HCC Medical Insurance Services

In May of last year I suffered a mini stroke and was in the hospital for two days. Initially HCC refused to even process my claims until they had 5 years of medical records from both the hospital where I was treated and my primary care physician. Once they got that information the denials started rolling in. The only information they provided for the denials was "complication of pre-existing condition". Now I'm not a medical professional but I just can't wrap my head around what condition they might think I had (I had never had a stroke before) that would allow them to deny my claims. When I finally did get a live person on the phone to get clarification on the condition they are basing their denials on the response I got was "well I see here in your medical records that you saw your doctor two years ago for a disc problem in your back". I was initially speechless, then enraged and then calmly asking what process I would do through to get an official, detailed report that substantiated their denials. I had previously been told to upload my appeal of the denied claims to their website which I had done twice. This time I was told that I had to mail my appeal to them. That was over a month ago and I have still received nothing. I have since been turned over to collections by the hospital which is sure to destroy the perfect credit record that I have maintained all of my life. And the emotional stress is unbearable. Shouldn't they be prosecuted for this? This, to me, is criminal and cruel behavior. I don't understand how they can get away with destroying peoples lives while they line their pockets with our monthly premium dollars. If anyone is still looking for individuals to join in a class action suit against them I'm all in.

Claims denied as pre-existing....bogus!

I purchased the 6-month health policy. About a month into it, I went to the ER for food impacted in my esophagus. One thing led to another, a biopsy was done, and I was diagnosed several weeks later with esophageal cancer. It is terminal. The last thing I want to do is saddle my family with huge medical bills. So you can imagine the comfort I took in knowing that I had insurance, even if the deductible was high. Terminal cancer is a nightmare. But some things make the emotional pain even more unbearable. Imagine my complete dismay when the HCC excuse letters started pouring in. First, a stack (no shorter than 2 inches, no kidding) of letters saying they've requested additional information, but haven't received it, and "your claim may be denied if the information is not received within 10 days." Of course, there was no explanation of what was requested, or from who. Then, the worst. The denials started coming. Pre-existing condition they say. Here are the exact words about pre-existing conditions from my policy: "Charges resulting directly or indirectly from a condition for which a covered person received medical treatment, diagnosis, care or advice within the 60 month period immediately preceding such person's effective date are excluded for the first 12 months of coverage hereunder." I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think I need to be a lawyer to understand that wording. I did not receive treatment, diagnosis, care or advice for esophageal cancer any time in the past. So using HCC's own definition, I don't see how they can call my condition pre-existing. Obviously they are in business to make money and NOT to help when someone actually needs insurance coverage.

big rip off

Danger, Red Alert, Do not even consider buying any kind of service from these scammers. Before even considering buying this service I called their customer service number to make sure I would quilify for coverage. They ask on their questionnaire about certain things that would be considered pre-existing conditions. I went to hospital a few weeks before signing up for insurance for chest pain, turned out that it was just acid reflex (heartburn) I told the women from customer service that and she said that would be no problem with getting coverage since I was not diagnosed with any kind of contrition needing further treatment or prescribed any kind of medicine from the pharmacy. So I sign up for the coverage thinking that I would have some sort of piece of mind until I could get on my employers plan. Boy I was ever wrong, a few weeks after having the coverage I all of a sudden began having chest pains again, thinking I was have some sort of heart issue I went to the ER, fortunately it was just some stomach issues like before (acid reflex). The hospital filed with insurance for payment, and low and behold they denied the claim saying that chest pain is a pre-existing condition. Makes no sense to me and my doctor says the same how in the heck can heart burn be a pre-existing condition? Now have been filing dispute claims with them to no avail. Should of looked into finding out more about this scamming company from the BBB and this site before doing business with them. No out of the premiums that I paid and probably stuck having to pay all the hospital bills as well.

Hcc medical are scam artists

Does anyone have any information that would lead me to either a active lawsuit or class action lawsuit against this company? I have all the same issues with hcc as mentioned above. Would have been cheaper for me to have no insurance at all. At less stress and headache. Please email me at [email protected] with any information. Thanks in advance.

HCC denied claim for me

Purchased HCC coverage in order to avoid tax penalties. Went to the doctor because of some pain in my leg. Turned out to be limes disease... HCC denied all the related bills because the doctor drew fluids from my knee. Apparently some hidden clause states they don't cover joint related issues.... This insurance is bogus. Been sending them all the documents to fight it but they keep saying they need more and more information... Don't know what to do, this insurance is not insurance at all. Help!

not paying claIMS

I bought this insurance in March 2014 and then had medical emergency. I was able to pay the 7500 deductible and it is May and they have not paid one thing. At first it was endless fill out this claim form. Then no medical records which I sent three times certified mail. Make sure that you send everything certified mail so you have proof. May 8th I talked to representative and when I gave them certified mail number they magically found my records and said they would start paying claims in 10 to 15 business days. May 20 my records disappeared for the third time and after talking to them they found them and I was told I had 60 DAY review. They that they pay all claims within 30 days and there is no clause about a 60 day medical review. I have a lawyer now who after talking to a supervisor was told that a top boss would be calling her the next day. She did not get a call and called them back next day and was told that person was not there. We are in process of lawsuit. In California I can sue for double what the medical bill was and for suffering. I was told that once you have a lawyer they will pay cause they do not want to pay double but this does not seem the case. Good luck to everyone else having problems. Make sure you report them to your state insurance comissioner and the Better Business Bureau.

Not Paying Claims

HCC is the worst medical insurance I ever had. They did not pay anything.
Always sent forms asking for more information. How does one get a class
action suit going?

Is there anyone who benefitted from buying Insurance with HCCMIS?

As I went through the same bad experience as most of the people who have written on this complaint board, I am trying to find if there is anyone consumer at all who benefitted from buying HCCMIS insurance?

If not, it's time to stop this nonsense. After all this is America where people like Bernie Madoff are siting in jail.

It seems only the owners of HCCMIS have benefitted. I did some rough calculation of how much these guys would make by duping us, the numbers are staggering.

I am seriously looking at all my options. Not doing anything and letting HCCMIS fool consumers is definitely not an option.

Respond to my note if you want to do something about HCCMIS fraud.

Please stay away from ATLAS INSURANCE FROM HCC MEDICAL INSURANCE

Please stay away from ATLAS INSURANCE FROM HCC MEDICAL INSURANCE . This is the worst insurance i have seen and this is my first insurance for my parents who are listed from India .

My Mother Visited ARC Hospital in Austin in July for her severe stomach pain and Dr. Examined her and then prescribed Medicine for Diverticulitis .

After that HCC has sent a claim form which i have filled and sent back to them and now HCC has sent an Explanation of Benefit for Claim saying saying Reason Code # 86 which means this file has been closed due to lack of requested information from our Provider .

I was searching other websites like IMMIHELP,INSUBUY and saw the same review like HCC MEDICAL INSURANCE always deny customers claims even though we provide all information . It is like they will always try to harass us wherever possible .

My sincere request from my experience is that , don't buy this insurance and also don't buy this from INSUBUY who acts as an agent who will not support when you are in need .

claim non-fullfillment

I signed up with HCC in Novemeber of 2013. I called and did all the necessary pre-check in order to go see a doctor at urgent care for a kidney stone. I also mailed in all the paperwork to the insurance company as asked. Since then, I've been told that my claim has been denied and I can not get in contact with any insurance agent at the company. Either, I'm on hold for an hour, or I leave my number and never receive a call back. I have even emailed them numerous times with no response. Is anyone else currently having similar issues? Please email me at [email protected]

Claim non-fullfilment

I purchased insurance for my Dad and Mom who visited me from India to see my son. My father was admitted to Emergency due to severe stomach ache. It was determined by ER doctors that my father had a blocked gall stone in the bile duct and it was life threatening. He has to undergo MRCP, ERCP and Cholecystectomy surgery. As per pre certification guidelines from HCC, I called up HCC claims specialist and made her talk with ER doctors regarding the upcoming surgery.
I sent ER notes and reports to HCC for expediting the claims to the hospitals. HCC denied the claim saying that it was a pre existing condition. I strongly feel that we need to file a law suit against this insurance company. My father’s HCC id: A9855708

Claim non-fullfilment

Hello all, I was about to purchase short term insurance for my 23/y/o who is between college and grad school. I saw the HCC info and was thinking of getting 6 mo insurance... But fortunately your observations, warnings and complaints made me decide against it. Thank you. BTW.. with the gradual implementation of Obamacare, the gov has set up this very useful website http://www.healthcare.gov/index.html which has good tools to purchase insurance now, pending the changes with Obamacare.
I used it and got insurance for my daughter ( temporary) at a better rate than HCC.. besides insurer than post on this govt website need s to be vetted.. Best to all
