I booked a room at a hotel, where I stayed last year. I clicked on Reserve Room, thinking I would be booking directly with the hotel as I did last year. I realized later that the reservation link took me to this unscrupulous theft ring that calls themselves CCI/Get a Room. A number of room options were available and I selected the lowest price rooms, 3 for 3 nights. I didn't see the tiny font in light gray that said "Non-Refundable." As soon as I sent my credit card information, I received a message with large, dark font saying "Non-Refundable." I immediately called this number, asking to cancel the reservations, have my credit card not charged and start over with rooms that were refundable. I also called the credit card company. My credit card was charged within hours for rooms reserved 5 months in advance. When I contacted CCI/Get a Room by email, they replied that the rooms were non-refundable and the charges would stay on my credit card. They asked if I would like to cancel the reservation. I responded, "Not if my credit card is charged. If I have to pay for these rooms, my friends and I will expect to stay there all 3 nights." I followed up with the hotel and found that these criminals (CCI/Get a Room, whatever they call themselves) cancelled my reservation without my permission or knowledge, but charged my credit card $1128. They have crossed the line from fraud to outright theft and they will be held accountable. My credit card company is investigating, and I am also looking at filing criminal charges.
