ahmsi

I had a varible rate to begin with and 2 mortgages. The interest rate kept going up every 6 months until it was at 14.9%. This company did a modification, which took months due to so called lost or not recieved paperwork. At the end of this process they sent me a modification which showed an interest rate of 8.9% fixed. My payment on my first mortgage went up to $1400 a month, which before had been the total of both mortgage payments. I went ahead and signed just to keep my home. In the meantime they had offered a payoff on the second mortgage and I paid that mortgage off. But even with paying off the second mortgage my payment was as high as it had been with both mortgages and at the higher rate. Also when I tried to refinance my home to get out of AHMSI I found out they had shown my second mortgage as a forclosure on my credit report, so needless to say, no one would help with the refinancing. Then in Sept. of 2010 my husband and I both lost our jobs without warning. I called AHMSI and told them our situation and they said I should qualify for the making home affordable program and started the paperwork,, Once again I sent them everything they asked for and was told to call back in 2 days to make sure they had everything. When I called they said they had everything and they would let me know when they learned anything, well after a couple months, I called to check and they said they were missing paperwork and asked me to fax it, which I did. This happened for months, back and forth. Finally after about 8 months they said I was not approved but they would do a modification to lower my interest and payment. Finally after several months of lost and missing paperwork games they sent me modification papers, these showed the interest rate being 7% but my balance owed went from $172000 to $203000 and my payment was now at $1600 a month. I have tried to speak to them but only get people on the phone that I cannot understand. I am having a hard time with now owing $203000 on a home I paid $215000 six years ago and paid off $40000 of this when I paid off the second morgage. This company needs to be stopped. I know that any day they will be showing up to take my home, but if I couldnt afford $1400 a month what makes them think I could afford $1600.
