Been smoking the fresh taste for a few years and enjoy the taste. You 1st cut it down to 19 then 18 NOW you cut down to 17 how about you cut the price as well. You charge £6.99 for 20 then you cut them down to 17 but the price stays the same. How about you cut the price to reflect the quantity of the cigarette's in the box, play fair and have some consideration for the smokers who buy your product and keep you all jobs. With out us you will go out of businesses then you will wish you listened to you customers.

Y when I ask 4 20 sterling menthol, do I open my pack 2 find 18? I thought the first pack was just a mistake . But every pack I have had is the same. Can u tell me y please? Its not wright from Mrs gower

I have been smoking sterling menthols for many years, but twice recently I have bought packets with only 18 in. I am aware that packets only contain 19 now, but being undersold twice is very disappointing. Players sell 18 (advertised as 18) and they only cost £5.99, so why am I paying £7.14 for 18 sterling. If this isn't resolved I'll change brands permenantly.

i know the cigarettes are supposed to be 19 in a pack as that is what it states everywhere when you research it. But since when was it supposed to be 18 in a pack? please do tel me as i am intruiged. Not once have i known it to be 18 in a pack and the simple fact is you are not advertising how many is in a pack anymore which i find disgusting. on a 10 pack it state how many cigarettes are in a pack on the side and it was the same as to when it was supposed to be 19 in a pack it was also stated on the side of the cigarette packet. but now as it has come o my attention it is no longer stated i would like an answer!

You obviously know that this is not an isolated occurrence - the comments make it very clear, and that no one wants to respond to them!
I am gong to purchase, video and then send to Trading Standards and see what happens. Probably nothing as no one wants to be bothered and respond to anyone of the many comments about this?!

I have noticed on the packs of ten that you clearly have 10 printed on the side of the box. On the '20' packs the number 18 is discarded when you remove the cellophane from the box. Are you hoping people won't notice and be non the wiser. Naughty.

I have smoked sterling for as long as I can remember them being made, I think it is absolutely vile that I am being conned out of cigarettes when the price of them are raising constantly as it is. Yes it is my addiction I am feeding so should not moan about price but being conned out of cigarettes is disgusting.
Sterling should really learn what customer service is. I will now be swapping to a different brand that clearly label their boxes and listen to their customers! I have also advised all my family and friends to do the same.

I note that I am not the only one to complain about this. I do note however that you have chosen not to respond to any comments regarding your selling of packets of 20 cigarettes with only 18 in them.

Considering that the tobacco industry has been curtailed with regard to advertising and so forth, WE, the smoker, are your greatest aficionado at this point and time. This said, you have chosen to dupe and cheat us with not so much as an excuse me!

I always buy my cigarettes in 100. Each time I go into the shop I say 100 Sterling Superking Red. At no time have I been told that there is only 95 when they reduced the pack to 19 and at no time have I been told that they are only available as 90 now the pack has been reduced to 18. Neither have Sterling made this known to the public. This surely cannot be legal. If I asked for a chicken and the leg was missing the butcher would tell you, he wouldn't just pack it up and hope you didn't notice and still charge you the same price. It would seem that the Tabasco industry is trying to follow the confectionery industry buy reducing the package size, sell at the same price and don't tell anyone. Do they really think we are a bunch of idiots and we wouldn't know??? Trading standards need to get involved and stop these industries conning, YES CONNING, the public. They do for anything else, roofers, Windows etc infact anyone who misrepresents what they sell. This goes for the supermarkets who sell the goods on behalf of manufacturers and who don't say that the product is not exactly what you asked for. If I ask for 100 cigarette, I expect to get 100 cigarettes unless I'm told otherwise.

I have been buying the sterling brand for as long as I can remember, but this few weeks I have onlt been getting 18 in a pack instead of 19. Please could you tell me why this is happening? I do enjoy the sterling brand, but if Im only getting 18 in a pack I would rather pay the extra money to get 19 in a pack. Ive asked the shop keeper about this and I they have said that many other customers have complaint about the same issue.

Its not only sterling that are only putting 18 cigarettes in a pack of twenty but sovereign superkings and king size are doing the same. They have not informed anyone of this and it does not state on the pack although the pack remains the same size. I smoke 20 a day so in actual fact in a week at least that is what i thought. So really I am 14 cigarettes short and to estimation that means the tobacco company owes me around £5 a week . It is theft.

Feel like I've been robbed!!! This is effectively fraud, Why does it not state amount on the pack?? Why are shop keepers not being informed?? So they can inform the customer. It's a scam, Im asking for 20 and getting 18. We wouldn't accept a burger from mcdonalds with a bite out of it, so let's not stand for this. I for one will not be buying this brand again nor any other who fail to mark clearly the contents of its packs.

Trading standards need to get involved asap!!

I purchased a pack of supposed to be 19, as I know 20 no longer exists for sterling dual cigarettes and only got 17 with that half of them would not even click to become dual! Its about £7 a pack, I should just purchase the b&h dual ones, yes they are £8-£9 ish but least Il get 20 and not 17 instead of 19 or even 18 and they do as they supposed to..not impressed and very disappointed.

I have passed my complain on to our local trading standards team as well, due to it being a multi named complaint. My complaint is as follows,
You did not notify anyone of a change between 20 cigarettes in packs down to 19 you have again dropped the amount from 19 to 18 and i assume from seeing other complaints your machines cannot account accurately at that level as it would appear some people are only finding 17 cigarettes in a pack. Let's take the lower part of the issue 20 down to 19 Now in law you are committing fraud by deception as people are asking for 20 cigarette and only receiving 19 no differential in the price is stated and no other option is available therefore if you ask for one thing but get another with no ability to rectify the mistake it is in fact fraud, the deception part is where you make out by General sales that in fact there are 20 in a box (basically by removing the 20 stamp you have not covered yourself you have omitted the amount which is a deceptive act). Ah you say but we only make the product not sell it so we are not at fault the retailer is. This is also not a plausible or legal argument tobacco products are now only sold in 10 or 20 packets, you cannot buy single cigarettes. Which brings us back to you. people know cigarettes are only sold in 10 or 20 packs they will ask for 10 or 20, if they do not recieve the stated amount in a sealed box then the fault lies with the manufacture not the point of sale as they are selling a sealed product in good faith the requirement for rhe retailer to put right a sales mistake cannot be done at point of sale so it must be referred back to the manufacture IE you!
So in fact I state yet again by not notifying your customers of a drop in quantity of a product but charging the same amount as competing brands and giving no ability to reclaim the missing paid for item you are committing fraud, by omitting to state the drop in quantity and hoping no one notices your are deceiving your customers therefore fraud by deception (in layman a terms as this post is long enough without getting to technical)
I would urge all the other complainants to contact there trading standards departments and raise this issue.
I have case law research regarding similar issues and as sterling does not appear to Have the guts to reply to posts then it's time the law and the authority's take up this and put it right.

After almost fifteen years of spending approximately seventy pounds a week on my Sterling smooth, I too will be changing brands.
What a con. I would rather pay that little bit more for a full pack of twenty than contribute to the Sterling coffers, and oh yes what on earth have they done to them that makes them keep going out? I complained about this some years ago but there has been no improvement. Let us all punish them where it hurts and move our custom to a company we can trust.

I previously purchased a pack of what I was thinking was '20 Sterling Fresh' because I like that fact that I can click it to make a fresh taste towards the end of my fag. When I opened them, I noticed on the wrapper in small that there were only 18 in a pack. If I'm paying £6.99 then I want to box full as that is how it should be. Not to fill up the front two lines and be discreet about it. Not a happy customer at all.

Well what can I say false advertising by Sterling 20 fags to 19, consumer was told by them warning you of the change fair enough, but to now change the amount to 18 with no warning whatsoever and change in the price being lower, non existent, I am absolutely discussed. Sterling you robbing barstools!! I will be changing my brand, I am not happy and I have been a loyal customer for many years. You seem to forget that I am paying you???

As the adverse comments state i too am disgusted at the reduction from 20 to 18 cigarette's per pack.What happened to packet notification indicating the number contained in each pack.No doubt Sterling will tell you that in order to maintain their current low price reductions in quantity was necessary. They will no doubt avoid any trading standard's investigations due mainly to employing 'fat cat' lawyers acting on their behalf. They have also removed the term 'Britain's favourite brand' from their packets as they had the foresight of knowing that their turnover will decrease as more and more smoker's realise that they are being 'conned'. I too will be changing my brand irrespective of the increased costs in going over to an 'honest' brand but at least i will have the satisfaction of knowing that in a small way i will be responsible for their vastly reduced profit along with my fellow ex Sterling smokers.

I have smoked sterling for quite a while but I want to know why they always go out its becoming a bit of a pain now

My wife has been smoking Sterling Super kings for a while now with no problem but for the last few months there seems to be cigarettes missing from every packet she buys, yesterday was the last straw as there were only 17 in what was meant to be a packet of 20, if I was to count the amount of missing cigarettes it would probably add up to 2-3 packets of 20, so we are paying you for cigarettes that we don't get, that to me is fraud/theft, call it what you want therefore I am not a happy man as I hate paying for things and then end up not getting them SO PLEASE SORT IT OUT NOW AND STOP STEALING MY WIFES CIGARETTES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
