iBackup is NOT iRestore

March 9, 2018 made a request for an iDrive complete backup to be sent to me. Paid the extra for next-day delivery. Heard nothing that Thursday, Friday, Saturday. In the meantime I created a ticket, called for status, emailed. No response until Sunday. The auto-email said the drive had been created (84 hours after the original request.) USPS emailed on Monday 3/12 that a shipping label had been created. Received the drive Thursday 3/15.
iBackup is a great backup tool but one does not purchase the service for backup (yes, essential) but for the restore. If you can wait over a week for your restore to happen, then iBackup is a good service. Businesses beware. Can you be down for a week or more?

Eviul tricks against customers

I was a customer of ibackup for two years, and, after being notified by email on Nov 27, 2016, I sent ibackup an email on Dec. 1, signaling my cancellation.

Later that same day, Ibackup sent me an email saying that I call a customer service number. I called the number, selected the billing department and got to horrific noise --- a loud sound like being in a power plant. It went on for some minutes. Only later did I learn that that was ibackup's idea of "music on hold"......

Two weeks later I learned, from my credit card bill that ibackup had debited my credit card for a renewal 1900 dollars! A lot for a small business like mine.

As a reaction, I called the sales number and spoke to a person. I requested as cancellation and a refund. That was two days ago. Today I learned, via email, that my refund has been denied. Ibackup does not accept email cancellations.

This company is spooky. I think it is actually going out of business but is not telling anyone. Its product is now obsolete, as there are many more backup solutions available for a lot less money. By denying my demand, Ibackup is actually committing larceny as well as breach of contract and of customer faith.

I must remind everybody that Im talking about a backup company -- which has to be run by people who can be trusted. I now wonder about whether the backups are any good. Imagine losing a lot of data only to find that your backup supplier simply denied service because you didn't call a hard-to-get-to customer service department! Obviously the people who own ibackup, a company called Idrive, is in financial difficulty, or is being run by pirates. I believe that if you fear for your data security, a switch to another means or supplier of backup is a good idea.
