My wife and I purchased a home in 2008 and BB&T happened to purchase my mortgage from the broker. Immediately upon moving in the market dropped again leave ing us upside down in the mortgage by approximately $40k. I became quite ill in 2010 and had to leave my job and start collecting a disability pension. As a result we filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2011. We were in contact with BB&T loss prevention throughout the process. Once the bankruptcy was discharged we requested a mortgage modification and that's when the real trouble began. We would submit the modification package by mail and they lost it. We faxed the paperwork and they claimed to not have received it even though the fax transmission sheet showed the fax went through. We refaxed at a cost of $60 and they claimed to have received a partial package. I called and asked if their was a particular person to address the fax to and I was abruptly told no. The modification was immediately denied. The house is now in foreclosure and we are living in a one bedroom apartment.
