Normally I book hotels via the Priceline or other such sites but when I'm not sure if I'll make it to the hotel I try to book via the actual hotel's Web site where most hotels will offer refunds if canceled before the stay. Well, I THOUGHT I was using the hotel's site, which looked like it was and the URL contained the hotel's name but it was actually hijacked by reservationcounter.com.
I found out this Expedia owned URL charged me for the entire stay and booked me in a horrible smoking room. Could not sleep, all my luggage now stinks after two days. The hotel did not have any open non-smoking rooms. PS: I will never stay at any hotel that still has smoking rooms, period.

Yea, my bad, should have checked closer but Expedia hides behind these phoney URL. I will Never, Never! Use Expedia ever again and I travel often for work.
