We went to the expense to have our roof replaced with a metal roof. Snow falling off the roof as a potential problem was not brought to our attention nor was something called a snow cleat. The first snowfall caused the snow to avalanche off the roof taking the new gutter guards with it leaving behind 3 feet of packed snow and damaged landscaping. A person or pet would have been seriously hurt or killed by that amount of snow. They came out and replaced/repaired the gutter guards but were not willing to install snow cleats or repair/replace/compensate for the damage to the landscaping. The attached picture/s show the dangling gutter guards. Since the incident the gutter in the front of the house is no longer flush to the house and water drips 2 stories splashing mulch onto the side of the house. The following winter another snowfall took off another gutter guard, which has yet to be replaced. The company no longer returns our calls or responds to our letters, in fact a letter has been returned. We also had notified the company that we would be installing solar panels on the roof and were reassured that it was not a problem. As it turns out the solar company got the same lack of communication as we did and the solar panels were never installed on the roof. There was supposed to be a lifetime warranty but apparently these problems fall outside of the warranty.

In response to Mrs. Chadwells complaint. Lifetime Home Exterior Industries Inc. provided service to Mrs. Chadwells gutter guard initially at no charge. Mrs. Chadwell was advised as are all customers that snow does not stick to metal roofs. That being said Mrs. Chadwell was also advised as are all customers that one in ten homeowners care to have “snow guards” installed on their roof. All customers are advised to experience a snow fall before having snow guards installed on their home so as to not spend unnecessary money. After experiencing a snow fall if warranted Lifetime Home Exterior Industries advises to all customers as well as Mrs. Chadwell that they have snow guards installed by a qualified installer as the company does not manufacture, sell, or install snow guards. In this case when Mrs. Chadwells gutter was fixed, in accordance with our obligation to Mrs. Chaldwell, the qualified installer gave Mrs. Chadwell a price to install the snow guards. Due to the configuration of Mrs. Chadwells roof unfortunately she happens to be the one in ten. Mrs. Chaldwell after being advised that in order to eliminate any future problems with her roof she should have snow guards installed did not wish to spend the money to install snow guards and felt that she should receive snow guards for free. Our qualified installer stands ready willing and able to install snow guards on Mrs. Chadwells home however should not be expected to extend material as well as his services at no charge.

In regards to Mrs. Chaldwells comments regarding her solar system. Once again solar systems can be installed on our systems after installation. We have numerous homeowners who wish to do so and we advise them that if they wish to do so have one of our qualified installers be present to aid in installing the boots on the roof. Once again, Mrs. Chadwell nor the solar company contracted by Mrs. Chadwell deem necessary to pay the qualified installer for his time or services. Mrs. Chadwell has the right to do as she so pleases to her own home and could have had the solar company install the boots and the system without the aid of our qualified installer.

Lifetime Home Exterior Industries advises that Mrs. Chadwell spend the money to have snow guards installed on her home. Lifetime Home Exterior Industries is more than willing to provide a qualified installer to do so at a minimal cost. At that time Lifetime Home Exterior Industries is quite certain that the installer would adjust the gutter at no extra charge. If Mrs. Chadwell does not wish to use the qualified installer once again Mrs. Chadwell as the right to do as she pleases to her own home and have any local contractor install snow guards on her home.
