Windows

Please do not do business with k by design windows. They are horrible, for starters they lie, cheat and steal. Do not return calls. Im perplexed why they exist. A class action suit is what they need. Call,7078034818 if interested in compensation, a group is more effective. I am sure we could put a stop to their criminal behaviors

The company lies, cheat, steals. On top of that there workmanship sloppy, material quality horrible. I am interested in class action suit, please call 707-803-4818 if you'd like compensation.

Sliding windows

I was very disappointed in this company. After listening to a speech for 4 hours(!!) I finally said I would buy the windows. I needed new windows & the sales rep showed me a sample of windows that could be cleaned from the inside by just "folding" them to the inside. It was very easy & I thought it would be nice to have when I get older. That was the real reason I was willing to pay a higher price. The rep was so willing to sell me these windows at his price that he even talked to a bank or something to get me a loan at 9% that very day. At least I got smart on that & went to my own bank for 3% interest. When the windows arrived, I watched the men doing the work. They really seemed to know what they were doing & did a good job. I have nothing against them. But the windows didn't look like the easily washable type & asked them about it. They said to clean them you "just have to lift them out of their groove & onto the floor & then lift them back into the groove when you are finished." All are over 3 ft. tall & some are 24" wide, and they are very heavy. There is no way I can lift them out. Even on the sheet I signed when they finished I mentioned that I didn't get the windows I was promised. I called the rep I had talked with, & he said, "he was sorry that the sample he showed me was smaller than the original & I had the wrong idea". But he had promised the kind that went down & cleaned easily. He tried to placate me by offering to pay for window washing, but said he couldn't find anyone in my town. Then he said they would send me $500 for it. It took several months for that, but it was a small amount compared for what they charged me. Comparing the windows I wanted (now I see them in Window World) with what I got, I paid about 4 times the price of others & still didn't get what I was promised. Don't do business with this company. I had checked Better Business Bureau & they had a good review. I hope that changes.

Unimpressed with installation and service

My wife made the mistake of inviting one of the K-Designer sales reps to our house (she's a sucker for those who ignore the national do-not-call list).

After telling the sales rep it was a mistake, I felt bad, and remembered that my back door was in terrible shape. So I had him draw me up a proposal of a French door replacement that looked nice.

It took over two months for them to show up to install it. Then, when it was installed, I was unable to be home to inspect the work. But being the trusting fool I am I had the installer meet me by where I work so I could sign the paper and fill out the survey.

BTW: What good is a survey if the installer is standing right there watching you fill it out and watching your answers?

I paid the full balance of $5,465 (yes they are expensive). When I got home I found that the red brick outline they promised was never installed. The installer knew nothing about this. The door knob was defective so the door will not stay in place unless I manually rotate the post that catches in the latch plate just right. The door doesn't completely seal so cold air will get in when the temperature drops.

I contacted the sales rep several times. He kept promising me it would be made right. But the he stopped replying to my text messages altogether. I considered setting up a repeated text message to his phone that sends every 30 minutes saying "fix my overpriced door".

But I opted to open a complaint with the main HQ. I was forced to leave a message, but a nice lady called me back and took my information. I was told to expect a call the following Tuesday. I never got a call.

I called her back and she told me that they had all their people involved with installations and it would take some time. The message I heard was "we are too busy making more revenue from folks who haven't paid yet to attend to those who already did pay and got screwed".

I am still waiting for a call back. It seems that the one company about whom I am close to filing a complaint with the BBB-- is the one company whose first boast during the sales pitch was how good of a rating they have with the BBB.

Regardless of what happens I will likely never do business with this company again and will actively dissuade anybody I know from it.

Horrible Business Experience!!

I have called the folks in Billings well over 25 times to purchase siding for my garage that matches the siding on my home over the last two months. All I needed was the siding and trim pieces. I can't even remember all of the excuses and delays they delivered; not to mention the inability of them to return calls and messages. Promises of installation crews delivering the siding last week, free shipping, blah, blah blah. I even offered to drive the 300 miles to pick it up myself! TWO MONTHS....all I need is siding for my garage! I don't understand why Gentek or any other siding manufacturer would allow them to sell their products.

Fraud and cheating

I don't work for k- design but I was one of the poor suckers that fell for their sales pitch on the windows and siding. Since the siding was installed I have had them come back three times to repair the siding that fell off the house. They used 2" nails the first time and didn't even try to hit the studs, that lasted about four months. Second time they came to the house they just put more nails in where ever they thought it might do some good. This lasted about another six months. Last fall, after many phone calls to their office in Billings Mt. they finally showed up to do the repairs. This time they used screws but just randomly placed them and sometimes not even to the wall, they would just screw them to each other. WOW! Since then I have picked up hand fulls of screws from the yard around the house that have fallen out of the siding. Not knowing where they came from I just collected them. We recently had a wind storm and several pieces of the siding came loose and fell off. Now I know where the screws came from. I am in the middle of calling them for more repairs. I wonder how long it will take this time. Thats just the siding. I also purchased 5 windows from them. they were great if you like dirt and cold air blowing through your house. I called and complained to them for 6 months before they finally came and replaced them. These people will lie, cheat, and steal from you. They will tell you they will be there to do repairs sometime during the week and not show up, no phone call or anything. Then when you call to see why they didn't come they make up some sorry ass excuse. When they do finally show up they act like you made them go out of their way to please you. what B.S. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE UNTRAINED AND UNPROFESSIONAL in the installation field. One thing they are good at is the sales pitch, but that is all it is a sales pitch. Don, t buy into it.
