The first time I went to apply for my maternity benefit was in the first week of August . I had lots of problems to get 1 UI19 from a previous company I was employed by, being told by the Labour Official Nathan Ogle from Phoenix Labour Department that he will not be able to process my maternity benefits without that 1 form. I had to run around heavily pregnant to get it, once I got it and submitted it, he told me that everything is in the process of getting approved . I then kept checking my bank account to see if I received any payment from Labour Department after 1week, I checked again after 2weeks passed still no payment, after the 3rd week and still no payment. I then went back to them and asked why I wasn't paid the 1st benefit, and was told that my banking details we're incorrect . I was then given another banking form to fill, which I had to travel back to Durban central to get filled out, and spend taxi fare to go back again to submit this form. I then waited another 2 weeks to see if a payment was made and still nothing in my bank account . I then called them at their offices to get some answers , I was then told by another Labour Official Kubeshen Govender that their is a delay in payments all over South Africa. Another 2 weeks have passed and there is still no payment made by Labour Department . It is now 2 month's and I am struggling financially because of all these excuses. I have put up with too many excuses from these Labour department officials Nathan Ogle and Kubeshen Govender. Seems to me like Labour department and their workers Nathan and Kubeshen are clearly not interested in upholding their commitment to the public , just pretending to help bit in fact are not helping at all, and just want to sit on their asses and get paid at the end of every month not concerned about the the people they serve who might be starving due to their pathetic work practice and not to mention the newborn babies that need things bought for them but because of this department they will have to ho with out their essential needs. I am so disgusted by this department and Nathan and Kubeshen . These officials should be punished for their behavior. The extent of my anger and disgust, makes me want to visit Wendy Knowler from East Coast Radio Consumer Watch, so she may name and shame who deserves it across South Africa .
