion, inappropriate behavior of the employee demanding that I get weighed again with my shoes on, putting me into a higher level of units required to be donated.
I feel that I should NOT of had to be reweighed.
Is this really a hard and fast "rule" that shoes must be worn for the weigh in? I really need to know, as it is not mentioned specifically in anything that I have read during the donation screening, etc.
Please let me know.
Sincerely, Julie T.

Horrible Liars Scam !!!

Update: Spoke with a "manager" named Von who told me even though they gave me the wrong information, I have to fix it by spending money and going to my own doctor. Since I disclosed information that can be unsafe - I didn't- they won't allow me to donate until my doctor approves it, which she already did. Also asked her to have her corporate office contact me or her regional manager, and she refused and told me to go on the website and write them an email. Great customer service right?

This place is absolutely horrible. I have been donating plasma for over 3 years and never had so many problems as here. The staff, admitted they gave me the wrong information, and when i did exactly what they said, they have deferred me due to their own mistakes! I have asked 7 times (!) To speak to a manager and was told there wasn't one and still have not had someone call me! Stay away from this place!

Phlebotomist skill level

Out of 13 donations, biolife has given me 3 hematomas and coincidentally, they all happened during my first donation of the week, preventing me from donating and receiving my second bigger donation for that week. Then when you get angry, that act indignant! I donated for 3 years at biomedical and in 3 years, I only had 2 hematomas.

Scheduling appts almost impossible

I had to get a Doctors note to be able to continue on with the process and THEY would not LET ME SET UP an appt for a day or two after the note was scheduled to be received (to save an earlier spot for a NEW donor), and now I will have to wait OVER TWO WEEKS to be able to donate, I guess they don't want my donation. I am rating this Company very poorly and recommending to all of my family and friends to find anyone else.
Very BAD experience.
Bad policy.
Bad customer service
I have literally over a hundred cousins and dozens of aunts and uncles and then you add on the friends and the work of mouth will go far.
I also tired to make an Appt online before calling and attempting and I could not speak to any one, hey were all "too busy".

No ability to contact

You cannot reach someone via phone to ask ANY questions you may have. They purposefully don't allow you to speak to someone ( Only a machine) so you must go to the business to simply ask a question. I set and apt, and cancelled it because I couldn't ask a simple question. The phone says you must go on the website to schedule and have "all" questions answered. The vague descriptions are terrible. Your company just lost the opertunity to take my donation. Maybe seem like you give a crap about the people who make your business function...

Wrongly deferred

I was a referral and went in with my friend to donate. During the questionnaire my friend asked me a question and I know the policy says we cannot talk during this time so I just looked at her and shrugged my shoulders. Two nurses then call out that we are not supposed to be talking, so I just continue doing my questionnaire. I'm about to sit down to start donating when the assistant manager comes over to me and says I'm not letting you donate today, because two nurses said I was talking during the questionnaire. I then asked her which nurses when she then replied with a blank face and didn't give a response. On my way out I explain the situation to 2 other nurses who were just as puzzled as I was. Complete waste of my time and theirs, since the real reason is to donate to help save lives. Just unprofessional and rude.

Closed more than open

This location has decided to be closed anytime. My family had been going here for years. In the years past they were closed for Christmas and Thanksgiving which is understandable. Now they have decided to close Dec 23, 24, 25, 26 and Dec 31st. Jan 1, 2. In the past they were never closed that many days during the holidays. People use that extra money for these holidays now they don't have the option.
Next complaint is when they are open it is almost impossible to get an appointment. This location is under staffed, probably because they can't keep employees. If you can't provide customer service then close the location completely. It is a brand new facility but it is completely under used. I stopped going for over a year and now I remember why.

Kelly Frien's attitude towards me in the donation center

Kelly Frien is an employee that has hated due to past interactions with her daughter and I. It has been about 10 years sense I have been away from her. One day i came into biolif and noticed that she is employed here. I started to notice that she was whispering to co-workers and then both her and the co-worker would stare at me in an unprofessional way. Making me uncomfortable in the center. I have made a complaint before. They said sorry and tried to get me to switch to the Waterloo location. Doing that would be a waste of time on my befalf. I decided to come back thinking she would act like an adult but I was surely mistaken. I just want the starring and the whispering to co-workers to stop. I like knowing that im saving lives but I'm not willing to keep doing it due to an employee being disrespectful to ne while I'm in the center. I wish Kelly Frien would just grow up and be an adult.

disrespect

Two biolife employees ars very disrespectful to me. One I call her pin-up girl because she has to pin her clothes up on her ass to make them fit she is so tiny that the needle is as thick as her arm. Ginger bread gir (oh nooo!) And the other one that I call the mexican racist. Q fat half breed girl that thinks her cohorts will respect her if she acts like she is racist against certain blacks, not the blacks that her friends respect. She is always acting like she is busy with someone else when I come around and only looks at me or come around when someone like the gingerbread girl disrespects me. They seriously overlord rhemselves over donors like rhey are gods when they only need to be respectful and curteous. They make a spectacle out of disrespecting me like its fun. They are clearly babies with babies, all of them have short man syndrome. Except for a select few that are always nice to me everytime I come there. Wonder how theyll feel to know im recording their performance, as I am a mystery shopper on assignment. And they think they are actually getting away with it. And the person who tales these complaints for the company and does call back, snitches on the complainer to the complainee, so they can mess their arm up. The mexican racist did it to me once. I fell out that night. And if I could afford another car, I'd hit her with it.

wrongly deferred

biolife defers donors if they contact there employees v.i.a. facebook when they find out there last name is, and we werentt even at there center, well thats why facebook has privacy tools to prevent unwanted people contacting them, use them, thats why they are there, for your protection, and ernie schmidt the center manager doesnt have good donor relations at this center, along with adam bruening.dave is about the best manager at this center, he talks with donors and friendly.ernie schmidt been letting go employees left and right this oct 2010, all because there short handed, when they requested f.m.la to take care of a love 1.well treat there donors better, if it wasnt for the donors, they wouldnt be in business.they are only keeping employees that treat donors like crap, and lie to us 24/7 who they are like raven MCfadden, .since they do see are medical records everyday, when we donors dont know who they are.its my right to know who has access to my records, and speak when im donating

wrongly deferred

After I did routine questions& tests I was set up to donate plasma. As soon as the machine kicked in and started to separate blood and plasma I had immediately noticed that the bag collecting plasma was not the normal ‘apple juice color’ but that it had a decent amount of blood in it. I then told SEVERAL different employees that it appeared to be abnormal. Even after looking at the bag they had dismissed the color AND MY CONCERN for the abnormal factor. When I was being taken off the machine an associate had told me that it was going to have to be discarded because there was so much blood in the bag. Right before I got off the donation chair I was told that I was going to have to see a nurse to address the questions that I had. When I got up from the chair I was told to follow an associate to the check out screen. NOT ONCE had they had any kind of concern about me WALKING or STANDING at the touch screen to log out. After I logged out I was told to sit down and wait for a nurse to come and answer the questions I had. I was called into the nurses office was told that I was going to have to wait at the center for 30min because I might be lightheaded. I had then asked if I had a family member come and pick me up and I was a passenger in the car if I could leave. (Thinking that the only reason that they don’t want me to leave and drive a car is because I would be lightheaded.) I verbally attempted to rationalize why I couldn’t leave in a family vehicle if I wasn’t driving because of ‘lightheadedness’ and honestly got frustrated because I didn’t understand why I couldn’t leave if I wasn’t driving for being ‘lightheaded’. After I sat in the waiting room and told my husband that I didn’t think that I should drive and that he should come and pick me up AFTER I got done with my 30min, I had different lady pull me into her office and begin to explain why I couldn’t leave. Reasons like blackout pass out, lightheadedness &dizziness and had verbally recognized that I was OBVIOUSLY upset at the situation. She asked me why I had gotten that way to begin with. And, I had told her that it was because the nurse hadn’t ever said that I might pass out, might blackout, or might be might be dizzy! And that I couldn’t rationalize not being able to leave for being lightheaded if I wasn’t driving. And, then confronted her about feeling like I was being pulled into an office and ‘getting a talking to’. I told her that if the nurse had originally told me that I might pass out, black out, or be dizzy that the reasons for keeping me there WOULD HAVE BEEN rationalized! I told her that I had called my husband and that he was going to drive me home after my 30min and she told me that if I left I was pretty much going to be banned from coming to another BioLife facility. After feeling like I had been done such a disservice from the faculty right down from telling the associates that something was wrong from the BEGINNING, to not telling me all of the symptoms that I might encounter so I could rationalize such a request and NOT HAVE BECOME so angry this entire situation could have been avoided!!
