AARP Dental Injsurance
In Oct. 2014 we received a notice that we needed to change from Plan C to Plan A if we wanted to continue our Dental insurance in 2015. We filled out a form and mailed $236 for payment for two months, Jan. & Feb. 2015. At that time we were enrolled in Plan C and Delta was withdrawing automatic payments from our Bank account. In Nov. we received our coverage summary for Plan A and membership cards establishing our account with them. In Dec. we received a check from Delta for the $236 (rounded) with no explanation, just the check. We assumed that they were going to continue withdrawing automatically since we had submitted bank routing information with our application for Plan A. In Jan there was no withdrawal. on Jan. 21, I phoned them to find out what was going on and found out we were not covered. They never gave us notice that they dropped us or a reason why. Sometime in Oct Delta made a mistake on our account. I asked what it would take to get our coverage back. He would call me back. When he called back he said I needed to pay $82 (rounded) for Dec 2014 and $236 for Jan & Feb 2014 and in Feb 17 send a check for $118(rounded) to cover March and in March they would resume withdrawing $118 every month. We complied and paid those amounts. On March 25 Delta withdrew $236. I phoned them and the rep said we owed them for March & April. I told her we paid $118 in Feb for March. She said that they cashed the check but they had not withdrawn money for Nov. 2014 so we still owed them for two months. I told her that that was their mistake and now we were paying for their mistakes and that the rep I talked to in Jan. did not say anything about a Nov payment and I told her they should abide by what they said in Jan. Had we known about the Nov payment we probably would not have renewed. Now we are being asked to pay 2015 rates for a for a 2014 coverage that they mistakenly failed to withdraw. It became apparent to me that they dropped us without notice back in Oct. A very bad mismanagement of our account and no apologies just give us more money to cover our mistake attitude I canceled my policy, I hope AARP considers other dental insurance companies in the future. I also carry Home owners & auto insurance with AARP and I am considering changing them real soon.
