SCAM-WILL NOT PAY CLAIM

Choice Home Warranty is denying a repair claim on a covered ac unit based on their technician's determination that the system shorted to ground. When the technician spoke with us he stated to us and included in his notes that this failure is due to normal wear and tear. Natasha Wilson proceded to copy and paste a standard response as her basis for denying the claim. When asked for an escalation she stated that she has final authority and that the claim would be denied.
Left in 115-degree weather in Phoenix after doing as any homeowner does and calling their home warranty we were left helpless. It is at this point, that I contacted my attorney and explained the situation and did as advised. We received a second opinion and the issue is the compressor. I asked around and found out that this Home Warranty Company has a history of not paying for repairs and citing clauses buried within their contract as support

A/C Unit

Been with Choice Home Warranty for 7 years. 21 year old A/C unit was having problems. 17 days later (summertime in AZ!!) they tell me that the compressor needs to be replaced but they will not cover it due to "lack of maintenance". How do they think it lasted 21 years if I did not maintain it? Make sure you are contacting your Attorney General and file a complaint against this ripoff company.

Air Conditioner

If there is a class action lawsuit filed against this company please include me. I live in Canada, bought a house in Marley Park in Surprise AZ in 2011. This house was built in 2005. The house has been rented out since we bought it so we purchased Choice Home Warranty bought a 3 year term thinking if we have any problems they would be looked after, when they arose, because we were 2000 miles away. The renters we had moved out at the end of March 2017 so we went down to clean and do what was necessary to have the house pristeen for the next renters, as this was a show home. April 22 while we were there one of the air conditioning units was acting up so we phoned CHW and made a claim and they sent out a technician we paid him the $45.00 service fee and he said it was the fan motor in the outside condensing unit. They ordered the unit and a week later replaced it. He said we should not have any more trouble. We left the next day and came back to Canada. The real estate person who was looking after the new renters phoned a few days later and said the a/c was not working. So again I phoned CHW and they sent out another technician and said it needed freon so he topped up both units, said they were running great and we would have to pay for the freon because CHW does not cover it. The real estate person went over the next day and there was still no a/c upstairs. So again I phoned CHW and they sent out a tech from a different company. He said it looked like there was a leak in the coil but CHW would not cover it unless a leak test was done, they do not pay for it, so I put out another $180.00 they took pictures of where the leak was and sent it to CHW. CHW then phoned and told me they do not cover coils and the proper mntce had not been done. I had a lot to say so they eventually told me they would give me $500.00 toward the repair. So I asked the new company how much to replace the coil they said it would be $1160.00 and they could do it an a couple of days. After a month and my constant phone calls they said the coil was no longer available and would have to be made at the factory, and they were waiting for it. In the meantime the current renters moved out as it was too hot without the a/c. We now have new renters a family of 4 moved in July 15 with the promise the a/c was in the process of being repaired. I told them I would cut the rent in half till it was repaired. By July 28 they still did not have a/c and were moving out unless it was remedied by July 31. I then had to buy a new a/c and have it installed which now cost me $6300.00 Canadian so we wouldn't lose them. So this claim went on for 3 months and never was resolved. CHW ad says that all home appliances wear out so have peace of mind because if it cannot be repaired we will replace it, unfortunately in this case I was the one who replaced it, not CHW as promised by their warranty. They kept asking for mntce records which I see by the just closed lawsuit they were not supposed to ask for under the conditions of the settlement. I had 3 months of constant stress and never did get it resolved thru CHW and I should be compensated for all the hassle My 3 year stint with them ends in May 2018 and I will certainly not renew with them and would not recommend them to anybody!
