Refused repairs

Bought a "total Plan" coverage on 7/25/2017 thru 1/25/2021 paying $1,197. I did not feel totally comfortable and requested that the contract booklet be mailed asap. The man selling the plan was very ept and appeared to be reading my mind, anticipating every question. I was assured that everything would be covered. I had the Sears protection plan and did not know if I should cancel it or not, so I decided that it was worth the few extra bucks to continue to have the Sears coverage. Well within a month one of our refrigerators decided that it would not work properly and we never heard the compressor kick in. We called and reported the problem and were told to expect a call from the repair person. Well this was just too good to true. The technician called and was over at our house in a very expedient manner. The so called "technician", representing a local vendor, did not speak English so he had an interpreter (very young man) to do all of the translating. It did not take more than 5 or 10 minutes for the technician to look at the refrigator and said that it had a leak and did not know if this was covered by the home warranty. I asked well if this is so how much would it take to fix it and was given a round about figure of $300 to $500 for a new compressor. I was told that we would be contacted by Choice Home Warranty. We waited for several hours and I finally decided to check the computer for their telephone number. Well, surprise, surprise, there was an e-mail from them. I was to contact them immediately. I did so and I was told that the refrigerator was not covered because leaks were not covered. I immediately contacted Sears and a technician was at our door in no time. It took him over an hour to check the refrigerator, and take pictures and call his supervisors. He came back and told us that it was the compressor and that due to the age of the refrigerator it would be better to have a replacement. We were given a voucher immediately, went to Sears and got the new refrigerator. Now this was quality service.

All of the information was provided to the "Managers", none of which could make a decision to reimburse or handle the problem in an expedient manner. Meanwhile I had paid Choice Home Warranty $1,197 and their technician $45 for coming to our house, paid the Sears technician $80 and paid an additional $850 for the years coverage. For the most part two of the Managers appeared interested but snobbish and uncaring while the original young man was just plain rude and definitely not from Texas. Come to think of it not one of them sounded or acted like they were from Texas.

This company is a fraud, takes advantage of people, does not stand by what they advertise and if anyone so chooses to sue let me in on this. I am turning all my correspondence over to the Better Business Bureau of the State of Texas.
