bad service

My husband and I went to dinner at Pinelli's restaurant with my sister and her husband for Valentines day. The night started off very nice. We ordered drinks then ordered dinner. While starting to eat our dinner the waitress serving the table behind us dropped her tray full of food. Because of this my husband and I ended up getting food splattered all over us. I turned my head and got sauce splattered on my forehead. It was all in our hair on our clothes and all over our coats on the back of our chairs. That wasn't even the worst of it. The waitress never came over to apologize. We had to get a bus boy to get us some napkins so we could clean ourselves off (we never even got that). Finally I got up and went to the ladies room to try and clean some of it out of my hair. My husband in the mean time asked someone to get the manager. When the manager came over he apologized and came to the ladies room, waited outside till I got out to see if I was ok. At that point he did take our coats and cleaned off as much as he could. He then brought us a $25 gift certificate, but at the same time gave us our bill and charged us the full amount. Any other restaurant would have given us our meals for free because of the mistake their employee made. But not this restaurant. My husband and I were very upset. We could have made a seen over what happened but didn't. Our night was ruined because we couldn't go anywhere after that because we smelled and had food in our hair. The only thing we could do was go home and take a shower. The next day I brought our coats and my husband shirt to the cleaners. Few days later my husband brought the bill to the manager at the restaurant, which he paid. My husband told him we were both very upset and would never go back there again. He told my husband to come back and he would take care of us. To little to late. He should have taken care of us that night, not wait till we told him we wouldn't go back.

bad service

How do you know any other restaurant would comp your entire meal? I don't think the manager mishandled the situation at all.
