bad service on an expensive ring

My boyfriend had purchased a diamond ring from the Arundel Mills Maryland store and was happy with the purchase. So when he decided to have a custom made diamond ring made, he went back to the same jared. BIG MISTAKE #1.. Helen, the person that was supposed to draw up the design stated that she would call with an update on the ring design and never called. We had to go out there for an update. He called and there was no progress of the ring, so he decided to go to jared in Waldorf Maryland. BIG MISTAKE #2...We explained to them the problems we had and had to started the process all over again with them. They assured us he could get what he wanted with the "great staff" working on it. They never called with updates of, we had to go out there several times, and they acted as if we were taking up their time. Robert, the man that assists with custom jewelry designs started the work. Again, we got no updates on what was being done. Again we had to go out there. We were told Robert was on vacation for a week. They turned us over to a manager. Again we had to go to jared to find out what was going on. We took pictures so they would have a reference. We again went out there because we never got a call as to the progress as we were told we would. I called and the manager told me that they finally had 2 castings (wax molds) of his ring and that she was going to call me to let me know. We went out there to see the castings and so he could choose one of the two. When we got there, we were told that the manager was on vacation. Instead of “CASTINGS", there was one PICTURE drawn and they had already chose the design for his ring. We were both pissed and tired at this point. I told the sales person what was told to me and why we were there. She called the manager and the manager stated something totally different. She LIED! At that point he cancelled the order. That was their loss of a $17,000.00 ring; he even left messages for the corporate manager Rick, who HAS NOT returned the call. They have very poor customer service and are all about getting your money. We will NEVER deal with jared again. In hindsight, they are way overpriced. You should not have to chase someone down, giving them your money for unacceptable service. ON THE UP SIDE: we went out of the country and found a much nicer ring, better diamonds, half the cost, so THANKS JARED!
