Fraudulent business practices

The short story is that my son went off to college and took out student loans to pay tuition and other expenses. I co-signed the loan. While at school he became a drug addict, he got into and emptied our savings accounts, took gas credit card and traded tanks of gas in exchange for drugs, stole electronics and money from his siblings and much more and of course ultimately defaulted on his loan. Before I was even aware that he had defaulted on the loan Chase file a poor credit report on us. I called to try and work things out and they said it was no problem they would put the loan in forbodance until I could get payment together, he told me that if I made 24 on time payments I would then be able to get a co-signer release from the loan. Within two weeks I got a letter saying that I was delinquent in payment of the loan, I explained that their representative put the loan in forbadance and we should have some time left I was working on refinancing my home in and effort to make regular payments to them. This representative then told me that I could not file for forbodance only the borrow could do that, and of course another bad credit report all while I'm trying to arrange financing to pay them off.
This all took place around 2009 and it is now 2017 I have been making payments all of this time 144 more payments than the original agreed upon 24.
I again asked for a cosigner release from this loan stating that I had made 1144 more payments that our original agreement. The representative looked up the account and agreed that it did say 24-on-time payments and that a co-signer release was in order.
About a week later I received a form from them asking for address and personal information, work place, earnings etc. of my son the borrower. I called and explained that I don't have any idea where he is living, working or anything else he has been forbidden to come to my home and I have had not contact with him since I threw him out years ago. The representative I was speaking to said that was no problem fill the form out as completely as possible and include a letter explaining the situation.
I did this only to have them respond that the form was incomplete. I again spoke with a representative who told me to resubmit with a letter once again.
Now they say without me providing to information about the borrower they will not grant a co-signer release.
Now the next trick comes, I'm guessing that Chase has come to the realization that they have bled us dry so they sell the loan to Navient who wants to start the process over again,
These practices most certainly must be criminal. If I was to loan money like Chase did on the street corner and that send muscle to collect the debt like they are doing with American Educational Services I would be arrested.

Any Advice or help with resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Rude Customer service and threatening!

AES should be investigated for unethical business practices. My student loan was transferred to AES and they notified me that I would have to file a new automatic payment form if i wished the funds be taken from my checking account. i did this and the payments were being made. After the second month they said i never filed the automatic form and I had to make payments directly. I told them they were taking the money from by checking account. I was than told to resubmit it again. I did this and and funds still came directly out of my checking account. Now 4 months later i receive a payment notice in the mail to send funds directly to them. I called AES and tried to get this straighten out. The customer service person I spoke with was the rudest person I have ever spoken with. She didn't have a clue to what I was trying to explain to her and could have cared less. She just kept telling me I have to send the payment in and set up an automatic payment plan. I kept telling her i have sent the form to AES on two separate occasions. When I finally asked to speak to a supervisor things only got worst. This person was nasty and completely unprofessional. I finally gave up and hung up. I'm convinced that AES wants you to miss a payment so they can ding you with late payments and destroy your credit history.

fraud/incompetence

Do not do business with this shady company. The first payment my husband sent AES was over $1800 to cover the interest that would be rolled into the principal if we didn't pay it. Well, we made the check out to them, mailed it to them in their envelope, and the check was cashed, but they never posted it to the account. So for five months we have been out the $1800 and the interest got rolled into the principal, making the payments larger. The company has been completely incompetent in dealing with it. Repeated phone calls and faxes have led absolutely nowhere, and even though our bank is trying to assist, AES is stonewalling. All we get is a semi-literate customer service rep on the phone saying "we didn't get your check, " so it's not our problem. Our bank did a pipeline search for the money, which AES was supposed to complete. Again, just a phone call from someone who knows nothing saying "we didn't get it." No paper trail? No letter? No phone call from someone who makes more than $8/hr.?
They are forcing our bank to spend more resources to trace the cashed check, and I would bet the whole lot that it turns out to be within their organization, albeit in the wrong account. Although it also wouldn't surprise me if one of their employees stole it.

fraud/incompetence

WOW! I am going through the exact same thing right now. I made an over payment on my AES account accidently through my TD Bank bill payment online system. I paid my mortgage payment to AES accidently (they both start with "A") and I have went through hell getting a refund from AES. I faxed a letter to AES from my bank requesting the refund. 2 weeks later AES agrees to refund me after I had called them a dozen times. AES states they refuned my bank account electronically on 3/8/12 in the amount of 1200 dollars and some change... The money has still not showed up in my account. AES refueses do do a trace on the transaction. TD bank is researching the transaction and can not find any record of this refund. Someone at AES is stealling money - the 1200 dollar is no where.. AES claims it was refunded to Citi Bank Home Access. I dont have any accounts with Citi Bank Home Access nor does my bank where I house my checking account. This is fraud!!! I filed a BBB complaint.. but this needs a major investigation!
