Paint Fading

I had Cleary build my 45X64 building back in 2004. Although my salesman was good, the timeframe was way off. I had an employee damage a few of the side panels of my barn so I purchased a few replacement panels to do the simple repairs myself. One of my guys immediately said that they didn't look like the same color as what was damaged. We walked the piece outside and indeed they were WAY off as far as color goes. I had noticed some fading on our entry door but holding up a new panel made the color difference extremely apparent.
I tried for two years to deal with the local office and the salesman that replaced the guy I purchased the building from originally. Of course....I got nowhere. I called the corporate office and was put in touch with a regional sales manager ( who was very nice as well as responsive) but was not able to help at all. It was clear that his hands were being tied from his bosses. I ended up calling the corporate office again and was able to get ahold of Brendon Cleary. After explaining to Brendon the now 2.5 year process of trying to get my building looked at, I had new hope. Please keep in mind that this entire time, anyone I talked to at Cleary immediately start pointing the finger a company by the name of Fabrel. Apparently they are the ones that Cleary uses to paint or supply the panels. I consistently told whoever I was talking to that I had no knowledge of or interest in who Fabrel was. I bought my barn from Cleary and felt if was strange and unprofessional to be pushing a customer off to another company. They finally send a rep out to look at the building. My barn is green roof, doors, and wainscoting….with tan sides. Cleary offered me either $4,000 cash to replace the green portion or they would replace the green portion. I was dumbfounded because the tan section was faded far worse but these were their findings. I told Brendon Cleary that I would have them replace the green sections, but that I would be taking them to court to replace the tan portion. He said "that would be fine." After six months and not hearing a peep about it, I called Brendon. I immediately got "I was just getting ready to call you". He assured me that he would get me on one of their crews list ASAP. Then, about two days later...he left me a VM stating that he was calling to make sure I was aware that they were only supplying the metal and I would need a crew to install it. Keep in mind that Brendon and I talked at length that I would need some lead time to clear equipment out of the barn to give his crew the room they would need to replace the steel. His ineptitude baffles me.
I again started investigating and found contact information for a Todd Montgomery who is apparently a VP of something. I had a long conversation with him and he also seemed to understand my frustration and would dig into it personally. He had a Fabrel rep go to our farm and take some readings on the paint. They came back "within acceptable range". In a nutshell, my barn is less than half is warranty life with over 50% paint fade! Cleary has gone to great length to get out of standing behind their product and their promises.
In conclusion- when you buy a building from Cleary, it comes with a "NO FADE" warranty. This is a parts and labor warranty!!! Tey use this warranty as a sales tool and then it's not worth the paper it's written on! How can they get away with this? They say "no fade" but then say it's acceptable fading. I have several neighbors that are in same boat with this company. I say it's time to organize and start a Class Action Lawsuit. If you have any level of interest, please feel free to call me @ (630)715-2951 or email me at [email protected].

Use Caution before signing contract

Be wary of this company. I was all signed up, deposit given and was ready for my new barn. Unfortunately my sales rep quit and I was never notified. After months of not hearing anything I called in only to find out this fact and the new rep of course say “ I was just getting ready to call you “ after time went on ( over a few more months) I find out that he has quit and now another rep has quit. Now being on my 3rd rep I felt wary of this company I’m about to give a lot of money too. After I called to cancel my contract due to the sales reps continue to leave the company. Cleary then decides it’s in its best interest to keep a pretty substantial part of my down payment only stating that they had " incurred costs".
While talking to management I was considering decided to continue my contract as they seemed very nice,
Unfortunately I just can’t do business with a company putting my “back to the wall” concerning my down payment and feels it’s in its best interest to keep monies that were not earned.
Before signing papers to build with Cleary, verify just how long the rep has been with the company and be ready to deal with others and do your own follow up since they do not. Very disappointed with their unethical business practices!!!!

DO BUY FROM CLEARY BUILDING CORP

I paid Cleary for a 32×64 pole barn in mid 2016, they sent a subcontracted crew to build my building. They installed the improper size overhead doors, concrete approach was cut wrong and piches inward. Upward of 30 plus screws in roof that totally missed the perlons. I found a row of screws on the west walls exterior that were completely missed (holes were pre drilled). Every single time it rains the building takes water. ALOT of water. They sent out the sub contracted overhead door guy who drilled out factory installed rivets on the rails and installed nuts and bolts in an attempt to suck the door tighter to the wall. When that didn't work they glued foam strips in between the doors and wall. This obviously didn't fix the problem. They then glued a rubber seal on the floor to lock in with seal on the doors bottom. The first time I drove my skid loader in the rubber seal ripped off the floor. Mean while after all the band aids had been placed the doors are almost impossible to open due to the fact that when they sucked the doors tighter to the jamb they never adjusted the spring tension. They have still not addressed the missing screws, the roof and doors still leak, I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH THESE PEOPLE FOR OVER TWO YEARS TO GET WHAT I PAID FOR. Matt Lilly is the branch manager at the Oregon Illinois branch and has done nothing but not return my calls. Brendon Cleary at the corporate office took my call this morning, and when I asked if he spoke with Matt Lilly about what was going to be done, HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!! Ladies and gentlemen, this is only the tip of the iceberg. I will now have to fight this in court. Do not do business with Cleary, they do no value what you protect, they value your money, and once they have your money, your problems are no longer there concern. Buy Morton or build yourself.

Taken Advantage of

I purchased a building 3 years ago and have been waiting this whole time to get it completed. Out of the goodness of my heart, I paid them in Full, instead of holding anything back. I own two small town businesses and I know what it like to have payroll, insurance, taxes and misc. fees of being a small business owner, so I thought I would do what I do...………… Ha !!!! The Salesman promised me the World. "I will personally make sure its completed if I get this last payment".
It kills me that I have to hire an Attorney and send a nasty letter to even get them to fix the leaking rain water from inside the home and correct the horribly cut metal around all openings. They even took back my Windows that I paid for, after a change order and then told me 3 years later that there's a 100% restocking fee. Seriously ???
Don't even get me started on ordering Colored-Matched Garage doors, They came white and the Salesman told me to install them because of the weather and I'll get them changed ASAP he said. Again, HA!!! Jokes on me.
I have been around all the pole building manufacturers as I have wired many in my area and the Cleary wood and craftsmanship was by far the best. They weren't even the cheapest, actually the highest, but yet, I went with Quality. Ha !!!! Jokes again on me.

So...………….What I learned, If you want to risk it...…….buy from Cleary. Hire a good Attorney first. But then You will have a better chance of getting the real deal from a used car salesman. Again, How sad it is in our world today that a small town, Honest guy pays you in Full and gets smoke blew up his butt by the Big Shots. The burn of having to hire an Attorney to get them to even talk...…………… pure BULLSHIT !!!!!!!

Cleary Buildings review

I contracted for a Cleary 30X60 building in May of 2014. I was told that it would be built in June. The building could not pass local requirements as designed. It was not started until July. There was no factory trained crew. It was subcontracted to an untrained crew. They worked a few days and left the job. That was just as well as their job was terrible. They couldn't even pound nails correctly. A new crew was brought in in September and finished the project correctly. The company does not follow up on their projects as they advertise. Buy from Cleary only as a last resort.

DO NOT BUY A CLEARY BUILDING!!

Do not buy from Cleary. I signed a contract back in November of 2016 to erect a simple 42'x72' pole shed and it is now September 2017 and it is still not completed. Their sales department are nothing but liars and the craftsmanship is less than par. If you would like to see what a terrible building looks like, come take a look at my shed. All they care about is how many shed they can put up in a given year!!

Do Not Buy From Cleary!

I signed a contract back in November of 2016 for a simple 42'x72' pole shed. It is now September 2017 and the backfilling and repairs that need to be made to my asphalt driveway are still not completed. Their sales absolutely SUCK! I have repeatedly contacted the sales guy to see when they are going to finish to only get lied too. I have had nothing but issues with this build from the start whether it be delays in the starting process, to leaving large ruts in my lawn, to driving on my new asphalt driveway and cracking it all over (which I was clear when I signed the contract I did not want any truck driving on it), the list goes on and on. This has been a terrible experience and I will never recommend this company to anyone!!!!! All they are concerned about is number to see how many building they can put up in a given year!

Buyer beware of add ons

Not sure where to start. I am on my third salesman and into the 4th month since the contract was signed. I'll admit, most of the issues have been fixed just to get to the level of what was expected in the contract. Biggest issue now, is that the first salesman who took my depo and had me sign the contract told me no grading work would be needed and that the ground was 'good enough' After he was fired and a new sales guy shows up, he looks at my land and tells me its not level enough. My options were either do
nothing and the job will just stop, depo held because somewhere the parts were being built or I pay an additional 1200 to have the ground leveled. Other issue is I needed a garage door with a 12 foot opening. After they installed the door the clearance was only 11'3" !! They have altered it to approx. 11'9" but that's still not 12 feet. Oddly enough they had no problem with the other 8' door.
Needless to say I felt I had to pay because of the delays so far and I really needed this done in a timely manor. In addition, both the new salesmen (I'm on my third) claim this was not an unusual situation with Cleary Building but the contract seems to protect them so buyer beware as it feels like signing with the Devil meaning if you leave ANYTHING out it becomes your fault and they hide behind their contract.

Beware of Cleary Buildings

Beware of Cleary. They are liars and cheats. Read all the reviews before using them. Even there employees are unhappy. I wish I would have done my homework on them first. You have been warned.

Beware of Cleary Buildings

6 months and counting for my building. They have $22,000 of my money and all I get is promises, promises. Most of which are never fulfilled. Horrible communication, poor planning on there part and worst of all corporate doesn't care. Don't waste your time with Cleary Building Corp. Read all the negative reviews about them online from customers and previous employee's. It speaks for itself. Don't make the same mistake I did, go anywhere to get a building, except from Cleary. Looks like I will be needing an attorney to get my money back.
