Fired for no reason

Please forgive me, I hate to be a bother, but I am running out of places to go to, I wrote an email which I hope you can send to someone who can look at my story, it seems that because I was a contractor I am not getting any support from anyone with Xerox, contractors or not, I have been there for over five years and should not have been fired, and even this day I still don't know why.

The ethic security was no help, after sending them so many papers, they sided with Xerox because again being a contractor, t hey can not do anything, and now I am being threaten by my agency to be taken to court, which I told the, go for it, maybe than my story will get out, six week I was fired, and I continue to seek justices.

I don't think that management should get away with calling up an agency and have someone fired just like that, and I mean that is how easy it was for them and then Xerox would tell everyone I was fired by the agency.

As I mention to you in the past, I love Xerox, and I don't regret bringing up the issue about conversions, because it was wrong for them to continue to tell people the same line they told us many years ago and still today we are still a contractor.

Here is my letter, please send this to anyone who will read it and will look at my story, the human side.

To whom it may concern:



I have ask Peggy to send this email to you with hopes that someone will look at my case on a human side, not the contract side, which I will explain to you with this letter.

My name is Robert Raynes and back in Sept 2009, I applied to a job with Xerox, and was successful to get hired, I received a call from a young lady who ask for me to attend an interview at place 400 one of the two locations of Xerox Help Desk.



I went into a small room with two people, these two people were my interviewers, they ask me many questions, and I was able to answer them, than I ask them a question about how does all this work, meaning that I was called from a different company for this interview.



They explain to me that, I was called from one of the many staffing agency uses for recruitment purpose, and then they explain to me that I will be with the agency for about 6 months to a one year, because after that time period, Xerox want to hire you as on of their own employee, for this to happen we will be looking at you stats as well absents.



If both are good you will be converted to Xerox, once I heard that, I was sold on the idea and made it a point that I would be a good worker with high stats as well I will not allow myself miss anytime.



I have done that for five and half years, I had great stats, never missed a day, never even took a vacation day, sat on two committees, and was very active within my team.



It seems that every year when we would ask about conversion, we would get no answer, but than I notice some serious issues that we coming from this issue, first of all, I was seeing so many people quitting from GDO, and I mean many people, it even got to the point that all the new people that were being hired between 2013 and 2015, at lease 75% of them would quit within a few months.



And the reason was no secret to anyone when it comes to the reason why these people were quitting, and that was they were being hired for the GDO department, and once they move to a team, they meet other contractors who have been there for years.



Now the same line that they used on us, was now still being used on the new hires, so when they meet the others who have been there for so many years, these people realized that they were lied to and decided to leave to a another job.



Now that being said and also I like to mention, that every other department within the GDO family here in Canada were doing ongoing conversions, except for our department.



So because I like many other people who were told that if we work hard and don't miss many day, we will be hired to Xerox, and because they continue to say the same line on the new hires even up to 2015, and because I am seeing so many people quitting, I decided to see for myself what is going on with the conversion with GDO.







So many good people working as contractors, and so many of them quitting, and the same time, I felt that it was not fair that Xerox interviewers telling us something that does not happen, because each of us who are here now, have remained here for that one reason, to be hired by the company that we have spend so many years with, there are people who have been here for 6 years and still contractors.



The effects of this is hurting everyone, I can not believe the high turn over does not seem to bother our Saint John leader, it like they lose ten and call the agency and place another order for 10 more, which becomes an ongoing cycle.



So on June 15, before heading to work, I decided to send an email to my manager from home, asking to see if I can get a meeting with him as well the head of GDO. And I also told him in the email what the meeting was going to be about and that was conversion.



My goal was simple, to ask them why, are you telling us one thing and not doing anything, why is it only our department not converting and why are you still to this day continue to tell new hires that they would be converted in a year if they work hard.



So may whys, so many questions, have we been mis-lead all these years, so many people quitting.



On that week, I had three meeting booked, and all three were cancel, and then my manager re-book another meeting for June 25th 2015, with myself and head of GDO, and my agency as well himself.



I felt that the email was odd because he wanted to include my agency, which I really did not want them involved, because this was a GDO issue not a work related issue, but he made it a point that they need to be there because they are your employer, so I decided to cancel the meeting, because I already knew that of the agency was on the phone all they would do is threaten me, and I was not prepare to hear yet another threat from these people.



So that evening I took the letter and reformed to a letter form so I can give to Duska who is the head of the GDO department and Shaun who is my manager, the letter was to be given to them on Friday June 19th.



We notice that night we were missing one of our letters, we only printed out 4 which we requested 5, did not worry about it because I was given them a copy that day, maybe if I worry about it, I would still be there, but fate works in strange way.



The next day, Friday June 19th. At 10:45am, I received a call from my agency and was fired, they could not give me a reason, but that contract I signed gave them the power, because it states that no reason is needed, and for Xerox, they tell the crew on my team that Robert has been fired by the agency and not by Xerox.



I believe I was fired after serving 5 and half years with Xerox, all because I wanted to ask a simple question about conversion.



Five and half year, working with these people, meaning my manager and the head of GDO, I was a kind person very well liked by so many people, I was a person who worked over time when they needed, I was a person who went to work no matter how much its storming out, a person who sat on committees, a person who raised thousands of dollars for homeless cats and the same time created a small store that was loved by all, a person who would help anybody when needed, a person who never once complaint about my job, a person who loved his job and working with so many people, a person who was liked by your customer who knew me by my first name.





And my manager who I believe took it upon himself with the head of GDO who had knowledge of what was happening that day, called my agency and spoke to Lisa and arrange to have me fired because Duska did not want to deal the issue.



I need this situation look at not by a contract but by a human side, they had no rights to fire me, all I wanted to to have a meeting, if they did not want to meet with me all they could have done was tell me, not fire me, it so hard to believe that these people who do that, how cruel and mean, I was not just a contract I was a human.



ALL I WANT IS MY JOB BACK, AND I HOPE IF YOU THE READER CAN HELP ME, if this is investigate you will see the truth, and that truth is that Xerox told the agency to fire Robert, and I do understand that I was not a Xerox employee, but not matter, no one should have gone through this treatment.
