Despicable

Look, I've used Stubhub before and never had a problem with them. I've had a pretty good experience with them, and they always delivered. Until they didn't. I ordered tickets for a local Broadway show for my wife's birthday. She was so excited. The event had been sold out, so the natural option was to try Stubhub. I found tickets. They were expensive but worth it. I should have known something was amiss when on the Stubhub site I was informed that the tickets were in the section I was hoping for but the actual tickets with their position would be provided on the day of the event. The day arrives and I don't hear anything from Stubhub. I contacted customer service and they informed me the seller had until a specific time to provide the tickets. That time came and went. I contacted customer service again and was given another time to wait until. That time came and went. I called again and was hung up on. I called a fourth time and was informed that the seller was having trouble loading the tickets to the Stubhub site. I was given the option to obtain a refund or try for comparable seats. It was my wife's birthday gift, so I naturally wanted comparable tickets. They tried finding tickets for us, but to no avail. I contacted customer service and shared my complaint with them, was placed on hold, and then was hung up on. I called a fifth time, asking for a supervisor or anyone who might be of higher level/position to assist, but was informed that the tickets weren't available and that I would be given a refund. I am happy I was given a full refund, and I did inform them of their cancellation policy of receiving 120% of the ticket value, and they provided me with a refund coupon. So from a customer service standpoint, Stubhub tried. But what was irritating about the entire experience was that this experience was even a possibility. Why does Stubhub accept tickets from "sellers" who don't provide the actual ticket position in a venue? How do they allow a "seller" to list tickets to an event that they don't have?? And what do these people profit from this? I received a full refund and more, so that wasn't a problem and therefore they didn't receive any money. It was the fact that someone listed "phantom" tickets with the likely full realization that the people who purchased these tickets were going to be absolutely devastated when the tickets didn't arrive and they couldn't attend the event they were so excited about. This happened to be the Broadway traveling Aladdin show and my 5 year old princess obsessed daughter was dressed up as Jasmine, so excited to see her on stage. We informed her that Jasmine wasn't feeling well and the show was cancelled. Overall, Stubhub failed because they allowed this kind of behavior to occur. If a seller cannot provide the ACTUAL ticket section, row, and number, they shouldn't be allowed to list it. End of story. Let this be a lesson to anyone else looking to Stubhub for tickets. Don't purchase them if there isn't an actual ticket number.

stubhub order

I purchased 2 VIP tickets for my 20 year old daughter and her 20 year old friend for Christmas through stubhub. We were not able to access the tickets until the day before the concert. Flew them both from California to Montana, paid for a 4 day hotel stay and when they got the tickets they said you must be 21 to sit in that area. I have purchased many VIP tickets in the past and that was never a requirement, nor did it say that in the description of the tickets on their website. Now if you go to the website and select VIP tickets and huge box pops up and says you must be 21 to sit in this area, it did not say that on December 9th, 2022 when i made the purchase, there would've been NO WAY you could miss it. Why would i ever purchase tickets with a requirement of being 21 when my daughter and her friend are only 20, and incur all of these additional expenses on top of Stubhubs HUGE mark ups? I wouldn't have there is that answer, Subhub use to be a good company to deal with but they are beyond horrible now. When I called spoke to "Steve" who struggles with the English language, and then to a supervisor who also struggles with English. Neither could help in any way, but they both "understood how I felt" really? who cares. I would be very careful if you purchase tickets through them, I will never do it again, too many other companies out there who actually do a good job.

order 509735632

i purchased expensive tickets (vip) for my daughter and her friend to a 3 day concert in montana. Flew them from calif. paid for a hotel for 4 days and now being told that you need to be 21. now when you go to the website a HUGE notice that you have to be 21 to sit in the VIP. No way it could've been missed but that notice was NOT THERE IN DECEMBER! When i called i was transferred to "Steve" who didn't have a grasp on speaking english, and then to a manager "Janis" with the same challenge with english. Neither of them helped in any way, but they both "understood" how I felt. (who cares?) Stubhub use to be a good company that I used all the time but last few times they have been horrible to deal with. I would be very careful getting tickets from them, I know I never will again, just purchased Taylor Swift but not through them!

VIP tickets with no VIP access

I paid a premium for VIP tickets to the Dierks Bentley concert at the Tampa Mid Florida Ampitheater. When I got the tickets it said that they were show tickets only and we would not have access to any of the VIP areas (club/lounge).
At this point they are just really expensive seats that I could have paid half as much for. I contacted them on 9/11/18 and they basically just lied to me. They said they contacted the amphitheater and were told that certain VIP seats do not include the lounge. I contacted the amphitheater and they told me that when brokers buy these tickets in quantity they get them for less by removing the VIP areas and then sell them through third party providers like Stubhub.
I have been to this venue and bought VIP tickets several times and always had access. When I said I wanted my money back they told me no. When I raised the issue of their "fan guarantee" they told me the seller had provided me with the tickets and I was therefore out of luck. Their customer service could barely speak English and when I asked for a manager the 2 times I called them, I was told first they were not there and then secondly they were too busy.
I asked for a return call from a manager and none came.
If they do this to you, chargeback your tickets with credit card company. I will never use them again!

SCAM on Selling Tickets Feature

I purchased tickets for the Eagles concert in November, 2017. I paid $375.00 for my tickets. I found out on June 18th, 2018 that my mom was having surgery and her surgery looked as though it was falling on the week of the concert. It was suggested to me that I place my tickets online to StubHub where I purchased them. I did, but I deactivated the posting when my mother called me back to tell me her surgery was the week after. I clicked "deactivate". I went in to my postings and it said "no posting". I assumed the post was deactivated. On June 26th 2018, I received a message via email congratulating me on selling my tickets?? I contacted the potential buyer via email and stated that I am going and tickets are not for sale- for I had deactivated the post. I went to check on my account and it said "action needed to be taken". I have never clicked "confirm" for this sale. The potential buyer is not in receipt of these tickets. These are my tickets! In contacting StubHub, which is a joke, outsourced to the Caribbean. I was told the tickets were in fact sold, and I would need to purchase replacement tickets, or pay 40% of the original sale of my tickets. This is a scam! The tickets are mine! I deactivated this posting the day it was created. My tickets are not "sold". I should not have to find "replacement" tickets, or pay 40% of anything.

Seller Fee

Stubhub is making money by having a glitch in their own software. As a software based company, since they don't own any tickets, it should be upto their website to detect errors when sellers are listing their tickets. Instead they charge 40% of the listing fee to the sellers for a simple mistake-which they should have caught to begin with. A company which just relies on a software to make money should be held responsible for their website errors and not the sellers.
I recently sold my tickets on Stubhub and entered the wrong date of the concert by mistake- as the artist had multiple dates. Stubhub website did not catch the mistake and charged me 40% of the ticket price($420)- although there were enough similar priced tickets available for them to replace my tickets for the same price.
This is unethical business practice and Stubhub should be liable for the damages and not the seller. They charge a hefty fee for the sale anyways and for them to collect 40% on top of that is absolutely absurd.
I will not be doing business with these crooks again.

complaint/disappointed

I purchased two tickets for the cubs game on ******* and the game was cancelled. The game was rescheduled for the next day at noon, but due to work obligations could not make it. I think it's absolutely asinine that you would not refund my tickets or atleast give me a credit or exchange. If I would have purchased them directly through the cubs I would have been given a ticket exchange. This will definnitely deter from using your company again. I will make sure I encourage everyone else not to as well.

their selling mistake!

I was surprised to see some tickets sell on stubhub and receive an email saying so when I had cancelled them the previous day. I made an initial inquiry with them immediately but was only met by the charges I will now have to face! I have a debit card about to expire which I have changed my stubhub account to. Will they still have access to my previous one, or through paypal? Any other ideas you lovely people on how to defeat them as Im sure you will all want to seek revenge in any way L-)

Thanks!

Misleading Ticket Claims Selling Tickets

I placed 4 tickets for sale on Stub Hub and inadvertently must have posted them the incorrect way as it regards uploading. Fair enough. But this is where Stub Hub lies to sellers about ticket postings. The web site told me I had uploaded my tickets and they were ready for sale. I sold all 4 tickets. I was never told they were invalid until Stub Hub told me my tickets couldn't be delivered until a few days before the event! Then they charged me for not only the tickets but for substitute tickets for the buyers! So basically Stub Hub never told me my tickets were invalid; the details about having to pay for the buyers tickets was in extremely fine print; and when they did tell me, I barely had time to resell them. I think Stub Hub should be responsible for letting sellers know the way the tickets have been delivered is invalid BEFORE selling them. In my mind Stub Hub is no more than a thief and a liar in the way they present themselves to sellers. Obviously it would be financially foolish to fight them individually but I would be happy to participate in a class action suit should anyone decide to pursue their malicious business practices.

Wrongly Accused of Fraud

I have season tickets to several sports teams and for years have been selling the games I haven't been attending on StubHub. A couple months ago I bought tickets for a broadway concert in New York (I am in CA.) A couple weeks later I had to cancel trip because of work and sold tickets on StubHub.

Tickets were purchased by me through TicketMaster and were 100% valid and I fulfilled sale just like every other sale I had done over the years. After show, buyer submitted invalid ticket claim. Two business days later (during a holiday week) while I was still trying to get scan report from venue I was charged roughly $5,000 on my credit card for cost of tickets and all sorts of penalties/fees.

Scan report came back where tickets were successfully scanned once, and then someone tried to scan a second time and came back as duplicate. Either buyer allowed tickets to be duplicated or they are scamming the system by entering the theater once and then they or someone else scanned tickets a second time so they could "cry foul" and get their money back. Either way, what the buyer does after they are given tickets is NOT my responsiblity. I provided valid tickets and fulfilled my part of the deal.

What's worse, is after I supplied StubHub with scan report which showed a valid entry with my tickets I thought I would be exonerated. Not only is there still a charge of $5,000+ on my credit card, they have not responded to me in over two weeks despite me contacting them four times, including with evidence that clears me. How can you charge someone $5,000 before they have a chance to defend themselves and then after they do just cease all communication? Not only is that abysmal customer service, it's not legal.

I did NOTHING WRONG in this transaction, provided all the evidence they asked for, yet I am still out $5,000 and I can't even get anyone from StubHub to respond to me. I will be using every option available to me, including legal, to get my funds returned to me. I have also taken down all my listings and will never use them again and highly recommend anyone who is trying to sell event tickets to stay far away from them.

Rip off

I posted tickets on stub and had them posted on another site. The show was the next day so I was anxious to sell. When I woke up in the morning both sites sold the ticket so I contacted stubhub immediately to let them know. That's when they told me about the 40% policy. The original tickets sole for $320.. so why am I being billed for $390???? That's not 40%%%% There were tons of other tickets available for the same show in the same price range. Luckily as soon as they told me about the cancellation fee I cancelled my credit card so I wish them luck in trying to get me to pay. They gonna have to find me.

DO NOT EVER USE STUB HUB!!!

RIP OFF

Stubhub Accusing Me of Fraud

Bought tickets on ticketmaster and sold them on stubhub. All was fine. Now they send me a letter saying i owe 500 dollars because the buyer claims he was barred entry due to " duplicate ticket ". Yeah right. And Stubhub is making ME prove that these weren't duplicated instead of making the buyer prove he isnt scamming.

What a complete joke. I have done this exact same type of transaction numerous times and of course it is virtually impossible to prove innocence.

So basically Stubhub has free reign to charge ALL sellers if any buyer claims a problem WITHOUT proof of any kind.

So yes I am seeking legal help on this one and will do my best to sue Stubhub. I am beyond livid.

I Will NEVER Sell tickets on StubHub again

I listed 2 concert tickets for sale on StubHub. When I attempted to upload the pdf of the tickets - the StubHub website would not allow it - saying the PDF file was too large. As I searched FAQ section on the StubHub website, it suggested to scan in the tickets, save as a PDF, & then upload. I did it and IT WORKED. The tix sold, I received my payment, ALL SEEMED WELL. However, 2 days later StubHub charged back the amount of the tix to my account plus an additional $175 due to “seller error”. I contacted a CS rep at StubHub and was told that scanned tickets often had issues when the bar code was scanned & that made the tickets invalid. I explained to the CS rep that I scanned the tix per the suggestion on the StubHub website. He claimed to be unaware of it and basically said tough luck!
I am beyond angry at this situation and will NEVER do business with this company again.

selling tickets on stub hub

I listed 4 tickets to sell on stub hub since NFL ticket exchange is not possible for the Mexico city Raider/Patriot game. I followed directions received a confirmation and thought all was fine. About two weeks later I did not hear anything so I tried to pull them up and had issues, finally was able to see them and it stated blocked.

I called stub hub ( after emailing for two days and no response) and was told they don't handle Mexico city and could not tell me what the problem was. They would need to pass me to another company. I finally received an email , not a call but said it was blocked becuase I needed to list them as e tickets... So now after 3 weeks I needed to repost the tickets.

This past Sunday, received an email that they were sold!! But than received an email said sale was rejected?? no reason.. Again emailed, no response, called Stub Hub.. they said they would pass to this other company becuase they dont know and the other company would call....still waiting.... so frustrating... I will try to call again tomorrow.

Wish I could have used my account at NFL.com as a season ticket holder.

RIP OFF!

Decided to sell tickets on StubHub, walked through their steps (first time seller)...the tickets were priced fair, sold immediately, then the seller cancelled next day saying you didn't disclose the view may be obstructed.

I didn't even know the tickets said anything about obstruction, so reposed it, and pointed out the view may be obstructed as noted in small print on the ticket. Tickets sold right away (anyone looking on the seating map can see its a good view). Needless to say StubHub took 50% of the ticket sale price from me on top of their regular service fee for selling.

Their selling instructions are very poor - doesn't explain where you should highlight something like this, and when speaking with the agent to repost, no mention of this fee. Heck I would have sold them for higher to make up for the 50% off ticket price they took. Really unfair and for a first time seller following their poor selling instructions, its really unjust. Never again selling any tickets with StubHub, total ripe off, they rape you anyway they can.

Completely Unfair to Sellers

I will NEVER be doing business with StubHub ever again and like everyone else on here, advise you to do the same. I sold a pair of tickets on StubHub and dropped them off in a UPS dropbox. Either they sat in that dropbox for a few days or someone at UPS slipped up, but the tracking did not register that the tickets were shipped out until after the very short period StubHub gives you to ship and I was charged $500. Because I dropped them in a drop box, I didn't have a receipt that showed when they were sent so StubHub of course sides with what the tracking number says and "can't help me". I was selling 4 tickets total and there were 2 seats right next to the ones I sold to them for the same price, but buyers were given replacement tickets that were TWICE AS MUCH as the ones they bought from me and I was expected to cover this difference. Good site for buyers, but the most unfair site I've ever come across for sellers. Hope something is done to rectify this situation.

STUB HUB

I erroneously listed Hamilton tickets for sale. I did not know they were posted. The moment that I received a notification that they were sold, I called stub hub help. I was disconnected several times and was on hold for hours. I ended up having to take a day off off work to deal with it. I am psychologist and I had to cancel clients and I had to miss a day of income to deal with it. The customer service is unacceptable slow. I finally go through to someone after speaking with several people over the course of several days. Eventually, a manager told me that I would not be penalized for this. I thanked whoever I spoke with. THREE months later I received an email saying I owe 2500 dollars and that it will be sent to collections. I sent an email back saying this must be in error. Next thing I know, I get an email from collections saying I owe 2500. I have been a loyal stub hub customer for years. When your system was down a few years ago and I could not get access to my tickets (my daughter's 10th birthday present- she missed most of the Giants game because I was on hold FOREVER) with customer service, I did not complain. I was understanding and recognized that errors are made. Stubhub is greedy and does not live up to it's companies core values. I will take this to social media, the news, and any consumer complaint board I can. This is absolutely the worst and most unethical company ever!

Stubhub ripoff during ticket sell

Wish I read this forum before I posted my tickets for sale. I mistakenly/ ignorantly thought I could use my tickets photo has a PDF copy except that it is not allowed. Once tickets sold I called up and plead guilty- offered them for tickets drop off or ups overnight it. They not only cancelled the order but charged me $208 for a $240 listing that I made - claiming it's the difference in charges. While I was able to find similar seats for less tha $50 difference. Off course stubhub is not paying out of their pocket. It's someone else money - why do we care to check with them. We are bound to rip people off when someone makes a mistake. Horrible stubhub. No ethics, no mercy, rude, cunning just 3rd rate customer service. Anyone wants to go legal on them - I am in. I am sure Everyman makes a mistake, I am sure there is a gap in cinditions that smart lawyers can tap into. Horrible stub hub business model.

credit card entry

I listed a pair of tickets in STUBHUB for a U2 concert in Miami when I was doing this and because my tickets are credit card entry I sent an email to them to ask if was able to do it, now there's an option that says PDF instructions will be email later... I choose that option I had no problem till there, fast forward 2 months later and I sold the tickets 2 hours later I got a cancellation from STUBHUB when I contacted them they told me that I wasn't an approved seller, when I asked why is it that I have the option for this they told me the option is there doesn't mean I can use it!? That I had to ask them (which I did! before post it) and they charge me 40% of the price I paid, if one is not an approved seller why does one have the option to post it like that?

CHOOSE TICKETMASTER OR OTHER THIRD PARTY SELLER

From my research and what I've been reading, it looks like StubHub puts all of the liability on the seller and protects the buyers. I understand that your "Fan Protect Guarantee" has both buyers and sellers liability listed, but the way your customer service handles situations is simply on behalf of the buyers. Your firm refuses to take responsibility for YOUR SYSTEM ERROR and then pushes it to me, as the seller.

1.) you take a certain percentage off the ticket price (this I understand since this is how your company earns profit from this business)
2.) you claim a 40% charge when it's obviously your company's system error for listing it as the wrong date
3.) you BLAME the seller for your obvious mistake

***IF YOU ARE A SELLER TRYING TO GET TICKETS OFF YOUR HANDS, PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION.

This company is proven to be extremely unethical and I normally do not do reviews UNLESS it's really required (hence this review this time around).
