Misconduct
After buying a Wellness Plan, having my pet's teeth cleaned, having to rush him to an animal hospital the next day due to vomiting, dehydration and blood in his stool, I feel guilty. My pet could have died due to the treatment he received at Banfield Pet Hospital located in Tucker, Georgia. I had to take my pet back to Banfield the morning after his cleaning due to him being so lethargic he could not stand up. He was at Banfield from 11:00 am until I received a call at 4:30 pm saying that he was in a critical situation and needed to go to an animal hospital. They wanted authorization to do $375 worth of further tests, and I said "no" that I was on my way to get him and any tests would be done at the hospital I chose to take him to. Despite my pet not having anything to eat/drink for 2 days, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, Banfield gave my pet NO treatment, no medication, did absolutely nothing but call me and tell me he had to go somewhere else. They wanted me to take him to St. Francis Animal Hospital, which I believe they have an affiliation of some sort with. I did NOT take him there. The hospital I wound up taking him to, where he spent three days, felt that he received an overdose of anesthesia. I feel guilty because I should have researched Banfield before choosing them for my pet's healthcare. After reading reviews/complaints, there is a pattern. Why isn't something being done about this company as a whole?? If it was a medical clinic treating people, they would be shut down. Why is it that complaints, class action lawsuits, etc continue against this company and they are still able to keep their doors open? I think we all need to continue to review, blog, complain, tell friends/family, about our experiences so that people are aware to stay away from Banfield. I consider myself fortunate that my dog is, after three weeks of treatment/medications, OK. I am sorry for all of you out there who unfortunately lost their pet at the hands of Banfield. Please let's continue this awareness even if it saves one pet, it's worth it.
