Craked glass panel on Samsung plasma TV

My Plasma TV developed a star burst crack a little to the left of center of the TV and it no longer turns on. We did not pay for a warranty luckily , but the fact that this crack just appeared out of the blue, by just sitting on the stand is very odd. I'm not sure how this occured, I just came home one day and the crack was there and well, from all accounts our $425 TV is useless now and we cannot recover our money from this at all. It seems that the product is not covered under any kind of warranty or that Samsung is willing to admit its a defect from all the comments that I see online.

Quite dissapointed, maybe we can all get together to file sometme of class action lawsuit to recover some of our investment. I had naver paid this much for a TV and now its lasts just 1 month shy of 2yrs.
If you plan to file a lawsuit or anyone wants to add my name to this issue. please do so : My name is Ensly Rafael , 2715 Kivett Dr,Greensboro,NC,27407..

Thanks.

Internal Cracks on Screen

I agree completely,

have the same problem with my Samsung 58" plasma. My colleague had the same happen to him on the same day with his 65". Did same thing and Samsung customer service has been horrible. Says the damage is physical abuse, there is no damage whatsoever on the external glass yet the internal glass shatters in a star like pattern

I have researched this some to try to refute Samsung's response, the star shaped fracture is indicative of a physical impact, (look on forencics sites) However, does this make sense for the inner glass breaking.

either way, my argument is that clearly there is a manufactruring or design defect in the glass if so many panels are breaking in the same manner. Is anyone aware of any possible class action law suit against samsung for this. They just settled the classaction for the capacitor problem so maybe it will take a nother class action law suit to get them to move on this matter.

Internal Cracks on Screen

We had a 58" Samsung Plasma TV for a year. It was extremely hot when on. I called Samsung. They said all the plasma TV screens are very warm up to 107 degrees emmition. Our screen developed a star-burst crack. Sent pictures to Samsung. They also told us, it was hit with something. NO IT WAS NOT!! Best Buy told us they sold the exact Plasma TV only a larger screen and the screen blew out of the entire TV. At the tune of $700 we could have replaced the screen. I don't think so with all the problems they have with this plasma TV and we are'nt taking a chance with a fire later on. Will NEVER buy Samsung product again. I find it hard to believe they are not aware of the default of the system. VERY ANGREY CUSTOMER. Noblesville, Indiana
