Wrong prescription

What they said. State laws promote the use of generics to help keep healthcare costs down, and have for many decades. Most states require prescription pads that indicate that generics should be used whenever possible unless the prescriber specifically indicates a brand must be dispensed. The pharmacy would be breaking the law to do otherwise. If you want brand name, say so when you drop it off or have your doctor mark the script "brand medically necessary" for you. The onus is on you. Take responsibility for yourself and quit whining.

And we give you the generic UNLESS the DOCTOR or PATIENT asks otherwise. You can have the brand IF you are willing to pay for it.

PS...if you want only brand names, then tell them when you drop off the scripts.

your doctor MUST write in the initials " DAW" (dispense as written) in order for any pharmacy to give you exactly what the prescription is written for. without the DAW - you will always get a generic.

Wrong prescription

The CVS Pharmacy at Pismo Beach, CA gave me a generic medicine instead of what was written Vicodin ES- without any employee giving/asking information if I like generic or the brand name! This is a deliberate and blatant error that CVS always does all the time no matter where the location is! It seems like they have a horrendous customer service. They have to present to customers a copy of the FDA and state law regarding non-refundable pharmacy transactions so customers will know if the pharmacy has the right to substitute medicines without any knowledge of the customer nor their doctors giving the prescription.

on the script there is a box that the doctor has to check that says, "this medication will be filled with generic unless checked" if the doctor did not check the box then the pharmacy will fill it with generic...that is just how it goes, the pharmacy did nothing wrong, if you wanted name brand then tell your doctor to check the box
