Timeshare Scams

Stories like this occur every day in Mexico; we see people’s faces but not their intentions. Timeshare industry salespeople are known for their aggressive sales tactics and insidious logic. If you were a victim of a timeshare scam by Grand Miramar, or anywhere else, don’t feel disappointed or hopeless. There is more information: http://www.timesharescam.com/

Grand Miramar

We purchased a timeshare at Grand Miramar after a 12 hour high pressure/big promise presentation. When we returned to our resort at night we saw all of the bad reviews on the internet. We canceled the next day in person and then got an order signed by the PROFECO attorney and we sent that via certified mail.
The SCAM ARTISTS/LIARS at Grand Miramar have not yet returned our money although the Mexican law states that you have 5 days in which to cancel. When you call they have all kinds of stories annd many different names though no one has a business card or an email address of their own.

Fortunately I have a personal connection to a lawyer in Mexico and that will be my next step.

I will never give up spreading the word in any way possible. These are the scum of the earth and I hope that each one of them gets exactly what they deserve.

Grand Miramar scam

It seems that hundreds of people have been scammed by Grand Miramar. Like many others agents of the company (in this case John Montalvo, Reme Coja and Alain Patino) promised that the company would sell our existing timeshares for an agreed upon price and that we would receive rental income for unused weeks. This was guaranteed in writing with an addendum to the main contract referenced by contract number. Three months later when we were not receiving the promised money we paid a return visit to the resort and learned that the above three no longer worked there and were being charged with fraud by the company. The new employees then proceeded to attempt a second fraud by saying they could not honor the conditions of the old contract unless we paid five years of maintenance fees in advance! We did not get sucked in a second time.

The company seems to have a record of hiring people who scam tourists. But the tourist protection agency PROFECO is toothless, wasting about two years. When we consulted two separate Mexican lawyers, we were told we could not get our money back. One said we would need two of Montalvo, Coja or Patino to testify on our behalf. It is like Mexico is set up to scam tourists. I am Canadian and if there are a number of Canadian tourists so scammed he is willing to take our case forward. Grand Miramar BIG scam!!

PLEASE READ YOU HAVE 5 DAYS TO CANCEL
I was there this feb as well their game has change they run my card without my approval they say was a misunderstanding
and they can refund my money right away if i sing the receipt ( they had the credit card machine there) i sing it(my fault but i didnt expect to be so crooked ) after the give me a paper with no name only legal rep and a signature(the main guy on the sales was john monty what a supprise i start to thinking that person doesnt exist) with a promise of 100 % of resale to be return to me, after i raise hell they change it to the amount that they charge, but they will return it in 30 days cause it takes time for the whole process to go throw .
I figure or i will start a fight or i have to find a mexican lawyer, i asked and found the tourist police(locate on the building across from the theater on the walk board corner office) most of the plp in there working part time so be there before noon they are really helpful and REALLY try to help you and no the resorts, I guess the must afraid them or they have some kind power over them cause in a ONE day they refund my money and the fees and i figure out the correct name of the legal rep is alex diaz . I m assume he knows what is going on and he looks the other way, but mostlyare the sell plp they dont want you to talk or complain to him for 5 business days (that is by law the time you have to cancel FOR NO FEES) cause after that they take their commission and you are SOL.The worst thing is that most of the salesman are americans or canadians i hope to be able to help someone with this post to avoid felling a victim to those "timeshare sharks"
