AAFES Star Card Terms and Conditions

I highly recommend not acquiring a Star Card thru AAFES because in the event of fraud or unauthorized purchases it will be very difficult to resolve. The reason I say this is because I have learned from Collections and the Investigation department; AAFES disregards your rights that are outlined in how to report a unauthorized charge. "Your Billing Rights: Keep This Document For Future Use. This notice tells you about your rights and our responsibilities under the Fair Credit Billing Act.
What To Do If You Find A Mistake On Your Statement."

Example: If you report a charge that you did not make in writing to AAFES it will take almost a month to receive a letter stating an investigation has been open. Then you will wait a long time for one of the seven investigation employees to look at your complaint and AAFES will tell you quickly they service customers all over the world and pretty much take a number and wait. AAFES will also tell you they have 90 days to resolve investigation, but when you call their hand that it has been over 100 days and nothing has moved then they will tell you to just be patient. At that point AAFES will send negative information to the Credit Bureaus to include your Commander even though the amount of the purchase under investigation does not have to be paid. When you attempt to contact AAFES to explain the amount under investigation has been reported to the credit bureaus and a letter to your Commander they do not care. >> Here is where AAFES is in the wrong << Your Bill of Rights under Terms and Conditions states the following:

While we investigate whether or not there has been an error:
• We cannot try to collect the amount in question, or report you as delinquent on that amount.
• The charge in question may remain on your statement, and we may continue to charge you interest on that amount.
• While you do not have to pay the amount in question, you are responsible for the remainder of your balance.
• We can apply any unpaid amount against your credit limit.

Not to mention, if you call no matter how many times you call you will get the run around and will feel about the size of a flea because customer service for AAFES does not exist. And when you reach your limit of putting up with the games they play your next option is AAFES IG Complaint in which is a nightmare to try to complete.

This whole time your credit now has negative information which will affect your Security Clearance and now your Commander has question of your integrity because AAFES does not follow the Terms and Conditions and/or does not know what is in the Terms and Conditions especially outlined under Consumer Bill of Rights. So then you are at the mercy of AAFES. Not to mention AAFES will not send a letter or call your Commander stating AAFES made a mistake. And do not mention to any AAFES member that you will proceed with consulting an Attorney or AAFES IG because they do not care.

In conclusion, I highly recommend not acquiring a Star Card thru AAFES because in the event of fraud or unauthorized purchases it will be very difficult to resolve.

Service

I would give zero stars if I could. I ordered a sofa and sofa table manufactured by Ashley on September 11. The items said in stock. A week later, I contacted AAFES via chat to confirm the shipping time-frame. I was told the items would be shipped on October 1st. Meanwhile, I gave my sofa away based on what I was communicated. On Oct 3, I received an email from Mallory Blount with it being cc'd to Ronn Washington stating the items were on back-order until October 26th, and I could cancel by Oct 13th if I didn't want the items any longer. I replied to let her know that this is not good service to have a customer waiting so long before notifying him or her of a delay. I also expressed how dissatisfied I was with how military customers received such subpar service. I was contacted via phone and told that if I kept the items, I would receive a 10% discount for being inconvenienced. Fast forward to Oct 29th. I still have not received the items, although my account said the items were shipped on October 17th, AND my card was charged with NO DISCOUNT. I once again contacted Mallory and cc'd Ronn that I had not received anything and had not been contacted by anyone for delivery if the items were, indeed, shipped on the 17th. I got no response from either, and on today, the 31st, I receive and email stating I have been issued a refund, and they are sorry the items did not meet my expectation. How can I return an item if I never received it??!!! What kind of service is this??????? This is so unprofessional. I am very disappointed to see that the service military exchange customers receive is total garbage. This is unacceptable. Ive been waiting for a sofa and table for over a month for it to be canceled with no regards to how this makes me feel as a customer. No call or anything....I will never order anything from AAFES again!!!

sick/leave

What is the exchange policy on sick leaves? Does the employees needs to turn in all paperworks from the doctor{hospital} Or just the doctor's slip? The store manager on Fort Lee is asking her employee to submit disability forms/ sick leave form/ and papers from her doctor. This is too much personal information for her to be insisting from her employee. Have she ever been trained in Privatecy Act etc.....

Selfridge AAFES gas prices

During the 2014/15 holidays (Nov.-Dec.-Jan.) I noticed that the AAFES gas station prices were consistantly $.15 to $.20 over local prices. I talked with the store manager Kenny. He defended his prices. I know the survey process. When you survey all high priced gas stations in the area, you come up with a high price.
The prices continue to be higher than local area.

Also employee/manager problems exhist in the store. I will not go into detail on this format.

What is your motto? We support our troops as long as we make the most money from them.

AAFES

Bought a $200 Christmas gift card for my nephew in England. Made sure it was early enough to get it to him. He received and took it to the BX and was told it did not have any money on it. Took 3 calls and an hour and a half to finally get my Chase Visa credited, but the catch is that I have to have him mail the gift card back to me then back to AAFES. The explanation that I that they were having problems with cards and it was sometimes taking 30 days to activate the money on the card. Also, if I don't mail the gift card back within 30 days they will charge my Visa again. So, I have paid to mail a bogus gift card to England, my nephew will have to pay to mail it back to me, I will have to pay to mail it back to AAFES. 21 years in the service and have never had an issue with AAFES until the last month! Not sure what happened, but no more business from me. Oh, I still have to get something to my nephew for Christmas.
