worst vacation in Cuba with Sunwing

I don't believe our complaints are unreasonable. When we arrived at our Resort (Memories Paraiso Azul Beach Resort, Santa Clara) after checking into our room, realized the toilet didn't work and there was no hot water. Nice. They did move us the next day and gave us an ocean view. So all is good - wrong.... All the latches on the drawers were broken and also the cabinet to the fridge. So how are we supposed to put our clothes away and get into the fridge? We always enjoy Cuban food (this was our 5th trip) but the food here was the same thing every day for two weeks and never hot. Really? The tablecloths were filthy and it was almost impossible to find a clean glass. We went for days without decaf coffee. Some of the toilets in the main areas had no soap, no paper towels and no toilet paper and were not very clean. Is this a joke? And the highlight of the whole vacation was the batch of yahoos next door who woke us up every night between 12:30 - 3:30 a.m. I even spoke to the general manager - "Oh yes, we'll fix the problem". Sure you will On our last evening I found myself staring at a lovely cockroach in the bathroom. Thank God we're leaving tomorrow!!!! Service there and back was certainly not the best and does Sunwing call their food "food" or something else. We called it garbage. Absolutely awful. My husband wanted to pay for another "sandwich" and the flight attendant basically ignored his request. This resort is a total joke. Never again will we take a Sunwing Vacation if this is what they offer. Sorry.........

refund for seats that was already paid for.

Talked to sunwing rep to make sure we have seat side by side to go back home from cuba to Sudbury and were told that there was none left and to make sure we get seats to pay $23.00 each. When we got to the airport in cuba we got seats together no problem. Have receipt #014306, rep name Jester Del Junco, dated Feb 28, 2015 for the sum of $46.00 CAD. Flight number WG239.
File No 75353183 from Hotel Melia Cayo Coco.
I better hear from Sunwing soon because right now I am a very upset customer. Tried to talk with someone from Sunwing when I got back home and all I get is to send email and from the review it takes a long time before Sunwing resolve any problem.

conditions at resort

As my husband was celebrating his 75th birthday on Sept.12,2014, I decided to take him on a trip to Cuba. We booked into Memories Varadero from Sept. 10-17, 2014.
The night we arrived, I was unpacking and didn't notice that the bedskirt was badly torn, My foot was caught in it and I took a hard fall on the tile floor. I was bruised and sore down my left side and I still had a bruise on my left cheekbone when I flew home. I did lodge a complaint with the Sunwing rep at the Resort. and was compensated with a 3 hour later checkout. Whoopee!! The bedskirt was removed but not replaced.
The same day we noticed that our toilet was badly cracked and there was always water on the floor. We always had wet feet when using it and that is not fun in the middle of the night when you crawl into bed with wet feet-not to mention the safety concern. I did mention this to the rep when I told her about my fall so I guess my compensation was included in that 3 hour delayed checkout. Of course, nothing was done about the cracked toilet so a week of wet feet! Perhaps I should mention here that we needed to flush 3-4 times every usage as the water pressure was so poor.
My husband has 2 artificial knees and 2 fused ankles so he needs support getting in and out of the shower. The first day, when he held on to the handicapped support bar it came off the wall in his hand. It was still sitting on the floor in pieces 6 days later when we left. On the last day, to balance himself, he held on to the towel rack. It let go and was hanging by one screw when we left. I heard a yell but thankfully he didn't fall.
Now we come to the wifi. Why do you advertise that it is available for a fee when that is not really true? I purchased. my first one hour card for 4.5cu//$5.25 Canadian. on the first full day. I used 1/2 hour and when I tried it later it said that my hour was used up. Then I asked the wifi girl about it, she just shrugged and that was that. That was on Thursday. No cards were available Friday, Saturday or Sunday. at the Resort--so sorry!! On Monday I purchased 2 cards--used one for actually 34 minutes. It showed 26 minutes left. When I tired to connect later I couldn't and neither could the wifi girl so I lost that time too. I did get refunded for my extra card I had purchased. There were many disgruntled guests in that area.
There were some excellent things--the beach, the waiters and waitresses, the jitney drivers and the Japanese Restaurant.
This was our first trip to Cuba and we would be more careful in planning another.
Sincerely,
Sharon Bulmer
