Absolute thieves

Stay away from goodlife and their personal training program. From the first training session they showed their unprofessional manners. 1. If you do not choose to give them preauthorizarion for payments, they will pressure you by not givinig your key tag automatic access when you tap it in the entrance so every time you need to wait for the assisstance to let you in and remind you to give them pre_authorization. DONT DO THAT YOU WILL REGRET IT. Just read the other reviews to get an idea of what will happen next.
2. There are two types of personal trainers: the unqualified ones and the professional ones who are so upset with the managers unprofessional expectations and manners that they keep quiting. Its like a hotel for trainers themselves they do not stay. So you are left with no trainer and the manager is so busy flirting around that he does not have time to reach you to assign a new trainer. The only thing they are good to do is billing you for the service that they did not provide. The manager realized he neex to assign a new trainer to provide the promised services only after I mentioned I need to cancel due to medical conditions. His excuse "Its not my problem that you are unable to use the session from now on. Although the services are a month overdue I will offer them to you in the future. Therefore you need to pay." The excuses where so ridiculous that the customer service lady herself was ashamed to mention them. Its a shitty company with shitty service. Respect your self and your money and stay away.

Money taken from my account and lied too.

Absolute thieves! Just dealt with a fincial issue where they told me they put a hold on my account so I would pay 5 dollars instead of 27 every 2 weeks and than found out they actually did not and now they owe me over 150 dollars which I am still waiting to get back (it's Sunday and they told me they would reimburse me Thursday, hoping it's just a business day thing and it will be back to me this week). They told me when it was "cleared up" they would put my memebership on hold for certain this time due to me having a leg injury and the very next day took money from my account again! And not the hold amount of 5 dollars either. They told me they would reimburse me for the NSF fees I keep being charged (tomorrow I expect to be charged 2 more NSF fees again because of these people) and I am a single mother with no fincial help or support. Because of GoodLife I could not pay my bills because I had to choose to pay my bills or feed my child and I picked the obvious. I hate this company and I will never ever speak a good word of them. In fact I have been posting everywhere about what they have done to my life and my child's life. I am in the process of putting a hold on my bank account and I will continue to pay them in cash for my membership as they can't be trusted to have access to my money. Way to go GoodLife, especially the Joe Howe location. You have made my life such hell I haven't slept in days. That is how much stress is now on me. I am almost -200 in my bank account because of their ### up. I went 7 dollars into my overdraft for my own mistake, the other 170 dollars is all to blame on these asshole. Disgusting slimey thieves. If it doesn't get sorted I am looking into contacting whoever is the most high up asshole in control of this trash company. Please don't go here. Don't go to ANY GoodLife but especially this one. I'm cancelling my membership and it will be the best money I ever pay after these crooks reimburse me.

I have been doing as much research into legal action against these crooks, at this location, or taking it to the media. And one little google search and this article was found so this is clearly not a first time thing, even though I told them that my bank had told me that they get complaints almost daily from two specific company's and YUP GoodLife was one of them! I was told at this GoodLife location they've never seen it happen. Doubtful.

Overpriced and Lack of Knowledge

Personal Training is a scam and they con you into buying this outrageously overpriced contractual agreement. The service is based on the number of sessions and, unless they changed it, the "level" of the trainer. Literally ANYONE can be a PT which is a problem in of itself.

Trainers DO NOT CARE about their clients. Their goal is to get you in a contract, then schedule 1 hour sessions for the week. They get upset whenever you reschedule or cancel the session since they get paid only if you make it. Else they'll bombard you with messages.

Training: if you're a beginner maybe a few sessions might help. But why ask a trainer for assistance if they cannot answer all your questions? Trainers take simple courses and have a better physique than others that allow them the job. This DOES NOT make them a "certified" trainer- someone that knows their shit. You are better off going to a gym, watching others and ask them for advice or help. Trainers just scout the gym looking to sell you something. Anything really since they get commission money.

Good thing is you can cancel anytime. 10% of the contract. That's better than committing. My trainer as well as the fitness manager I spoke to had their heads in their asses in regards to me leaving. Why pay 500-600 bi-weekly for shitty rushed sessions and 0 results when the "better" training is in the later 6 months? Customer retention makes me ### laugh when I caught onto how they work.

My tips: if you want a membership to use the gym go for it. Just ignore all the other nonsense they sell. See someone in uniform walking by? Avoid talking to them. Considering a trainer? YouTube and Google or ask fellow gymmers. They won't judge you unlike Goodlife employees.

Want to become a PT at Goodlife? I guess you enjoy taking a shitty pay job and need to scam people to waste their hard earned money for dogshit results. Reconsider your profession if you intend to help people.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Hi, ere have been several complaints about a certain individual in the Goodlife Fitness - Beacon Hill zumba class in Beacon Hill in Calgary, but each time a complaint is made, it seems to fall on deaf ears. The management in the Beacon Hill location and the instructor refuse to do anything about this and as a result of this a lot of people have quit and gone to your competitors or have stopped coming. The individual's behaviour is inappropriate and obcene and he thinks he owns the place, I think we as paying customers have a right to have this addressed. Since this has not been addressed at the club level, I would appreciate if someone from the head office address this. Can you please have someone address this and talk to the individual and have him curb this behaviour as he is making alot of people uncomfortable or Goodlife is going to see a lot of people leaving and going to your competitors. The club management's response was either put up with up or get out, which I thought was really inappropriate and not the best customer service.

Locker room break ins

I am a Goodlife Fitness member for more than 3 years and I go to the club at least 4 times a week. I never bring my purse in the locker room I just have a car key, lock of the locker and house key. I always lock the locker with my gym bag and my jacket but 2 days before Christmas somebody break in , in the ladies locker room. Someone cut my lock and took my car key inside my winter jacket and from there the culprit went into my car and steal my purse which inside the purse was all my valuables, including my OHIP card, drivers license, car insurance, car ownership, credit cards, debit card, access card at my workplace, medical card for prescriptions and cash. I lost everything that night, I reported it in the front desk and they ask me to write my name the stuff that was stolen from my locker. I reported the incident to the police and I was waiting from Goodlife about the update but they never phone me or informed me if there is a progress or if they find the culprit. I waited for another week, I phoned them to have the update but it seems they didn't really care as long as you pay your memberships every two weeks. I WAS TRAUMATIZED WITH THAT EXPERIENCED but the club seems didn't care at all till i decided to cancel my memberships. So that experience in Goodlife wasn't really good very traumatic for me.

Goodlife Instructor - so rude!

I had a horrible experience with one instructor st GoodLife. She was very very rude and ran out as soon as she finishes...I wants to ask her for some tips to be able to join the next time.

I've had good experiences with other instructors but she was too confrontational. It turned me off from taking any classes. I had heard good timhigs about her. Her name was Monica (Colombian) - I hope it was just 1 day that she was off. But it would be good for head office to address all of its instructors on etiquette.

Like, we pay for our memberships and instructors should be more patient with us older folks

Personal Training

My personal trainer Mike was horrible. When we clearly selected a date over the phone for the personal training to be done at 9:00 pm on Thursday, April 20th, we showed up for the appointment and he lied that the appointment was booked for Monday, April 24th at 9:00 pm. How did Thursday 20th become 24th? Also, when we were booking the appointment he was very rude and had no telephone manners, he looked like he was in a rush and could be doing better things than giving us the service we payed for. I've never experienced such a horrible service in my life and I was looking forward to my weight loss journey. I feel really betrayed and disappointed, this is not at all what I had hoped for.

Goodlife Fitness

I called a few weeks ago to cancel my gym membership and the Assistant GM called me right away, and was friendly telling me about the services and how to cancel all I had to do was have one more payment come out of my account, then she would set up the paperwork to stop all future payments to come out.

I thought "Wow, that's easy! Good, no hassle no issues and straight to the point." WRONG.

I get a call just now from the same lady (Tory? Tara? not sure) in a frantic voice saying that I need to pay $103 immediately to cancel my membership. I was like UMM no?? NONE of this was explained to me previously, as she had spent 20 minutes before talking about the benefits of the club. Today, she also said "I know you're thinking about keeping your gym membership and have JUMP passes for you, I think you said you have kids, not sure if you do??" FIRST OF ALL - I NEVER said I would think about keeping the gym membership, also, my child is in daycare when I'm working which I had said previously therefore the JUMP program is of no use to me.

As I was NEVER informed in the previous phone call about a cancellation fee (she was clearly more concerned about telling me how "great" Goodlife is and all the "amazing benefits such as the steam room" rather than doing her job properly and telling me that in order to cancel there IS a cancellation fee!!!), this seems rather unprofessional on her part and the club as well to suddenly try to have someone pay when they were never informed of it previously.

She then proceeds to tell me today that "I can't keep track of all the phone conversations I've had in the past weeks, I should have told you about the cancellation fee though." VERY ignorant and rude, therefore as I was not informed of this process I will NOT be paying this fee.

I will not be paying to cancel this ridiculous membership which I've already paid $880 into this over 16 months.

Kk

When I went to sign up for a membership I was given the tour and many times during the tour personal training would keep being mentioned. Which is fine but seemed out of place in the conversation. When I sat down I was shown 2 options for personal training and was asked which one would you like? Not do either of them interest you? It was assumed I was going to sign up for personal training. I instantly felt the pressure. I have anxiety and confrontation is uncomfortable for me. I have been going to the gym for 7 years already. I've always been in good shape and know alot about fitness. I am just changing gyms for the daycare. I kindly let her know I didn't feel I needed the personal training. She gave me a disgusted look and began telling me I would never get a deal like this again and I should just do it and I wouldnt regret it. I should also add I am saving for a house and am on maternity leave so money is tight. But, once again I said no and at this point you could tell I was getting uncomfortable. She knew she was pressuring me. She continued about how I would learn something knew and if I didn't like it I would get my money back. I said no at least 5 or 6 times until I felt so anxious and pressured that I gave in. It bothered me the rest of the day. I couldn't believe the high pressure sale. It was a terrible experience. I expressed to my boyfriend how upset I was and that I really don't want or need the training and it's a waste of money. We talked to them the next morning to get it refunded and they were apologetic and said it would be refunded right away. We waited a few weeks and I noticed my account was still not refunded. I asked and they said a cheque is in the mail. I then got a call about a month later saying that I need to pick the dates for my training. Confused I asked to speak with the manger. The manager was extremely friendly and looked into it and let me know the manager who put it through, who does not work for them anymore did it wrong. He said he corrected it and it will be in the mail and apologized. About half a month later I got another call to book my sessions. I asked to talk to the manager again. He knew who I was and instantly told me that it was in the mail and the new fitness manager just didn't know my situation. I did find that manager very nice and helpful. It has now been about 3 more weeks and I am still waiting. So it is about 2 months later and I have not got my refund of $170+. I heard it may take a while. But I do not understand why and all the confusion. The high pressure sale techniques especially when you are clearly making your customer uncomfortable is unnecessary. The sales team needs better customer service skills and not to just focus on selling and themselves.

Refund

I signed up for team work out and before the classes began I asked trainer to remove my name and refund my money. This was due to office work issue and was 4th day after signup.

I am waiting for a refund for >10 days and now I am told that it may take 6 weeks to get a refund.

Sorry to use this word but this is dishonesty. It took you one minute to charge me and takes you 6 weeks to refund the money though I was told it will be refunded to my same credit card next day morning.

Lost my credit card and $350 cash

Hi Good life,

I am very upset about your client service since Monday June 16th, 2016.
I went to Goodlife on Monday (June 13th) and someone broke my lock on the locker and stole my credit card and all cash (more than $350).
It has happened between 6:50PM and 7:40PM. So, I have reported this to the Goodlife (Victoria Terrace) and to the Police.
Then, I have been to Goodlife yesterday but I don't see any notice or incident update so I got the Headquarter number (1-800-387-2524). Then, I called around 10:45AM on June 16th but it seems the call was hanged up by Goodlife. What kind of service is that.

This was the 2nd stolen and I lost new sneaker before.
I am worried about the security or feel pretty bad about this location as well. What if someone threantens in the men's change room?

If you want, I can also provide the police report detail and incident number.

I want to raise this issue and also why your customer service is so bad (you seem to avoid the client's complaint).

Current management

I have 3 children that I drop off at the JUMP program everyday. I just recently found out that the personal training manager has an extensive criminal record and has spend hard time in jail. How can goodlife employ criminals that are considered dangerous and also have a child daycare. How am I suppose to feel safe with my child there? Such a scam.

Personal Training Costs

I signed up for personal training in 2015 and I am moving to Chicago so I wanted to cancel my membership as well as my personal training. When I went in to the gym the manager said everything was cancelled and that there was going to be no issues with it and that my last payment would be taken out by the 3rd of March. However, come this week a payment was taken out and when I called the gym I had to wait over three hours just to get in contact with a manager and they then preceded to info me that the personal training financing would not be cancelled.

Its very bad to receive this misinformation and not between two different departments of Goodlife but within the same location of the company. I will not be working out at Goodlife ever again!

Thanks for nothing

employee review

I am a long time employee of goodlife fitness in Winnipeg and I wish to share my thoughts. I started with Goodlife 5 years ago as a personal trainer. I nearly left the organization due to not being able to high pressure sell personal training. My manager at the time gave me a pep talk and I somehow managed to make it work. I have years of education and experience, but over the years I've seen 100s of trainers come and go. Most that were unqualified. Being a trainer at goodlife, u accept that your manager is a criminal, your upper management is unqualified and the biggest liar I've ever met, and the sales team is unethical. The management of our gym have eating disorders and drug related issues. It's hard to be a trainer, but I believe in what I do and want to help people.

Personal Training Gone Wrong

I've been in the Personal training program at Goodlife in Windsor. As a result I've gotten bursitis, a shoulder condition that usually affects people in their 40s. Being in my mid 20s this seemed problematic. Because of the contract they said I was unable to do anything. Even though there is a clause in the contract that said the gym may cancel contract due to lack of commitment which I have had because of my injury. My Trainer is supportive to me and I appreciate that. The "manager" aka the person who knows how to talk told me to go seek chiropractic and physiotherapy. Unfortunately I'm not blessed with a job that has benefits as they do and I'm already covering a bill of over $625 a month for the training (not including my gym membership $45 a month) So they referred me to a clinic which I'm sure give him kickbacks for all patients referred. The Goodlife manager Ryan at the Dougall Location seems more concerned in keeping money rather than the health and well being of clients. Definitely not the interest of people's health but rather their wallet. I do applaud him for making the company money over people's health. Great move. I will be no longer a basic gym member of good life. I will be seeking legal recourse for the injury accrued in my work outs. In a logical mind I shouldn't have to pay for sessions that are trying to reverse the damage done to me in the sessions I paid for already. Please be weary of Goodlife Personal training contracts.

"personal trainers" more like glorified counters

I have been a Goodlife member for about 5 years now and have never had any issues until i started to go to the Oakville Oak Park womens only location.

The front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful... the personal trainers...well I wouldn't even call them that. Now maybe it's just me but when I think of personal trainers I think of happy energetic inspiring fit people. This is NOT the case with the "personal trainers at this location. They are the laziest most non inspirational "trainers" I have ever seen! Every single day I see at least 2 of them sitting on benches, picking at their nails, looking at themselves in the mirrors or leaning against machines just counting while their client is paying a whole lot of money to actually be trained.. not just paying for a glorified counter!!

Another issue I have with the trainers at this location is how they think Just because they are "trainers" that they can take up all the equipment. No matter what time of the day I go to the gym every single bench had clipboards, iphones, water bottles all belonging to the "trainers" yet they are no where to be seen. They will be across the gym using the leg press machine yet their clip board is by the dumb bells on a bench that I would like to be using, not looking around to ask to move their things. Now this gym already only has about 5 benches...which should be enough because it's not that big of a gym but it would be nice to have them clutter free especially when the trainer is not even intending on using them... other then a desk for their clipboards of course.

I went to use a bench one day and one of the 'trainers" stopped me from moving it and said she was using it and only had 2 mores sets left. I said no problem and started doing another shoulder workout close by the bench... because hey 2 sets should NOT take more than 5-10 minutes right? Boy how wrong was I!!! Close to 25 minutes later the bench was available. As i watched the "trainer" and client during this 25 minutes maybe 5 minutes was where the bench was actually being used, in between sets instead of the usual 1 min rest there was a 10 minute 'girl talk' going on. All while this sorry excuse for a "trainer" knew I was waiting for the adjustable bench (there are only 2 adjustable benches and the other is a wobbly and needs repairing).

Today at the gym other the usual clip boards everywhere taking up all the benches of course. I went to use the squat rack. As I went to load weights on another "trainer" told me that the other "trainer"was using it, I looked around and no other "trainer" in sight. But oh well because we all know that these futile "trainers" trainers think they own the gym I carried on with another workout waiting for the SQUAT rack... squat is the key work here I believe. 5 minutes into my workout lo and behold who do I see but the other "trainer" that was apparently using the squat rack. As I continue to watch they walk over to the rack I notice the client starting to do non other than... PUSH UPS! PUSH UPS... in the SQUAT rack?!?!? I'm sure a 'trainer' could come up with push ups somewhere else... NOT taking up the ONE and ONLY squat rack the gym has, maybe push ups with hand up on a bench. or against the wall... or even the ledge of the window that is the same height the bar was adjusted to.
COME ON! get creative and stop taking up all the damn machines or maybe when you see someone waiting tell them they can work in between sets with you. But that would mean that the "trainer" has no machine to lean on in between sets.

Another thing that got me going today was when I was using 1 of the 2 adjustable pulley machines. While I was using one, the 2nd one was being occupied by a "trainer" sitting on a swiss ball between the 2 pulleys, while her client was doing lunges in front of her...NOT using the pulley machine what so ever!!!
Of course the 1st thing I though was OF COURSE..IT WOULD BE TOO MUCH WORK AND LOOK WAY TO PROFESSIONAL TO STAND UP WHILE TRAINING A PAYING CLIENT. But I shook my head and though nothing more UNTIL another "trainer came up to me and asked me to move over so she can use the other side of the machine I was on. I looked at her for a second.. then looked over at the other available machine... ONLY 3 feet away. Now I would never have a problem with this if the other machine was being used, but REALLY you are going to ask me... in the middle of my set to stop and move over instead of asking that lazy trainer who is sitting down to get up and use the 2nd machine.

I have NEVER in my live seen 'trainers" like this. The trainers at this location are actually just GLORIFIED COUNTERS". I feel extremely sorry for the clients that are paying A LOT of money for nothing.

Note to these trainers... you want people to take you serious?
Stand up, look professional, smile, look like you want to be there training and inspiring not only your clients but other members in the gym to want to live a healthy fit life.

Goodlife... Honestly have words with this location because this is absolutely THE WORST I have seen. Giving the company a horrible reputation in Oakville.

Personal Trainers

I agree with many of the complaints that I have read. GoodLife Fitness cares only about your money, not about customer satisfaction at all. I did not have a good personal training experience either as many here have spoken about. I injured my back over the course of a couple of months of lifting too much weight and not being reminded to do the pelvic tilt. I was so focused on lifting the weights and breathing that I forgot about my back. I put trust in this trainer to ensure my safety and health. Trying to get out of these sessions is impossible and nobody has apologized or admitted that this personal trainer erred in training me. I will never recommend this fitness facility to anyone.

GoodLife = BAD Life

REFERENCE # A423052

The following is a report on my BAD experience with GoodLife Fitness Centres here in London, On. On Feb, 7th, 2015 I responded to a “3 day free trial” offer in our local paper. I had been considering getting serious about physical fitness, as I am 55 yrs old, borderline diabetic, and about 55 lbs overweight. I was serious about committing to a regime in order to live a longer and healthier life.
I was informed I would have to make an appointment for a tour of the club before I could use the facilities. I understood the marketing reasoning behind this and agreed. I took a friend of mine with me as he was also considering signing up. Before we were allowed to use the facilities, we had to sit through a sales pitch by Rob L. He did his job well, and after some negotiations, my friend and I decided to sign up for an “extended trail” period, and we hadn’t even used the facilities yet. What we negotiated was: trial period to be extended to the end of March, when the 1st bi-weekly payments would begin. Because I have to leave the country for extended periods due to my work, he also specified “no cancellation fee” except he only wrote and signed it on my copy of the contract. He was a good salesman, and was aiming to please the clients he had at hand.
I was supposed to get a call the following Monday from a “Professional” trainer in order to set up an appointment for a consultation and suggested plan of action. After not hearing anything for two days, (except a call from the office asking when I was going to come in to try my 3-day free trial) – somebody dropped the ball there. When I told them I had already been in and signed up, and was waiting to hear from a trainer. Still no response. Another 2 days later I went in to try the club, but had misplaced the business card Rob told me to use for admittance until my membership started. The manger of the Club, Ryan, was quite rude and abrupt with me, as well as very unprofessional when he said “Rob doesn’t have the authority to offer you that…” as well as some other frustrations. Not a good first impression to me. He let me in anyway. After my workout I approached him about the fact that I had not heard from a trainer and could he arrange it? I also mentioned a few things about the club; specifically the bad odour that other members had told me it was an ongoing problem. He made some lame excuse about children and urine? Or something like that. I also mentioned that instead of being contacted by a trainer, I was contacted by the club for me to start my already started trial. More excuses from Ryan.
I finally received a call from a trainer at the club, Dave, and made arrangement to come in the following day at 9am. My time is limited so scheduling is important. I earn $100 an hour, so I need to utilize my time not working. When I arrived at the club I asked the manager Ryan where I was supposed to me the trainer Dave? He said “in the P.T area.” I said, “where’s that”? To which he responded “Didn’t Rob give you a tour of the club either?!” Another unprofessional reaction, making me fee like some kind of flunky. Anyway, he directed me to where I was to meet Dave, and said he would be there to meet me. After notifying the female trainer in the area that I was looking for Dave, she said he wasn’t there yet. I waited awhile and asked her if she could try locate him. She informed me that the manger was tracking him down. After multiple enquiries, after 25 minutes I decided to start my workout, and kept checking in every few minutes or so. I was close by. During the following hour in the club I never seen the trainer, but I did see the manger Ryan, who, even after making eye contact with me a couple of times, never asked me if he had found me. Not impressed!
I decided to try the other location on Adelaide St. The facility was much cleaner and better run – I discovered it was a privately owned franchise. The girl on the front desk as very nice, and helpful too. She helped me arrange a meeting with a trainer there, Adam, who I spoke to in person and tried to arrange a 9AM appointment for the next day. He said he couldn’t because he “didn’t want to come in that early. Lets make it 11 in 2 days”. When I called the next day at 9 to try reschedule, as I had an unexpected business meeting come up, I left a message that I would have to come in at 9, and could he phone to confirm this request. The front desk said she would give the message to Adam. When I arrived the following day for the appointment, the front desk said the had given him the message, but when he came from dealing with another client, he denied it, right in front of the front desk clerk and said “I can maybe fit you in at 1pm”. I just walked away in utter frustration. Like I mentioned, my time is $100 an hour and I don’t appreciate having my time wasted.
I kept attending that club 3 to 4 times a week and working out on my own on the Quick Fit” machines as well as Cardio workouts on the treadmill and recumbent bike. I was trying to be very careful, as I had been dealing with 3 disc herniations in my back for the past 20 years, so I knew what I could/should do, but still wanted to get “professional” advice before I got into it too intense. After about anther 2 weeks I received a call from a trainer at the downtown location where Ryan was manger, and the trainer, Branden, asked me if I’d like to come in for a complimentary training session. I told him I was not impressed with the club and would not be pursuing my membership. A little while later I received a call from Ryan asking why I was unhappy with the club, and I told him. After more excuses from him, I decided to give the club another chance.
I went for my appointment and the trainer was actually there. We went though some tests, personal history, in which I specified quite clearly my issues with my back, specifically a major disc herniation at L4-5. He noted it and we carried on gathering information. He brought me in for another appointment 2 days later, to do some stretches and basic isometric, and, I also though he might suggest some exercises for me to do. Of course, his real motive was to get me to sign up for 6 months of training at $65 per session. I told him I would consider it.
The very next day after my meeting with Branden, I woke up literally paralyzed with pain. I had to crawl to the bathroom, and the pain I was experiencing was worse that I had ever experienced; I was actually afraid because the pain was so permeating in my back and throughout my whole body. I knew it was something my so-called “professional” had made me do in our minor stretch/work out. I was completely bed-ridden that day, and the following day had to be taken to the Emergency Dept at Victoria Hospital by Ambulance. When talking to the Resident Doctor there, after I told her the stretches Branden had me do, she said that was definitely the cause of my pain. She also knew about my medical history. It turns out she was formerly a Sports Medicine doctor, so she knew what she was talking about. She also informed me that the majority of the trainers at GoodLife are NOT professionally trained! It’s been 2 weeks since this injury, and even though I could function after a week, or so I still have considerable discomfort, and have lost any momentum I had established, and will make it even more difficult to get it back. I would expect a minimum of reimbursement of the $45 Ambulance fee, and you may still be hearing from my lawyer. The only reason I have written such a detailed email/posting, although there were still other issues I have not included, was so that you will know what’s going on in your clubs. After talking to many at the club, and seeing reviews online, it appears that your company doesn’t really care, and is counting ion shear numbers to survive. One thing I’ve learned over the years as I have been employed with companies like Toyota Canada and Jim Pattison industries is, the following old adage holds true “If customers are happy, they will tell 10 others, if they’re unhappy, they will tell 100”. Can you guess what I will be doing? I will be pursuing membership in another Club. Surely there must be a truly professional Organization out there! I will await for a response before I spread this “news” to the many people I know, as well as the many social media resources available, but I won’t wait long.

Sincerely,
Professor Steve

To Date, 7 days later, STILL no response or follow up. Obviously consistent in their lack of concern and Customer Service!

GoodLife is a rip off

I purchased a GoodLife personal training membership about 6 months ago for a whopping 7000$ yes that's the truth I have the bills and everything. Either way I tried to cancel my membership with them today because I'm no longer in a position being able to pay 293$ every TWO WEEKS and an additional 60$/month for supposedly just a normal gym year membership that I had no clue of. The gym manager said it was out of his hands since I signed a contract, so I called head office and this lady said there's NO way out unless of some health reasons. Anybody know anything I can do? it's way too expensive!!!

Personal Trainer

Waste of time and money is putting it lightly. I have actually just moved to this country and because of the dramatic change in climate I find it difficult to do my usual fitness routine outside as I have done for years. I joined Goodlife and signed up for ONE personal training session and BEFORE I paid I asked if the PT would show me the machines, show me which ones will be of benefit etc etc and I was informed that yes this would happen. I'm assuming you all know the outcome. None of what was promised came through. The "Life changing" session has only changed one thing in my life and that is that is that i will NEVER pay the money for any personal trainer from goodlife. Staying with the gym is at a push.
Let me paint the picture. I arrive after work (finishing at 3.15) and head to my booked session for 3.30. The PT in question greets me with "YOU'RE LATE" he had me down for three? I asked him why would I book a session for three when I don't finish work until 3.15? I said to him clearly there has been a missunderstanding and if possible we should rearrange for next week. No no he would fit me before his next appointment. - clearly off to a bad start because he was already pissed off for his own error!
He sat me in the room, asked me my goals, weighed me, I told him quite personal things about my weight issue and various childhood problems and he didn't seem to care as he entirely brushed over them. Ranted off percentages and figures to me which made no sense to a girl who has been training to run for the past two years. Everything i've ever done is wrong, and if i keep it up i'll never lose anything. Porridge in the morning is bad for you? If i continue to eat porridge i will never lose weight (1/3 of a cup of oats and 1/2 cup of almond milk and fresh fruit) eat half a dozen eggs, steak and spinach for breakfast is the way to go apparently for a 24 year old girl? I did five minutes of cardio. Three minute squats and two minute plank type exercising and then i was showed how to do a bicep curl. End of session. I told him my thighs were sore as I had done a class the previous day so he didnt show me any of the machines and brought me back to his room and told me I dont drink enough water and that is the reasoning why my thighs were hurting, even though i drink 1-2 litres a day. And then he basically ripped in to me and told me everything I do and have done is wrong and I need im to go anywhere. No positive reinforcement whatsoever. I was holding back the tears, for a man in his position and having a young girl come to them telling him how much she wants to change herself and then for him to be so insensitive and unmotivating I personally think is appauling. Growing weary of this session I just asked him to suggest to me an hours session workout that I could try by myself and he told me no but to do classes. I informed him that when I come to the gym there are no classes on because of the time and he told me "oh well use the machines", funny because I don't know how to! I'm afraid i'll do more damage than good if I use them incorrectly. $50 Dollars isn't a whole lot in comparison to the other peoples comments on this board but it wasn't all about the money, it was my pride and my self worth. As I said the "life changing sessions" will only change your life by informing you that some goodlife personal trainers aren't worth shit. I'm writing into the gym personally to complain about this trainer and informing them that that will no longer be my gym and I am going elsewhere.
