Botched mortgage application: Guild Mortgage

Almost 10 months ago my mother and I applied for a home refinance through Guild Mortgage. They put us through months of back and forth: lost paperwork, re-submission of documents we had already submitted,, lengthy periods where we heard nothing, requests for more documents, etc. After over 8 months they said they were ready and we had to sign the loan docs immediately or we would lose our rate lock. At this time I was transitioning to a new job. I communicated all the information about my old job, my end date, my start date at the new job and they said we were in good shape. Then, a few weeks after signing the loan docs they email and say they misunderstood and need the offer letter and HR contact for the new job, which by then I had started. I sent them everything they requested immediately. They also called my mother and told her that she did not need to pay the mortgage that month...that it would be due with the new terms two months later. Then, about a week later they send an email saying they stopped the loan because I had not given them the information about my new job. They acted as if they had never asked for it in the first place. They said they had to start back with the underwriters and left all the details vague. I asked for specific information about their intent and copied a number of people at the San Diego office. Two days later and they have still not responded. This is both unprofessional and negligent. We have lost many months of savings on a loan that we could have reduced as well as lost the rate lock that we were promised we had. I have no idea what options we have at this point but I would strongly recommend you avoid Guild Mortgage.
