Phone service terminated

In August on the fourth, 2011, I started a plan with At&t. and I paid 144. 73. They gave two "free phones" . I had an extra line for 9.99. Spoke with a guy whom eagerly and anxiously serviced me. I explained to the guy that I was on a budget and that my cost needed to remain nothing over 59.99 and he said that is what my cost will be. When I recieved my first bill I contacted a service representative and asked why my bill was 144.73, she went on to explain how it worked and the delay in the billing. So, ok I paid the amount hoping I would get on to a more smooth and an agreeable mode of payment. To my surprise the next bill comes and it is 71.57. This amount was well over my budget so at about Oct. 29, 2011 I contacted AT&T to adjust my contract so it would be a cheaper amount. I spoke with a person by the name of Lewis and explained to him what I wanted to do and he advised me that no adjustments could be made until I pay the past due amount. I paid the amount due in two increments on the same day and in doing he turned my service back on. I discussed with him how I needed to change the amount I am paying for a service I only use for emergencies, to 39.99 a month. He said that it could be done immediately and I believe at some point he transfered me to a lady in customer service to get the account changed and I was advised there will be a early termination fee of 126.00 which totaled to be 149.00...? I asked the lady if I do this would they allow me the opportunity to pay the early termination fee on a pay plan and she said yes, no problem and that I didnt have to worry because it would not take place until Dec. So, with that being said I decided to go forward. She assured me I did not have to worry that the bill would adjust because she was taking care of it. On December 4, 2011 I made a payment of 72.00. Checked on my services and they refused to reconnect my services because my bill was past due 315.00. When I questioned how this was they could not explain to me 40.00 of it. The 315.00 amount was a combination of 42.00 for the new services, 149.00 for the early termination fee, and take it I did not cancel my services just dropped and extra line, 40.00 unaccounted for, the 72.00 I paid on the 4th.

Today, presently, I have discovered that At&t canceled my service and tacked on another 149.00 for an early termination fee as of 12/20/2011, and note I did not terminate the services. I was attempting to get the fees affordable in order to keep the services. Previously, as of earlier Dec. I asked whether if I paid the bill down would they restore my services and they said that they would do another credit check and consider it from there and that I had 60 days from that time to do so. I made many attempts to keep my services and keep my agreement as much as possible and I am very upset that they have discontinued my services in which will reflect negatively on my credit and create problems in future opportunities to attain wireless phone services etc.

My complaint is that At&t has not been totally forth-right with me. They racked up charges to my account in an amount that would be difficult for me to pay it. They denied I spoke with a representative about a pay plan for the 149.00 termination fee and eliminated my services within a 4 month period of actual services. At&t earned approximately 400.00 out of my pocket and proposed another 392.00 owed, and added a scar to my credit. The phone services I had with them was rarely used so they were out of nothing and the phones I recieved I was more than willing to send them back because they are a piece of junk.

I would like to straigten this out as did when I talked to a representative but they were not inclined to assist me.
