Scam and maid who pretended to be possessed

Paid RM 21,700 altogether to hire a foreign Indonesian maid from this agency.
Agent recommended this maid and I hired her to take care of my less than 1 year old baby as well as some house chores.

The maid (MARDINI BT SOLEH) gave problems after problems even in the second week. She was slow in her work, had comprehension problems and didn’t understand instructions well, always forgetful, did not pick up fast enough and always needed me to give direction as well as repeat many things and instructions to her. She force fed my baby for the first 1 month, until he found feeding unenjoyable and the doctor confirmed that someone in my household was possibly force feeding him. She also could not remember the time that the baby was fed and could not explain it to me. She was unable to read the clock and I had to teach her how to read the clock like a primary school student as well as insist that she record down all the sleeping and feeding times in a book.

On top of all of that, she was constantly emotional and would argue back frequently despite being poor in her work quality. She would ask to be sent back to the agency every 1 and a half weeks. I sent her back twice for counselling and insisted that I get new biodatas and a new maid. The agent pushed her back to me twice saying that she was just acting out and now have regretted her actions and requested I give her a chance. I did give her several chances as the agent was also not providing suitable / satisfactory quality biodatas.

She was with me for 4 months. In that 4 months, she had countless problems especially with her health.
In the 2nd month, she had a urinary tract infection and the bill was RM 330. 3rd month, she had a bad toothache which required extraction , bill was RM800. In the same month, she wanted to send RM 500 back for hari raya. All these expenses from her happened even before she earned any salary with me as she had loans to repay to the agent. In the same month, she spoiled 2 of my clothes while ironing and bleaching them.

She agreed that she would pay for her own medical expenses with her salary as they were costly and she had not been working with me for long.

Next, in the 4th month of employment tenure, she lied to me about having a medical emergency back home. Her family called me more than 10 times a day claiming that her kid was sick in the hospital and needed 6 million rupiah to discharge. Her kid was only have a common chicken pox and a fever but she claimed that they admitted him. I asked for proof and when they sent me some random pics of him on a bed as well as a hospital billing that was tampered with, I had a feeling that her family was trying to get more money than the actual amount. The printed billing had pen scribbles on the number making it look like 5million or 6 million rupiah. I sympathised and was too kind , I remitted a loan of 5 million rupiah (RM 1,480) to her family the next morning to help her.

Not only that , she gets to speak to her family monthly or twice a month as they always seem to call my phone looking for her.

While other employers I know are strict on loans and phone calls, I tried to be kind with her personal matters but strict and firm on her work ethics. I obviously thought kindness would be repaid with kindness as well.

POSSESSED MAID:
Little did I know, that this maid acted dumb in her work but was cunning enough to put my family in a threatening situation. The last horrific incident was when she was in the kitchen and suddenly screamed out of no where and laid herself on the ground, crying, screaming and claiming that she is not MARDINI AND IS HER DECEASED MUM’s SPIRIT. SHE LAUGHED HYSTERICALLY ON THE GROUND CRYING AND SCREAMING AND SCOLDING HERSELF AND CALLING OUT HER OWN NAME AND REPEATEDLY CLAIMED SHE WAS POSSESSED.
This went on for 40 mins until the police came. The incident happened at 12 am and I couldn’t reach the agent , I was terrified, and my husband and I had tried talking to her to stop her pretentious act and we would send her back to the agency if she was just upfront about it. The policemen witnessed her PRETEND ACT OF BEING POSSESSED AND SHE WAS STILL SCREAMING RANDOM THINGS THERE IN FRONT OF THEM. WHEN THEY FINALLY THREATENED TO HANDCUFF AND BRING HER AWAY, SHE PRETENDED TO SUDDENLY BE AWARE AND BE BACK TO HER NORMAL SELF AGAIN.

I HAD A 10 MONTH OLD SON IN THE HOUSE WHO WAS SLEEPING & WOKE UP DUE TO THAT, my husband and I were in shock and definitely couldn’t let her stay in the house that night as it puts all our safety at risk. WE WERE ESCORTED BY THE POLICE TO THE HOSPITAL , WHERE SHE PRETENDED TO BE ALRIGHT AGAIN AND CLAIMED SHE STILL WANTED TO WORK.
The agent admitted to be over the phone that the maid told them she was PRETENDING and DELIBERATELY DID THAT.

I sat in the hospital from 1 am to 6 am waiting for a psych evaluation whereby the doctors at university Malaya hospital were not forthcoming if she ever did tell them that this was all an act ( I suspected she did).
WHILE SHE WAS HAPPILY SLEEPING ON THE WARD BED , MY HUSBAND AND I WERE SITTING THERE THROUGH THE NIGHT WHILE MY PARENTS HAD TO COME OVER TO HELP ME WITH MY BABY.

WHEN THE AGENT TOOK HER BACK , I MET UP WITH THE AGENCY AND INSTEAD OF BEING APOLOGETIC AND REPLACING ME A MAID FREE OF CHARGE OR AT A MINIMUM AMOUNT, they charged me another RM6,000 ++ although they knew that it was their poor quality of maid as well as knowing that it was their maid’s deliberate act to be sent back. NO APOLOGY NOTHING FROM THE AGENT ABOUT THE TERRIBLE INCIDENT AND THEIR EXCUSE IS THAT I HAD PASSED THE WARRANTY PERIOD. OK , BUT WHETHER IT IS HER DELIBERATE ACT TO BE POSSESSED OR WHETHER SHE REALLY IS MENTALLY UNFIT TO WORK HERE, THEY SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST GIVEN ME A REPLACEMENT WITH MINIMAL CHARGES.

WHEN I BROUGHT UP THAT THE MAID STILL OWES ME MONEY OF RM707 for the money I borrowed her and her medical expenses (net off her salary earned), the agency confirmed with the maid that this was true and she had agreed to pay. INSTEAD OF AGREEING TO REIMBURSE ME THE SUM, they PROTECTED THEIR OWN INTERESTS AND THE MAID’s INSTEAD OF OURS AS AN EMPLOYER AND CUSTOMER by requesting that I half the medical bills with her. WHY THOUGH ? IT DOESNT EVEN COME OUT FROM THE AGENCY’s POCKET AND THE MAID SHOULD TAKE SOME ACCOUNTABILITY FOR HER OWN AFFAIRS. THE AGENCY GAVE ME A MAID THAT WAS FREQUENTLY SICK, DOWN, HAD EMOTIONAL ISSUES AND WAS A PRETENTIOUS LIAR.

THEY COULD HAVE RETURNED ME THE MONEY ALBEIT A SMALL AMOUNT , AND TREAT IT AS A LOAN FROM THEM TO THE MAID, AS THEY WERE STILL GOING TO PLACE HER TO ANOTHER NEW EMPLOYER AND STILL EARN FROM IT AGAIN !!

So why DID I STILL HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER RM6,000+ without even getting back my reimbursement for the amount the maid owed me WHEN SHE WAS THE ONE WHO HAD COUNTLESS PROBS AND DELIBERATELY PRETENDED TO BE POSSESSED BY HER DEAD MOTHER IN MY HOUSE AND PUT MY FAMILY AT POSSIBLE RISK.

THIS AGENT SCAMMED ME AND SO DID THE MAID AND I ENDED UP PAYING MORE FOR A REPLACEMENT DESPITE MY HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE!! And in the end, THE MAID GETS AWAY WITH HER CUNNING ACTIONS , SCOTT FREE WITHOUT HAVING TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANYTHING OR TO PAY FOR ANY OF HER MEDICAL BILLS INCLUDING THE HOSPITAL ADMISSION DUE TO HER SO CALLED MENTAL BREAKDOWN THAT WAS IN FACT FAKE!

THE BOSS OF THE AGENCY was NOT AT ALL understanding about the incident and claimed that we needed to pay half of the medical bills because they are afraid embassy would give problems. COME ON , I KNOW MANY EMPLOYERS WHO HAVE DONE THE SAME AND SINCE MARDINI THEIR MAID HAD AGREED IN FRONT OF THEM THAT SHE WOULD PAY FOR THESE EXPENSES FROM HER SALARY , THEY SHOULD HAVE TRIED TO PROTECT MY INTERESTS AS A CUSTOMER AND CONSUMER BY TYPING UP A FORMAL WRITING AND GETTING HER THUMB PRINT AND SIGNATURE TO AVOID ANY TROUBLE FROM HER WHEN SHE GOES BACK TO INDONESIA NEXT TIME.

The agency is a total scam , and doesn’t give a damn about customer satisfaction or service. The boss even said I was being calculative , when he was the one who was trying to scam me. I was just trying to get to the principle of things whereby I refuse to pay for a maid who took advantage of me by constantly getting me to pay for her countless medical bills, borrowing money from me as well as PRETENDING TO BE POSSESSED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

Please do not ever use this agency as they may have conspired with their maids to ensure your first placement goes bad in order to earn more money or they just have VERY VERY POOR QUALITY OF MAIDS WHO ARE NOT ONLY BAD IN THEIR WORK BUT CREATE LIES AND DRAMATIC SCENES AS WELL.

OVERALL , my FIRST MAID EXPERIENCE is now a NIGHTMARE MEMORY AND A TRAUMATIC INCIDENT FOR ME THANKS TO THIS AGENCY
