Baby nappie changing in the lounge area

A young mother had to change her baby's nappie in the lounge area to the pub as there are no baby changing facilities on the premises. She went to the toilets to check prior to doing this, the disabled and ladies toilet were not in a clean state so she carried this out within three feet of out table where we were drinking, not ideal. The lounge area is also a dining area and about six feet away the was a party of four eating however I'm sure they were not aware of this happening. Prior to leaving the premises a check was made by ourselves to see if there was appropriate signage pointing out any facilities for this task to be carried out, there was none. There is no signage for a dinning area or restrictions for children who can wander about at will unfortunately their parents or not but should be held responsible for their children's health and safety.

Everything

7 of us went to The California, Belmont, Surrey, It was the worst meal I have ever had, the Gammon was tough and full of gristle, the Steak was tough and had a hair in it, the so called Meat pie was mostly gravy, the Lamb was so thin it could of floated off the plate and it was tough as old boots in fact I could of soled a pair of shoes with it, had to ask for Steak knives, chips were not crispy and the food was cold, when I complained I was told we have a new manager starting next week I will pass your complaint on. Outside it is advertising this new menu underneath it should say rubbish. Not one of the 7 were happy and shall not be going again .

Ember inns cup of tea

Went to ember inns and ordered a pot of tea from the menu which was £1.80 only to be told we only do cups so I said okay if that's all there is. This was served up to me with a tea bag and a quarter of a cup of water I put a little milk in and it still did not reach half a cup and it was cold and was scummy on top I took it back and asked the girl behind the bar if she could fill the cup she did this with much disgust. I was charged £1.80 for this cup of disgusting gruell the same as a pot. This is disgraceful and should not be allowed to rip the public off like this its also misrepresentation which is against the law. What are you going to do about this as I'm very angry and am considering taking it further.

inedible food

Went to an harvest moon at grimsby on 19 7 2015 ordered drinks and food place a bit dingy had some people in so thought it would be okay . waitress dumped food on table then left saying nothing.the gammon steak was so overcooked it was thin and inedible not just because of the leathering effect but the extreme saltiness my partner found something green and grey in a lump in the sauce for her scampi .Nobody came anywhere near even though I went outside for a few minutes when I came back dishes were still on table. We could see that they knew there was a problem but they made sure that they did not come close. In the end on the way out I went to the bar and confronted them .All I got for my trouble was sorry you feel like that. .After reading the other complaints on here I would say that ember inns is a brand to stay well clear of.

Poor service waiting 50 mins for table taht was booked

We booked a table on 7.3.15 for 12 people for an early mothers day meal as my parents were not available next weekend! We got to The Gate at 3.58pm to be told there was a problem with our table and that someone had tried to contact me I had no missed pcalls on my phone! The number was incorrect in the book. We asked what the problem was and was told it was chaotic today! Not our problem as we had booked! Then we were bought to another large table where a couple were seated eating there meal we were then told to sit in the bar area and they would let us know when the table was available nobody came to keep us updated we had 6 children with us who were very hungry and starting to get restless! We then confronted the manager asking how long it would be he then told us he had never seen such slow eaters before which was very unproffesional. We were not given drinks while waiting we were eventually bought to the table at 4.50pm and then the tables had to be rearranged to seat our big party! I was really embarrassed that my parents had to witness this when I just planned to bring them out for a nice meal! The meal cost me £119.80 for main meals and starters and £26.00 for desserts I was not once offered a discount or a drink for this very poor service! The tables were not cleared when our desserts were bought to us, the waiter done this as he was giving our deserts to us!

poor service,food,attitude,dirty table

A colleague booked a table for 5:30 it was her 50th birthday, she booked a table it was a Monday 15/09/2014 and quiet we had to wait to be served a drink at the bar,the bartender was chatting to another staff member.I had to request the table was cleaned from salt and what was clearly picked finger nails, the waitress appeared to be embarrassed.
On ordering the food we continued to wait a considerable time only to be extremely disappointed, the chicken was dry the potato was powdery, overcooked steak, one steak taken back my colleague was offered a replacement when she asked how long it would take the response was well how long does it take to cook a steak she asked because of the length of time to receive our meal the response was 15minutes to which she declined. We asked the waiter to check the coleslaw it was clearly off smelling and sour. The response I Will tell the chef,no feedback or apology, the vegetables frozen and clearly overcooked chewy. Desserts were ordered and delivered to a table where we still had all our dinner pots. I was embarrassed as the Whitehouse is my local ,disappointed the food and service was awful.
The deserts were the only enjoyable part of what should have been a lovely birthday tea,it does not take to much to present frozen microwave meals.
I did email the manager but to date no response which I find appalling and offers poor customer services, hence my emailing yourselves.

Managers attitude

After spending a pleasant afternoon shopping in the local area, visiting Leigh, Worsely, my partner and I called at the Bulls Head, buy passing several pups in the area offering two meals for a £10, opting for what we thought a better standard of meal/service and ordered a meal along with drinks.
When the meal arrived, every thing seemed to be fine. The waitress pointed out that sauces were on the table along with salt, pepper.
I was a little disappointed to see tomato sauce bottle on the table, even more so do to the fact it was nearly empty.
As I picked up the nearly empty bottle of sauce, I checked the top was securely fixed and began to shake it as there was liquid in the bottom of the bottle.
I started to open the bottle lid, but before I had the chance to remove the lid completely, the sauce around the top of the bottle, that had obviously bee there for some time exploded sending out a splattering of sauce, covering my t shirt and jeans.
I would suggest, that in the future, if you must dispense sauce from its bottle that you wipe clean and discard nearly empty bottles. My situation was pointed out to the waitress, who did apologies and brought several clean cloths both wet and dry, and suggested she would take this matter to the manager. But as I am sure you know, tomato sauce will not be removed and goes onto rot clothing, so after several attempts to wash my cloths free of the sauce, I had no choice but to throw the items away. As my partner and I was leaving the premises, I approach the waitress and asked what was the response of the manager, she again apologised and went onto say the manager cant do any thing about it and she suggested that she may be able to get a couple of coffees out of him. At this point I pointed out that his response was far from professional and dam right rude, following such an incident the manager did not have the common courtesy to come over and see the damage caused to my clothing and offer his apologies in person. I suggested that I would be putting in a formal complain. My contact details are Tel 07955647213, email [email protected], I am sure your company needs to be represented in a far more professional manner and customer focussed.

VERY POOR MEAL AT EDEN ARMS

I visited the Eden arms today 10-7-14. I ordered the beef pulled pie, or so I thought.
It was difficult to find any meat at all two thin shreds like cotton in fact meat was non
existent the so called gravy in the pastry had no taste at all. I know the pies will be bought in
but I would be ashamed to serve them. But to be served this in restaurant is totally unacceptable
I complained at the time but did not get a response. I am disgusted.

disgusting attitude by manager

Took my in laws out for lunch, my Husband and I ended up having two large cokes poured on us and our coats and my brand new handbag by the waitress, the glasses smashed all over us and we were soaked. The waitress apologised and tried to move us to another table which was smaller,we moved ourselves to a bigger table whilst trying to dry off. We then had to wait ten mins for our drinks to be brought to us which the manager brought after he had helped the waitress clean up. Not once did the manager apologise or ask if we were OK, after giving us our drinks the only thing he said was 'it doesn't happen very often'! We then waited forty mins for our food which wasn't very satisfactory, after I had told my family about the nice new menu. The manager brought us our bill and didn't even have the decency to take off the drinks from it that had been spilled all over us. I asked him if he thought that was fair and that we are absolutely disgusted with how it had been handled. He responded with ' oh is that what she did, give me the bill back then and I'll go do something with it'. He then came back and took off £2 from our bill and again no apology. We were extremely disappointed to say the least and we were wet and sticky from the coke that had been poured on us. Granted it was an accident but the attitude of the manager was disgusting and he is one of the most miserable people to welcome people to a pub I have ever seen

The Gate Ember Inn, Northwood

I took my mum to The Gate in Northwood on Saturday 4th January 2014.
My mum ordered the , whiting, chips and peas with tartar sauce. I ordered the chicken breast, chips and peas "with a choice of peppercorn or bearnaise sauce". Mums meal arrived as described on the menu, however my meal arrived very dry, without any sauce. When I asked the waitress where the sauce was I was told I would have to pay an extra pound for it! I was not informed of this when ordering the meal and I have never before ordered a meal whereby the sauce (which is described as being served with the meal) must be paid for separately. How can Ember Inns justify the cost of £1 for a spoon of sauce?
Ember Inns need to change the wording of the menu to state that this meal will be served dry unless another £1 is paid.Surely this is trade description? Had I known of the extra charge I would not have ordered the dish.
I did email The Gate following the meal, but never received a response. Not somewhere I would choose to eat again.

Quality of Food & portion size

My wife and myself often eat at the Horse & Jockey in Sutton . We always happy with the food. My wife usually has the two course evening meal deal ( soup starter) and I have a soup starter and a main course from the main menu.
On Friday 3rd January we ate at the Crown - Four Oaks Sutton Coldfield
We had the following problems - We were astounded when the waitress asked who was having the soup from the main menu and who was having it from the meal deal. My wife had a tiny bowl of soup (I'm told a ramekin ) and I had a larger bowl which was not the quantity you'd expect in a normal soup bowl. Further still there was no sour cream on the top of the soup -
- as per the menu and my Wife's bread was cold (the menu states it should be warm).
Things then got worse my wife had the Salmon with baby new potatoes and buttered green vegetables. In stead she received dried-up, overcooked semi potatoes/ semi mash and the green vegetables came without any butter.
My advice to anyone is to not use the Crown the food is a disgrace

poor service/food

Just returned from your Ember Inn Banbury. Waited 35 minutes for our food order. When it arrived quality very poor, not what I expected given I have always experienced good quality in past. My husband had fish and chips I had beef burger with chips. Chips were awful, think they had been cooked in dirty fat, certainly looked like it, bun with my burger stale. Staff very helpful when I complained saying sorry. In my opinion not enough staff, one on tables one on bar duties, also inexperienced staff in kitchen, why would it take 35 minutes for our order when only five meals came out of kitchen during our wait? These problems need to be investigated immediately before you loose business, there are so many similar alternatives!

Poor service

On Thurs19th Dec I went to meet a friend for lunch. We have been regular customers for the last six years. In the past we have praised the staff for their customer relations. We arrived at 12noon as usual,we ordered coffee and awaited the arrival of a third friend before ordering lunch. At approximately 12:20 we went to order lunch (jacket potato) and were told the gas had failed and they were now only concentrating on a large party. I was unaware that the microwave oven was fuelled by gas so we requested a sandwich. Apparently no chance. I was most unhappy that we(along with a great many others) vacated the premises. It will certainly make me consider where to eat in the future. Obviously regular customers are unnecessary to the future of the pub. I am sure many regular staff were uncomfortable with this outcome.

Poor management

Huntsman & Hounds Corbets Tey Upminster Essex
I work across the road from this pub and have used this pub on a daily basis for 9 years.
Why oh why do you keep changing the landlords? New landlady is totally incompetent and is failing to keep stocks of IPA at £2.55 but surprise surprise has ample stocks of Abbot at £3.05!
Why don't you now stock Young's?

unauthorised payment taken from card

Dispute it with your bank. But your post makes no sense. First you say you went in for lunch, then you say you haven't used the pub for years...which is it?

unauthorised payment taken from card

Myself and my family when in for a meal on mothers day and paid by debit card. Two days latter a unauthorised payment was taken out of my account. I went and discussed it with the manager of the pub and she found the copy of the transaction and it said it had been signed for but not by me. We have not used the pub for years its seems a little suspicious to me especially when the payment was taken on the day off of the manager of the pub. So beware any locals check your bank accounts if you have used this pub.
