Flight

After not having a vacation in 3 years I chose to visit my sisters in Arizona. I have two jobs so when booking a flight I'm extremely diligent on checking the times and dates of flights. My ticket was booked out of Des Moines on Monday Jan. 20. Because of weather the flight was changed twice and then eventually cancelled. It was rebooked to land in Mesa,AZ on Tues at 5:10 pm. I was unable to get refunded on the hotel I had booked for Monday night ( not a problem, I understand things happen and I let it go). My sister took Monday and Tuesday off of work to hang out with me. At this point we did nothing but grab dinner by the time I got in. The flight to Mesa we were allowed to purchase snacks or beverages. I asked for a coke and then realized the flight attendant charged me for my coke and the elderly lady sitting next to me, whom I didn't know, nor did she ask me if I knew her (again I blew it off). When we landed it took approx. 30 mins to get our bags, unusual since we seemed to be the only flight in the airport. Bc of this long delay I got to the rental car store 15 mins late ( I had to rent off site bc their were no more vehicles available). I was unable to get a rental car that night bc enterprise had closed. I had to reboo reservation, get a 30 dollar uber and go the next day, which again wasted my entire morning. At this point I only had Thursday to do stuff in AZ. My departure flight for Des Moines was scheduled to leave Friday morning. I got to the airport at 6 am and proceeded to stand in a line that didn't move for 20 mins. There were 3 allegiant women checking in passengers for flights after Des Moines. The lady that was checking in Des Moines was having a lot of problems getting passengers checked in. Around 6:20 a 4th allegiant women comes to the counter and asks if there is anyone else going to Des Moines. There were three people in front of me and myself. Each women took a Des Moines passenger and I ended up at the counter with the younger lady who was having problems with previous guests. After a few minutes she couldn't find me. She asked the lady next to her to help her. We stood there for a few minutes, the girl walked over to the lady that seemed to be in charge and asked her to help me check in, we waited again. Finally the girl haleping asked a third time and someone came over. It was discovered that my flight home was booked for April. How this happened I have ABSOLUTELY no idea. Regardless, I asked her if I could just buy a ticket on the flight leaving and I would sort it out later. Keep in mind the man next to me was still checking into the Des Moines flight. The lady on charge told me I was unable to buy a ticket and to call the 1-800 number she gave to me. That's all she told me and then asked the person behind me to step up to check in. I had to leave that morning. I work weekends ( and I am at a new job). I also had an appt with a retinal specialist in Minneapolis Monday at 9 am where I had to drive my dad bc he recently went blind. Allegiant never allowed me to buy another ticket, gave me any advice on when the next flight was, or helped at all. I was unable to sign into the airport internet bc of its bad connection. There were no taxis, Uber's, or Lyft available at 630 am. Just to get a internet connection for a phone number I had to stand outside in the rain two blocks from the airport. I stood out there for 45 mins trying to contact someone. Soaking wet I finally got a cab at 8 am, who took me to Sky harbor for 65$ and then I had to buy a 578$ plane ticket on American bc it was the only airline that landed before 5 pm so I could make it to my job on time for the night shift. It's one thing I didn't have a vacation, I can deal with things going wrong, but allegiant not only cost me time and energy, but I spent a tremendous amount of money for something that could have been resolved if they would have let me purchase a ticket while they were checking other passengers in. I spent over one thousand dollars bc my flight was cancelled, Uber's, taxis, and plane tickets on a 5 day trip that turned into a Wednesday and Thursday trip. I'd really appreciate it allegiant would refund me at least the cost of the flight back home. It seems to be the least they could do bc now like many others they've left an incredibly horrible impression on me.
