Fraud and scam

Bay Area Credit Service LLC sent me a bill for $1,267.93. I called the number and told him that I haven't used married name since 2004 and asked what this was about? They wanted to know my SSN and Birth date to look up my account. The man was getting upset because I would not give my information. I then sent letter asking for verification of debt. This was a bill for American Medical Response ambulance service sent to collections BACS,LLC. This is not me. I have never taken ambulance, have never been to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, Ca. I did look on internet for name on bill, and found someone using name plus 4 alias who resides in Lancaster, Ca.. I think BACS, LLC just sends out collection letters to everyone with that name. They have put this on my credit reports.

Inappropriate behavior

My daughter passed out at a concert and was taken to the hospital via an ambulance (I believe AMERICAN Medical Response) . 60 days later she received a call from this collection agency demanding she pay the bill of $800. They were extremely threatening saying they would screw up her credit if she didn't pay. Problem is, no bill was ever sent by the ambulance company to her and Bay Area claimed insurance refused the claim. I looked online and the clam was never submitted. I asked nicely how the claim could be denied if it wasn't submitted? The lady essentialy ignored me and asked me when we were going to pay. I asked for her supervisor. He was equally rude and basically didn't care what I said and asked when I was going to pay. We then got Blue Shield on the call and the lady at Blue was horrified by these people. She repeatedly asked the same question...why are you calling him when it has never been submitted? After the third time, the guy starts listening, gets the info and says he will process. The lady at Blue was so upset, she had me stay on the line and she called AMERICAN Medical Response. She chewed them out on the phone. Asked them why they turned it over to a collection agency on the 60th day when no bill was mailed and no insurance claim filed?

I just got a rude call at 8PM tonight by Bay Area to let me know Blue Shield paid them today and we owed $500 and when were we going to pay? I said, "look...this is the way this works. A company provides a service. The company bills the insurance company. The insurance company pays. The provider then sends a bill in the mail. We pay. THEY DONT CALL THE SAME DAY IT WAS PROCESSED ASKING YOU WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO PAY. Especially when we haven't seen any of the billing or anything from Blue Shield as to what they paid. And I don't trust these guys for a second.

Contrary to the statement above, we are not flakes. I have a credit score over 800. I realize there may be a time when a collection agency is neccessary, but the process AMERICAN Medical followed along with Bay Area is outlandish and needs to stop.

Fraud and scam

Its very interesting to see how much hate and jealousy people have in their minds now days. @Angrydaughter1 :You clearly haven't worked in collections or don't have any idea how tough this job is. I love my job and I don't care what people think or say about it. Only jobless people can complain about such things and I really fail to understand how they carry this kind of attitude knowing that they haven't paid their debts in time. @ConzGiz2541896 : First of all I would like to correct your first sentence which is not grammatically correct because its not ' do respect ' its ' due respect '. That itself explains how good your language is Mr.American. Its no use being racist or abusive because that shows nothing but your own frustration and frankly speaking it doesn't even matter because there is nothing we lose.In fact we debt collectors really enjoy people like these who at first place don't pay their debts and when their credit gets affected call us and beg for settlements. People just have misconceptions about debt collectors and debt collection agencies. I can bet on it almost 90% of the people who have posted their comment on this site still have a bad credit. On the other hand there are people who are honest and genuine. They don't have money to buy food but they make sure that they pay their debts even if its little by little. I have total respect for such kind of people who are genuine and give a fair reason as to why they can't pay their debts. An individual deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. An individual who is racist can never understand that statement. I don't mean any kind of disrespect but if people like these are not answered this issue will never be over. Waiting to see some comments which show dignity, respect and last but not the least ' common sense '.
