unethical sales techniques

I have been using ACG internet security for many years. recently I am very unhappy about their unethical sales techniques, for example, popup windows (asking me to buy their services) that could not be closed unless you turn your computer off. Late last month I have encountered another problem related to my AVG license. A popup window indicates that AVG does bot recognize my license number and asks me to reenter it. Once I entered the number the problem is resolved. However, same thing happened again every time I restart my computer. I called the technical support and was told that the problem was caused by Windows update(really?). The technician said that he has to remotely access to my PC in order to fix the problem and will charge me a fee of $199.99. To make the deal more appearing, he promised me a one year technical support and extending my AVG license for one more year from 7/18/2017 to 7/18/2018 without additional charges. He also said that he will send me an email to confirm his promises. Even though I believe that license problem should be fixed without charges I reluctantly accepted his demand. Well, the confirmation email never came. After called them several times again I finally got an email, given me a one-year free AVG (not extending my current license) and no mention about the one-year free technical support. I have no choice but to stop my credit card payment. Oh, I forgot to mention that during the process they tried to sell me other products such as update my drivers etc. This is no longer the AVG I knew. Perhaps the original company had been bought by someone with less ethical standards.

On 23/05/16 Phoned through AVG site regarding my AVG security which had crashed .Rang the Engilsh Freephone number after a diagnosis they told me my pc had a virus and I needed ,in their opinion AVG ultimate at £159.99. Paid half up front and the rest to be paid monthly it was remotely installed but does not work. on 27/05/16 through AVG site requested a refund( 30 day no quibble refund guarantee) received a email from AVG stating it was one of their resellers who I dealt with and the refund has to be with them as AVG had no record of the payment so after a search found a phone number which put me through to the Phillipeans were I spoke with 4 different people and was put on hold for half an hour before they cut me off. I then went back to AVG who gave me 2 phone numbers one put me in touch with 'the hot chilli canteen' ( 0800854139) who in a recorded message gave me the full menu and opening times. With the other 18442346039 I managed to reach a lady in the same town as my self but don't know but now has all the details. Awaiting word from bank as to what I concider a scam. Disappointed in AVG having resellers and partners like this. have been with them for a number of years and been satisfied until now

Refund Request/Unable to use product

I was having difficulty with my computer (which has since crashed) and ordered the Reimage Repair software from these folks. It was advertised for $39.99, but final charge was $69.99.I initially disputed things with PayPal, and provided a link where the price was the advertised $39.99. The company took no action on the claim (never even acknowledged it) so I escalated it. I'm not sure what these good folks told PayPal since I am apparently not privvy to it, but long story short, I am out $70. PayPal wouldn't even resolve the dispute in such a way to allow me to get at least half of it back. The $40 would have been bad enough but considering that their program started doing its thing, moving files around, and then oddly enough, it hung that made it worse. I let it hang for upwards of three hours, then shut the computer down. Upon restart, the thing wouldn't even boot up (and still won't). So, I am out $70, and looking at either a new HDD and OS software or a new computer altogether. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

AdvancedTech Support

Advanced Tech Support charged me $180.00 for "Fix and Support Service" plus $ 19.99 for 1 pc Extended Support.
My pc does not work faster after their so-called service.
I paid after some hard sale a further $ 386.00 for Panda Internet Security (for life of computer).
I was not able to activate the security software. I am not getting a reply from AdvacedTechSupport.
I believe this transaction to be a scam.

Applying for refund

On wed.24 Jan.2014 I purchased virus securty from AVG.Australia.While trying to set up AVG securty,I got a pop up from Optimizer Pro that i clicked on cost me $34.99.My I/D no for this purchase is UPRO-A220114-82BGR.Sales person then put me on to some one from QRESOLVE who hard sold me virus securty after I told him I all ready had AVG & AVG Tune up.He told me they could not fix my problems.Under stress I purchased the product.Cost $226.41.My customer No 3072931157. Receipt I/D CALL-U2201141109-35MDX. With all this security my computer has not changed much.I have been in touch with AVG and i received in the mail to-day A Disk&AVG told me to uninstall any other anti-virus software before I install AVG Internet Security or Anti Virus. As I purchased AVG. first I would appreciate a refund for the above 2 Items. I relise I was a party to all this but my computer cant handle all this anti-virus software. As AVG is a local Co.it is a lot easier for me time wise & money wise to stay with them. I hope you understand & I here from you favourable shortly. M.T.Gould
