My 88-year-old mother called the National Magazine Exchange to enter their sweepstakes & was sold 11 magazine subscriptions totaling over $268. She put it on her credit card, but thought that she was only subscribing to 1 magazine. I immediately called the number they gave her to cancel her order and pressed all 3 options (and -0- which was not an option), calling the number 4 times. I was never able to get a person on the line to cancel the order (it wasn't an option), Hmmmm. Today she received a letter that confirmed her payment via credit card of $268 and said that she had 7 days after receipt of the letter to cancel her order. Today is April 13. The letter was dated April 5 and it was postmarked April 7. I sent the company an email cancelling the order this evening and will call them to follow-up tomorrow. I'm anticipated at least a 30 minute wait to get through. I will also call the credit card company and see about getting this payment removed. Hopefully, I will have some luck and she won't have to pay this ridiculous amount of money to receive Outside, Shape and ESPN magazines. THIS COMPANY PREYS ON OLDER PEOPLE AND USES HARD SALES TECHNIQUES TO ROB THEM OF THEIR MONEY!!!
