Foreign transaction fees

I made a booking for a flight from New York to India and vice versa on 09/24/2016, at the Etihad Airways website for $963 using my Bank of America Card. At the time of final purchase, the amount was $963 only. Now I have been charged additional 3% foreign transaction fee (which amounts to $28.90). I need the refund.

Lying, Unprofessional, Incompetent Representatives who gave me MONTHS of headache, an usuable itinerary

STAY AWAY from this airline! It will save you months of trouble, and hundreds of dollars on top of your ticket. Their representatives are complete dumbasses and liars. I don't even know how they operate. Someone first called me and informed me that one of my flights had been cancelled. Fine, we agreed on a new itinerary, and she said she would send me an email. Days passed, I emailed, and tried to reach her on the phone, talked to a different rep and also left a message for this 1st rep. No response. After a few more calls, and more promises that I'll get a changed itinerary, I received one. It looked fine. Several weeks later, I received an email that said my itinerary was changed and attached was the world's most retarded ticket I have ever seen. I was to fly from Abu Dhabi to New York on Oct 21st, but then fly from New York to Nashville on Oct 20th! What, do I have a time machine?

So, I emailed and emailed, called and called. No response to my emails. I spend hours on the phone holding. Each time I called the toll free USA number, it got re-routed to the middle east. For all those hours of talking and holding, I incurred over $200 in usage charges on my cell phone bill. I didn't even know I was getting charged, since I dialed a toll free number! I don't know how they operate their business! Every single representative I spoke with on the phone had an Indian accent. Each one of them worked on a new itinerary with me, then told me that they will get it approved first, and then I will receive an email confirmation with a copy of the new itinerary. This happened like 7 or 8 times. I never got an email. Not once. Not once from any of them! What is the point of lying and wasting my time? I wasted hours on the phone w/ them and also wrote emails with no response. And I had to over $200 to my cell phone company for this. When I called back, I described everything from the previous call, the rep took a msg from me and told me that the other rep would call me back. They never called me back! Again, what sort of lying, scheming business is this??

So, I was stuck with this unusable ticket for months!! They just would not fix it.. I was at my wits end. I only had 1 month left before my trip, so I called my credit card company (which I should have done a long time ago). They stayed on the phone with me and got them to change my itinerary and made sure I receive a confirmation email. Etihad had the nerve to say that I would incur fees from Etihad, if any more changes are made on the itinerary! What??? They changed it to begin with, without my consent, into an UNUSABLE itinerary! They would NOT change it even after numerous calls and inquiries, and they have the audacity now to threaten me and say that they will charge me for MORE changes? Were they imagining these changes which they were too incompetent to make? I would have loved for them to not change anything or undo their retarded change to begin with! Anyways, they said there was an overnight gap, and that was the only connection they could make. And Etihad refused to pay for an hotel for that night. Yeah, I already knew they were shameless and didn't know what customers or customer service was. They are from a different planet. I agreed and took the itinerary. I had less than a month left, and at this point, I was happy to just get the ticket back to a usable version.

I booked a hotel for that overnight stay, but when we got to Abu Dhabi, Etihad actually gave a voucher for the hotel. So, I wasted another $76 for the hotel. The guy at the counter asked me to write to Etihad and said that they are normally courteous and that I should get some sort of compensation or a voucher at the very least. Right! I wrote to Etihad, and this is what really blows my mind! They replied saying that they are not liable for any of this and that everything was done according to policy! So, now you know Etihad and its representatives' policy!

Needless to say, I will never fly Etihad again. Worst airline ever.

Poor Customer Service

Please be very careful booking with Etihad they are deceitful lying scum. I booked a flight for 2 family members from Edinburgh to AD via Dublin. Despite the flight being 7 weeks from booking date, less than 12 hrs from booking they changed the outbound flight to Dublin to one day later however the outbound from Dublin to AD was changed to a day before the first connecting flight!! I called to correct and was informed it was my duty to check and rebook the connecting flight!?! I pay them £1000 for this shit service!! Now I have to wait 5 - 10 working days for my money to be returned. Scum service, scum staff scum airline.... I will fly any airline than this Mickey Mouse outfit, or should I say Unfit!! You call yourself an airline? Do your self a favour like the rest of the businesses in AD let the Expats run your company as we all know you can't even do a full days work let alone think your capable of running a business!!

Foreign Transaction Fee

I made a booking for return flight from Chicago to Delhi on 11/19/2010, at the Etihad Airways website for $2366.34 using my Bank of America Card. At the time of final purchase, the amount was $2366.34 only. Now I have been charged additional 3% foreign transaction fee (which amounts to $70.99). It is an unpleasant experience.
