Bait and switch

I spent a long time talking to Century Link in late June. Our internet service was no longer working and so we were told we’d have to move to fiber optics, and therefore get some form of cable TV. I spoke to a salesperson (by the name of Tete) who took up an extraordinary amount of my time. After 2 LONG conversations - 45 minutes the first time, an hour and 3 min. the second time. (She threw in a promised $40 credit b/c the time spent was so ridiculous!)

We were promised:

-Fiber internet service
-Phone service including free long distance in the U.S. and Canada
-And cable TV (called “Prism Essential” - which would include HGTV and Lifetime, for sure. I asked her 4 times about the channels included, naming these specifically.)

for the price of $110/month including all taxes, a modem and a TV box.

Thursday, July 13, 2017 they came to install it all, and after the guy left, we thought we’d use our new cable TV, only to find that every channel we put in, was not included. We had the list of promised networks in front of us and NONE was included!! We called Century Link, only to be told that our contract didn’t include anything but basic TV channels (which we already had when we had no cable), internet and phone service. AND our monthly rate is $124!!!

Essentially, the salesperson promised us whatever she pleased and did not deliver. The only thing sent from Century Link said we were to get High speed internet, unspecified Prism TV, Long Distance phone service - no details, no numbers. It would be easy to sign people up for a service if you could make up anything at all, and not have to deliver!!

On Friday, July 14, 2017 I called Century Link again to remedy the problem. I spoke to a salesperson in Phoenix for 56 minutes after which he transferred me to another salesperson in Iowa, claiming he had solved the problem and this next person would remedy the situation. After I was transferred, I discovered I was on hold again with a new office and had to begin the whole process over again! This person was also not able to help remedy the situation. Both claimed they didn't have access to our account information and could not tell what the order included or what the cost to us would be. During the final conversation, lasting an additional 25 minutes, the salesperson said all she could do would be to put in an order for us to get Prism Essential cable TV, which would take another week to be installed, and she was unable to tell us what the cost would then be. She said there's nothing we could really do until our first bill came. This is unacceptable. Our original order has not been honored or fulfilled.

Raised bill and then cancelled me

Hello, I'm glad there is a forum for complaints against this company but I'm really looking to make this company accountable and fair, which they have not been.
They raised my bill then goated me in to a two year contact without my knowing then offer to put back at month to month which I was before only to charge me the 300 surcharge for switching back, shame on you Century Link. I've been a long time customer and I have experienced the worst bait and switch of my life.
I will be filing a complaint with the FTC and the BBB in the coming days, I feel cheated and mislead.
