Walmart will not cash our company checks. They are continuously being refused. I went in today with a $5 check, my ID and the computer would not cash it. The checks are printed by a legitimate payroll company. We end up taking the employee to our bank(the one it is drawn on) having them sign it and then having the owner(of business) signing it. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I think it is Certegys problem...?

After receiving my fed tax refund check I went to the Walmart money center to cash the check due to the convince of being right there in the area where I was and that Walmart advirtises cashing fed tax refund checks over 1600 and under 2000? For only 6 dollars. I gave the cashier my ID and my check signing the back in front of her she took my I'd and ran check through a machine next to registered and. Said "it wasn't reading the check?" I had no clue to. What she meant I watched her once again run to the check through machine and again it did the same thing g just coming out other side. She said our machine isn't reading the check, you will have to take. To a check cashing facility. I then proceeded to go to a check cashing facility where she gave check back to me telling g me that the check had been validated and that can only happen once ,after a place has validated check once no other. Facility can cash the check. I then returned to Walmart with this info, however Walmart told me since their machine wasn't reading my check the validation didn't take. Place in yet no other place could cash saying f check was already validated.

I purchased 2 money gram money orders from Walmart . I bought them for myself to cash as I was in California on business and was returning to vermont.
I did not want to carry cash on a plane.

Upon arriving in vermont...trying to cash the money order at a Walmart, I was declined.

How can Walmart decline a money order they sold me?
The slip they gave me was the one I'm reading about now....saying I was declined for various reasons and gave no specific reason.
The number is completely automated and provides no info and simply won't give you your money.

It was their own money order.
Now they won't cash it.

I have contacted the attorney general and filed a complaint...but that's unlikely to get me my money.
Also filed a complaint with ftc....and the security exchange.

I've written 3 letters to the editor of all the papers in town and still won't get my money.

This was a pretty paid money order ...not a check.
And my credit is fine.

They have stolen my money.
I don't see any recourse here other than to fill a shopping cart full of stuff and dump fish guts on it....
I'll have to do this everyday for weeks to make Walmart eat the money they stole from me...
and didn't even give me a reason.

Just sold me money orders that they said I could cash at another Walmart.

I'll only be going in to Walmart now to fill up shopping carts full of cold cuts and meats ....and open all the packages and spread them around so they loose the money on them.

Bank was closed so I went to cash a state of Texas government check at Walmart . Was denied with reason 2. I have no check writing history because I never write checks. I use a debit card only or direct deposit. I am really mad because my history for a state check should not matter, since the one paying out the money is the state of texas. I am really mad because after standing in a long line of customers to cash my check, I was declined for some bogus reasons. Not real good customer service if you treat them like criminals. Just trying to use a service you say you provide, but instead you get rejected and denied and humliated. Makes me not want to shop at walmart ever again. Was gonna spend that money I cashed in your store, sorry my money was not good enough for you, nor was the state of Texas check good enough for you.

After three plus years suddenly certegy changed walmarts goverment check limit for walmart. Literally. Manager told the certegy employee on the phone that the limit was 5000 not 1000 and certegy said nope. This is a u s treasury check. there is no risk. They declined two more social security checks within hours. Walmart said they were going to fix it and asked for copiesto facilitate this. But they have not gotten back... So certegy said jump and walmart said how high,sir! time for criminal investigations at walmart and certegy.

My husband and I were thrilled to save $60 by cashing our federal refund check at Wal-Mart. Don't get your hopes up yet. What and why would you need to run a credit check for?

I received a payroll check from my company drawn on an ADP account. Went to the Walmart Store in Chubbock, ID. I am on temporary assignment in Idaho. My permanent residence is in North Texas. The company I work for is headquartered in Sacramento, CA. I continue carrying a Texas drivers license since Idaho is a temporary (second) residence and citizens of the United States cannot legally have drivers licenses from two different states. Another form of identification, but did not use it, was my California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation contractor's identification card. Only way to get a CDCR contractor's card is to pass a tough DOJ background investigation. I have cashed many similar ADP backed checks from the same account at other Walmart Stores, including the West Sacramento Super Center, and Super Center stores in Sherman and Denison, Texas. Before I could cash ADP backed checks at the West Sacramento Store, I had to complete an account, including my social security number. So, I am in the system with Walmart?

I went through the check cashing procedure at the Chubbock Walmart last evening. Used my Texas drivers license, entered my SS when requested, endorsed the check, and the nice lady ran it through some type of machine. She immediately and in a rather loud voice told me my check was declined. I exclaimed in a mild voice, "the check is backed by ADP, how can it not be good?" Where upon, she printed a receipt looking piece of paper and said I would have to contact Certegy. I walked to my vehicle and called Certegy immediately. Was on hold for approximately 17 minutes, finally a nice lady answered my call. After I explained to her the facts and circumstances, she began a litany of issues about why "Walmart" refused to cash my check, non making any reasonable sense to me. When I told her that the lady at Walmart where I had taken my check told me Certegy had declined the check, the lady with Certegy stated they do not decline checks, but act as a third party service to Walmart. Again, she went into a litany of items that made no sense, stating that Certegy cannot override a Walmart decision to not cash my check. Several times she mentioned vaguely that other Walmart Stores have different policies. I was not sure if she was suggesting I go to another Walmart to cash my check or what. The nearest Walmart is located in Blackfoot, ID, approx. 20 miles away.

I called the Walmart Store in Chubbock immediately after terminating the call with Certegy. Spoke first with a lady professing to be the Asst. Manager, then was placed on hold. A young man got on line. I explained what had happened and told him that I was not happy with the way I, a very long time Sam's Club and Walmart customer was treated, especially since I had been told two different reasons why my check was not honored - Walmart stating it was Certegy, Certegy stating it was Walmart. My wife spends thousands of dollars each month purchasing supplies for her catering business in Texas from Sam's and Walmart. He didn't care.

I made it abundantly clear that I can shop other locations than Walmart in Chubbock and will. Plus, I advised him that I will find every opportunity to speak about my experience, especially where I can use a blog or editorial means to do so.

Went to Wal-Mart to cash a Moneygram check today and to my surprise, the check didn't go through and I was baffled by it. I had shown my ID and entered my SSN as it was requested during the procedure. The clerk asked me if this was my first time cashing a check with them which I replied yes because I have never done this before. Then the clerk gave me a receipt to call a number because of the rejection. I looked at the paper and it was reason #2.

Baffled by why it was rejected, I called the number to Certegy Services that was on the little paper that was given to me. I was received by an automated response which didn't help much. It asked me to give my Driver License's # which I did and say it cannot go through with the procedure since it was "incorrect". The Cetergy Service wasn't much help and left me why I cannot cash my check.

I tried cashing my retirement check which is from the State of California Public Retirement System. I was declined due to reason No 2. I called Certegy Check Services and I did not understand their reason and asked for an explanation again and still did not understand. They said they could not override the decision and said it was not a negative on me, just a risk from information off the check. The CalPers system, if anyone is familiar with it, has billions of dollars in the account. I have never had a problem cashing a check at Walmart before and the only reason I went this time was because the banks were closed and it was convenient. Someone needs to check out this business "Certegy Check Services".

Wow. This just happened to me. I purchased a MoneyGram money order at Walmart for $390.00. This is the first time I ever purchased a MoneyGram money order. The place that I was going to use this money order did not accept money orders as a form of payment. So I went back to Walmart the next day to get it cashed back to me. I was also declined to cash the MoneyGram money order. I called the 1-800# for Certegy and they listed all these general bullshit reasons and never gave me a specific reason why my MoneyGram could not be cashed. I called MoneyGram and they said Walmart/Certegy put a flag on my money order so that it could not be cashed, and still no reason why! Now the flag has been removed but MoneyGram told me not to cash it at Walmart again and to try a bank or check cashing place. I'm going to try Kroger first then a bank. I certainly don't want to go to a check cashing place because they take 10% or more from the money order. I'll see what happens. If it does not work, I will also try to seek action against either Walmart, Certegy, or MoneyGram because this is fraud!!!

I had loan some money to my brother and to return the money to me he paid cash of $800. to WalMart for a Money Gram issued to me which he was told could be turned in for cash at any WalMart Store.....wrong. I took the WalMart Money Gram to a local WalMart store where they refused to pay the money $800 which my brother gave them and was charged a fee of $12.95 to get this money to me....when the clerk at WalMart entered my information into WalMart's system she kept getting a error message saying Certegy Recovery Services would not allow WalMart to give me the money which was legally mine....the clerk tried twice to run the WalMart Money Gram through and both times she got paper receipt with an error message saying could not cast due to Reason 2...the paper also had a phone number on it, 866-278-5478, which I called from my cell phone as I stood at the WalMart Counter....of course it was an automatic system which I entered all the requested information only to hear, "Failure to cash your check is not due to credit issues but rather to WalMart's check cashing policy with Certegy....so the WalMart clerk tried to run the WalMart Money Gram through again since there was not credit problems.....WalMart again refused (initiated by Certegy) to pay the money of $800. cash which they were paid along with the service fee to provide this Money Gram Service. I pointed out to the clerk the number for WalMart Corp. Office to call and confirm the Money Gram purchased at Walmart was legal...but she said they still could not give me by rightly owed money....this is theft by illegal mis-representation of a product service. I am hoping that I can find or any attorneys visiting this site might take on these two companies with a class action suit.

My husband went to Hammond Walmart to cash his payroll check, Walmart refused to cash it stating Certergy Check Services would not approve the check being cashed. Certergy gave a Reason # 2, a small print out off Walmart register, stating

"We cannot cash this check. Our decision was based on information provided by Certegy Check Services, Inc. The Fair Credit Reporting Act gives you the right to know what is in your check transactions file at Certegy. You have the right to a free copy of yor file from Certegy if you request it within 60 days. If you find the information in the file is inaccurate, you have the write to dispute it with Certergy. Upon calling Certegy from the Walmart Money Center (where you cash payroll checks, etc.) (we called via our cell phones) We had to go through an automated system and then got a human. The guy said he would check Certegy's system to see why the check had been declined. Upon doing that we held for a few moments, he returned to the phone to "inform" us that Certergy will only cash ONE PAYROLL check EVERY 7 days, for my husband and it must be cashed the SAME DAY at the same time !! My husband was furious with Walmart and Certegy Check Services.

In Heaven's name I want to know WHO does this company, Certegy, think they ARE?? WHO and WHAT government body gives the the right to say when my husband can cash his OWN payroll check?? I have read complaint after complaint on this company. Our United States Government needs to step in and do something about this company and MAKE them pay damages for the hurt they are doing to people/ the public.

I asked the guy on the phone from Certegy, "What if my husband gets paid a day early which his company sometimes does...? " He replied, "Well he cannot cash his check at ANY Walmart ANYWHERE until the seventh day, at the same time, because Certegy ONLY allows him one payroll check per week... This is our company policy."

I have read complaint after complaint here, on this site and others, about Certegy Check Services, Walmart, etc. WE NEED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CERTEGY CHECK SERVICES. Also, a nationwide news network should report on this stupidity with this company, Walmart Stores, and whatever other stores and vendors us this Certegy CRAP. There are thousands of good American people each week getting embarassed and harassed (and yes, it is harassment, as they have declined my husbands, check 3 times in 6 weeks) by this scam of a check service company.

I am not surprised that the nitwit known as 'CertegyMan4' has severe misspellings and grammar of a 4 year old. It is more apparent than ever that Certegy is run be criminals who randomly deny perfectly legitimate checks to make it look as if their system is doing something. They claim that only 2-5% percent of checks get denied out of millions that are reviewed. The fact of the matter is, Certegy needs to look like it is doing something by denying checks; Now that less people are using checks and hence Certegy is basically worthless, they go out of their way to meet that 2 to 5 % quota. So, folks who have a beef with Certegy, You heard it here first: you are filling in a QUOTA in order legitimize Certegy's antiquated system: Less people are using checks. The fraudsters are finding different ways to steal from businesses. Certegy is not needed anymore. Now, your transaction will be on their reports to give to customers in order to prove that their services are needed. Pathetic. I guess Certegy just does not care and are willing to lie to you. The FTC needs to stop them!
