Cancellation

I went in person to cancel my membership feb 2015 as per there cancellation policy, this was also the last time I went as a member which should be proof enough that I cancelled and I also signed a cancellation form in which they have misplaced. I have since been charged every two weeks for $23.60 and for the last two years I've been fighting to get this cancelled, They continue taking this money out and are refusing to refund me anything I have paid advising there is nothing I can do.

Miss leading information!

I signed up for a one year contract in February. I travel a lot for work and would like to cancel my contract. When I signed the contract agreement was read to me and I was under the impression that I had the option to cancel at any time with one month notice or depending on when my contract started and when I submitted my cancelation it would be one month to get sorted.

This suited my needs very well and I was also told if I needed to put my contract on hold for three months at no extra charge that was no problem as I voiced my concerns for being able to steadily come durning certain months.

Last week I went in to do just that as its been about a month that I haven't been able to go do to work/travel. I initially just wanted to cancel my contract as I may be moving to the lower main land soon and thought I would tie up loose ends before hand.

I was informed I could not cancel as I signed a year contract. I was told that we must have had a miscommunication when I signed as with a year contract you can't cancel.

So I'm standing there trying to process this and feeling very slighted and manipulated. This is not something I would agre to and I also felt like I was benign hustled and fast talked. I then asked about just freezing my account for the three months and this was less of a problem (initially) but when I started asking more detailed questions as I was agin being fat talked I realized that they were going to continue to charge me and then add three 'free' months to the end of my contract instead of freezing my account for the next three months.

When I heard this I was again shocked and very frustrated as this is a.) just weird and b.) again made me feel hustled

I could tell that the girls helping me felt uncomfortable and from the looks on their faces they probably have to deal with frustrated customers getting angry about this weird hustle their company requires them to do.

I really find it awkward and inappropriate to get angry at the poor people who are trying to make a living so I said I would think about my options and come back later and I am writing this review because I can't find a number for the head office or complaints department and am hoping someone from the company gets back to me.

In today's world with everyone online and able to leave reviews and comments it seems like it would be in a company's best interest no matter how large or how small to clean up their act start treating there customers and actually their employees better and clear up the awkward uncomfortable interactions with people.

People love working out we need gyms and we need people that are supportive and encouraging and in some ways VI fitness really achieves this and in other areas they fall short.

But these out dated methods of contracts and hustling are just killing what could be a totally fine company.
There are so many compliments on line about VI fitness when are you guys going to grow up and start making so positive changes!

Communication

My daughter is having a very negative expireince with this company. The not so funny thing about this is that she was warned not to sign up with them from my older daughter, who worked at the company for very short time and was appalled at the things she was told she should do to make sales.
But, my youngest daughter signed up anyway. When she didn't want to renew her membership she went in and talked to a lady to verify when her last payment would be, she also called to double check this and was told there would be no more payments to be made. Well, another payment did come out and because she didn't have the funds she also got charged 30 from the bank. When she went in to talk to someone about this they didn't believe that she had done these things, the lady said all of her girls new they can't cancel without permission. This is just crap!!!
Of course her sister says "I told you so " one of the things she was told in training is you lie to make a sale and just say oh you must have misunderstood us or what ever excuse.
This is a very dishonest company!!! Lesson learned, always get things in writing!!!!

Misinformation

I signed up in January for 1 year, at the time of signing the contract I double checked with them that I would be able to put a hold on my account for the summer as I spend the summer in Victoria and wanted to attend the same gym as my boyfriend which also has more services (squash, swimming pool, etc.). The women selling me the contract assured me this would be no problem and that I would continue to be billed throughout the summer and then have that time applied to the end of my contract. Now that the time has come for me to put the hold on my account, they are saying two things. 1) I need to have proof that I am in a different city (ie. pay stub, mail to new address, etc). 2) even if I am in a different city, they will not put a hold on my membership as they offer gym locations in that city.

I have spoken to two different locations about this, and asked for my information to be passed on to the regional manager. Both locations have stated the same 2 things, which I understand. The point that I am upset about is that I specifically told them my situation before signing the contract. I feel like they will say anything, regardless of if its true on not, in order to get that contract signed. They are guaranteed 1 year of money out of me, but if they had good customer service I would probably continue my membership past 1 year, not anymore.

Not honoring the 2 month groupon

I purchased a groupon for a 2 month pass. When I went in they offered me waver of the sign up fees if I became a member. I signed up for a pay as you go plan. They told me I would get my 1st prepaid month up front & the 2nd one at a later date. They said that was how it was done. A few months later when I went in to request my 2nd prepaid month they said it was not available as it was used to pay my sign up fees. My agreement shows no sign up fees & makes no mention of my forfeiting a month. I have requested documentation that I agreed to forfeit a month or that it was even mentioned, but none has been provided. You are not honoring your obligations to the groupon that you issued.

Billing nightmare

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH VI FITNESS. I signed a 1 yr contract with the oak bay location which ended in August 2013. I then moved to Toronto and wasn't aware once your contract ends, it rolls over...the point is, I sent them multiple emails in September 2013 requesting a cancellation since I am past my sign contract term and am out of Victoria anyway, what a nightmare. They continued billing me and never responded to my emails to this day. I even emailed head office and Michaela Exelby, the regional manager, and she never emailed me back or return my calls( left her msgs at the Shelbourne location since that's where you can supposedly reach her). After more emails and phone calls, I managed to talk to Lisa, the oak bay manager, with more waiting period etc...she cancelled my account and said she'll contact head office so they can reimburse me money they took after my first cancellation email. I've been waiting for my damn cheque since November and nothing in the mail. I called Lisa again asking for an update and she told me she'll contact head office again... WTF...3 months and counting just to close my account and get my money back after they sent my account into overdraft....what kind of service is that? I'll never recommend them to anybody ever. it's so disappointing. I've contacted Head office via email, Michaela the regional manager and the Shelboune location via phone, and not one of them got back to me and it's been over a month. I am not impressed at all. So much for supporting your community. Warning DON'T SIGN UP with them..

Carol Walker

okay, here goes- Months ago 2 of my Dr's sent letters telling that I could participate in having a personal trainer. One my family Dr and the other my psych (sp) ... There is no way I can participate (reason I signed for it was because I am Bi Polar) and was on a huge high,

Then last month my gynaecologist sent a note saying I needed to freeze my account and I am still being billed. The condition I have will never go away, only ebb and flow so to speak - look it up, it is called Lichen Scleroses.

I am so upset by your attitudes and refund policies, I want to cancel the whole darn thing - it is too stressful and only makes my condition worse.
Thank you in advance, Carol Walker 250-591-5505

Billing

I froze my account with your company in May 2012 I was unaware that after 6 months my account would be reactivated and I would have access to your facilities again. When I approached one of the VI fitness employees in your Courtenay BC location about my situation and why I need to stop my account as I would be gone from Courtenay and living in a place that your company is not offered for around 10 months. They had suggested that I not cancel and just do a freeze on my account. So I agreed thought it was great and I would just unfreeze my account when I returned. A suggestion is to make your customer more aware of your terms and polices. If I would have been made aware of the reinstatement of my account I would have attend your facility. Unfortunately this was not the cases and I have now wasted over $ 162 for nothing. I do not wish to cancel my membership to your facility. However I do feel that the situation was poorly taken care of and a bit unfair. If there was some sort of compensation offered possible a free membership for the time I have paid for that I was unaware I could use.
