CLOSED MY ACCOUNT FOR NO REASON

I was an American Express customer for 22 years. Originally it was for my company, Over the years I never had an issue.
In October 2018 my business was severely affected by the wildfires that swept across Los Angeles county, in that my primary client lost his home and was unable to continue our work together. This crippled my business.

For the next several months I tried desperately to save the company that has my name since 1997. In 2019 I was seemingly out of the woods, when, due to the stress, I suffered a massive heart attack.

When I awoke one morning, I found that my personal Am Ex card had been sent to collections and my online account had been shut down. Now, keep in mind, I have never missed a payment on the personal card. Never even been late, or had any issue with it. It was just swept up in the handling of the corporate card and sent to a debt collector. When I called the customer service department, I was told there was nothing they could do to help me. Even though I had made all my payments and had never been late, there was nothing anyone could do. The card was at the collection agency, end of story.
Now the story gets interesting. I managed to get the e mail address of the CEO of Am Ex. He actually responded and passed me on to someone he said would help me.

A week later the guy called me back and said I was out of luck and that there was nothing they could do.
At the end of the day, I was no longer going to be their customer and thus, they didn't really care what happened to me. This company is ruthless and have no soul. From the CEO right on down, they have no loyalty and no consideration for the actual human beings behind the cards.

no membership points redeemed on my husbands platinum card and my green card.

I cancelled my husbands platinum card, because he passed away last year. My gold card was linked to his card and was cancelled too, unfortunately. I live abroad, and when I called your office I was told that the membership reward points, (178,703) cannot be redeemed to me. I sent a letter with all the documents required by DHL to American Express, Datamark, Butterfield Circle 43, El Paso, TX 79906, because DHL could not deliver to your P.O.Box in Fort Lauderdale, as there is no street number. I asked you to issue the 178,703 points in various gift cards to the following US address: Mrs.Brigitte Ballmer, c/o Mrs. Patricia Cerisola-Mansi, 22 Country Drive, Harding TWP, Morristown, NJ., 07960.
I called your office and even sent you various registered letters with all the documents required
I have not heard from you for over 6 months. My husband was a member since 1963 and I am very surprised about the poor service you are providing your customers. Nobody seems to care. I was thinking of getting a platinum card myself, but under these circumstances I seriously have to think about this.
I would really appreciate your reply to this letter telling me what more I could do!

Sincerely,
Brigitte Ballmer

reward points for platinum card

I applied for amex platinum card with a promise of 100000 reward points after i spend 3000 in three month. I took out a card for myself and my husband i also took out a gold card when i called and asked if i can have 2 gold cards i was told no problem. I spent the 3000 plus 1000 for me and my husband a very difficult task for us but we did it to get the points. now i am getting a run around that the application mentioned you cant get the points if you got them last year. that is an out right way to cheat your customers. You should not accept an application with a promise of reward if you dont plan to follow through on the promise. We are senior citizens and have a hard time spending all that money on credit card in a short time we did it for the reward. Now after the fact you tell us no reward. I call numerous time and was told it takes a few weeks and now i am told there is no way they can help me. I am very disappointed with amex. I found your services to be superior up to now. BuI in this case very deceptive, unethical and i even think criminal. If i dont get a satifactory reply i will proceed with this matter to the better business bureau.
THANK YOU

Closed account for no reason

As most folks American Express decided to one day just shut off our Platinum Card which was used for day to day business expenses and to accumulate points for Airline tickets and other things. We were on a flex pay plan that allowed us to carry a balance and pay less than the full balance, Mind you this is stil around $2500 a month to one card, They shut it down for no reason other than they screwed us out of 100k plus "points" And demanded we pay the balance immediatley, We refused for one becuase we could not afford to pay the balance in full. We still get calls from Natonwide Credit and they want checking information and payments of $1000 set up via automatic payments Iwas advised not to do this, Pay AMEX directly or ask for a settlement? Anyone out there go thrugh this>?

Closed account for no reason

I had the EXACT same thing happen...I had a Platinum Card and Green AMEX for two completely seperate corporations. My Fico scores were all above 726, no outstanding balance due to AMEX, ect. They literally just cancelled both cards and then i got the run around as to why. First I was told it was because i had 8 credit inquiries in past 30 days. So, I joined credit service and found outthis was not true! I faxed the credit report printouts to AMEX and was told I would receive a letter. Basically, i was told that i was ineligible for reinstatement!!! I was told that i could write and request exactly how i would like my AMEX Membership Rewards Points used. It seems so unfair that a credit card company can do this without any cause!!!
