Lawsuit against them

They LIED to me that if I paid my bill via online bill pay it was the SAME as paying on their site - but it isn't. I paid my bill on the day it was due, from my online bill pay, but they cut my service anyway, so I had to pay AGAIN to get service restored WITH THE EXPRESS PROMISE THEY WOULD REFUND THE $$ W/IN 10 DAYS.

Well, you can guess -no refund. Instead, they CREDITED my directtv account! when I called they had the BALLS to tell me they would cut a check and it would be to me ... within 10 days.

I've lost 20 days of interest on $200 because DIRECTTV LIES about how they receive and post payments then DRAG their arses getting my money back. I've been a customer since 1999 and they are starting to SUCK

Poor quality DVR

we here at DirectTV pride ourselves on failure
even a lsight summer breeze can alter reception through our equipment
we recommend moving to a location that has no rain, wind, snow, or weather of any kind

Poor quality DVR

After waiting a year for tonight's Kennedy Center Honors program to record on Direct TV's DVR system it was disappointing to see static and skips in the recording leaving an unusable copy. Is there anyway Direct TV can provide a copy of this unique and long awaited program? It rained and snowed here earlier so the satelite system failed AGAIN. Is there any recourse?

Terrible experience

I am the owner of a duplex complex in Clayton, NC. My duplex renters have Direct TV. During installation, your technician drilled through the foundation vent causing damage that allows insect to get underneath the house and also cold air to get underneath the house and freeze the pipes in cold weather. Also damage was done to the shingles while putting the dish on the roof which has caused some water damage. I would like to know if you have had this complaint from any other home owner.

Terrible experience

I have been through 3 technicians and 22 customer service people and have been on the phone for 4 hours today just to get our direct t.v. at our new address. for what we have been through i believe that our direct should be free. they have also made unauthorized withdraws from our accounts. i am frustrated i want to talk to someone not an idiot that transfers me evey 5 minutes

"I was forced to move out of my home due to my drop in income and my account went into collections with Direct TV. One day after Christmas direct tv charged my debit card and wiped my account clean. My account had $377 in it. I called to get some understanding on why they felt that it was ok to debit from my account without my authorization and I was told that the bill states that they have the right. I asked for a copy of my bill and the supervisor became very nasty with me. All the customer service reps (except on in billing) were not professional but the supervisor was the worst of them all. I asked for a copy of the bill because they blocked me from viewing my bills online. The supervisor basically dismissed me and told me to send the billing office a hand written letter which will take days to resolve and now I don't have any money. I don't know if this is legal for them to do this to people. I've read some recent reviews about peoples accounts being wiped out the day before Christmas. Is there anything I can do? Can I file a suit or something? I feel like I can't get through to anybody and they are totally nasty and won't give you any information about the corporate office. If only the customer service reps can understand that sometimes people are going through financial issues and just need a friendly voice. To wipe some one's account out around the holidays or any time for that matter is just unacceptable."

False advertisement, wrong billing, poor customer service

este comentaria es en spanish porque tambien a nosotro nos transan los de directv. no he tenido mas que problemas con ellos su servicio es muy pobre y ni en su officina tienen mi informacion corecta despues de 3 meses tienen mi direccion incorecta no llega el reenbolso de costco a pero eso si para cobrar son buenos nunca firmare otro comtrato con ellos y no pierdo tiempo en hablar mal de ellos con gente que conosco en my company los consen bien

rebate referals 50/50 visa cards

I responded to the Direct Tv hook-up through my daughter for a 50 dollar referal for each of us, then I refered my cousin for the same deal. We called and maile in the referal form. They are telling us now that we don't qualify because Direct Star Tv hooked us up and we were suposed to call an 866 number to get our rebates. We were not told that in the begining and it is not our fault that they sub the connecting work out to Direct Star Tv company. WE WANT OUR $50 rebate visa cards.

rebate referals 50/50 visa cards

We got screwed too!! We were swayed to change from Dish Network to Direct TV. Part of the promises included getting a $100 in visa reward cards to offset the equipment charges that we would have in switching. I was told by a Direct TV representative to go on line download the form and fill it out. After downloading the form I saw that it was a referral program. I called Direct TV back and said, "I'm not referring anyone"? how can this work for me. They assured me this was the form and to put my name and address on both sides of the form and I would get two $50 Visa cards sent to me. After 8 months I decided to call to check on the status. Now for some reason I was directed to Direct StarTV. They said my request was denied because it was fraudulent having signed both sided and wasn't referring anyone! Well No SH#T!!! I questioned that in the beginning! After an hour complaining on the phone I got nowhere with Dirett StarTV or with Direct TV. Lied to AGAIN! Nobody will help me at all! Live and learn! Please contact me if a Class Lawsuit is made against these liars! I want on the band wagon!!!

Took money from my account for 2 years & 8 months without giving service

About April 2005, I closed my account with directv. Directv reactivated my account without my permission on July 16, 2005 and started taking money from me from September 22, 2005 up to May 22, 2008, $58.97 per month. I found out because of the collection credit report they made on me as if I had owned them $161.95. Very upset, when I challenged directv, agent Paul told me how much and for how long they have been taking from my account for a service I never received, and on an address that I have already sold the house and have closed and discontinued my directtv account; and they are still giving me the run around. Worst of all, Eric, a supervisor, after admitting and telling me that he would resolve it sooner than I expected it, he wrote a different note on my account saying it is to be sent to the dispute department. It is most shameful how they are taking money fraudulently and not being honest to what they are saying, and falsely reporting against ones credit.

Took money from my account for 2 years & 8 months without giving service

They charged us the exact same amount-after we cancelled (2 days into our service!) and they said nothing is due. I disputed it w/my credit card agency...but not before they sent an email saying we never returned the equipment. I'm going to call back today to make sure they aren't going to charge us for "unreturned equipment". I still want to know why I would want to keep their equipment if I cancelled service. Duh.

Refuse to send return labels

We are active military, came down on orders, had to move, canceled direct tv, we now have to return the receivers. I have had them packed up now for a month (today is July 6th) and am still waiting on the labels, I call EVERY day am on hold for at least 30 minutes and am being lied to about them labels getting here the very next day or better even overnight. Today I was threatened that we had to pay for the receivers, needless to say no fed ex van here with any labels.

Their customer torture"service" is the worst I EVER experienced they never put a supervisor on without making me wait for another 20 minutes (which I don't have), they flatout LIE to you we will NEVER go with Direct TV again worst experience with any company ever.

Refuse to send return labels

My comments to direct tv wouldnt be printed.8 years as a customer. Got charged fora down grade. Now watching Macys parad4e on DISH. Great severice, great pictures and more channels for half the price.. Really appreciate the address cause Directs crap is packed and ready to go. Got fe.d up with the phone calls and no way to cancel by e mail. They know to discontinue severice when they get their crap back. As for bills, send one to Direct for every day they use the dish on your house for advertising.

Rip-off!!!

Who knew that every time you call for service Direct TV renews your contract for two more years? They never tell you, then claim it's a "third party verification". What is that? In addition $300 was charged to a credit card account WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION!!! I have been reading these complaints and wish that there would be some kind of class action suit. I can't believe they have an excuse for gouging innocent people, for terrible service. I have filed a complaint with the dept of consumer affairs. I am ready to go to the media!!

Rip-off!!!

Direct TV bills in advance monthly...if you have service interruption you have NO recourse for the days the service is OFF!!! If you do not pay the month in advance, Direct TV will interrupt your service and charge you a $35.00 reconnection fee!!! They offer new customers (victims) specials like $29.99 per month for 12 months with HD/DVR Receivers for 'Free' until you sign the contract...then they let you in on the small print, ie, equipment rental, is your credit worthy...If you have below perfect credit you will be billed $600.00 to pay for the complimentary equipment. I have only 3 more payments at 191.00 per month for the $29.99 sign up special that I contracted for 21 months ago, bringing my total investment to almost $3000.00 for two years of low quality, 85% up and running time, and no local news!!! Oh yeah, they have local and major network channels that is an additional 25.00 per month f you wish to get local news and major sporting events...Don't even get me started on their NFL "Specials"!!! Oh yeah...if you disagree with their scam they WILL hit your credit for not honoring your contract...even though they have never honored their end of the "bargain".Take it from someone who has suffered for two years with Direct Satellite TV!!! Get CABLE!

Fees

We were fed up with ridiculous cable prices and started looking into Direct TV. We asked in advance about cancellation fees and what happens if we move (they told us we have to bring the dish and boxes with us and have them reinstalled at our new home...the contract must continue for 2 years). Ok. Well, to us it was worth the reduction in price (went from a $90/month cable fee to $40/month DIrect TV).

We don't have our box hooked up to a phone line so we need to call in our OnDemand orders or do them online. When we first signed up...we could just go online and download a movie to our DVR. NOW...they require you to buy an $80 internet box so you can download movies via the internet. Ok...so I thought I will just call them. There is now a TRANSACTION FEE to download via the phone. As if that isn't bad enough...there is also now a FEE to talk to a representative! ...and get this, it is a $1.50 fee to talk to the AUTOMATED system and a $5 FEE to talk with a live person!!!

I am FURIOUS!!! I can't imagine how this company is still in business with all these poor business practices. This is the most fraudulent company I have ever dealt with.

I wish I stuck with cable...

I hope this helps some other poor schmuck who is considering switching due to price...because in the end, DIRECT TV COSTS MORE THAN CABLE.

Fees

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with you! I have had a terrible ordeal with Direct TV..never knowing what my actual bill is. They charge you in advance and turn you off if you won't pay in advance. Who ever heard of a service company charging before they performed the service. Then when the satellite goes off at least 3 times a month...you have paid for a service that you didn't receive. If you inquire about an adjustment to the lack of service, they will inform you that the only adjustments that can be made is if there is technical difficulty on their end...which it never is...They blame it on acts of nature. But watch how attractive and easy they make it to sign on...then just wait for the bill...equipment rental that you think was "free" as part of their sign on deal. For a $29.99 SPECIAL for 12 months = $360.00...So far, I have paid $191.00 per month and we do not order movies nor have any premiums...only 3 more payments to go...then Hello, CABLE! NO DIRECT TV!!! There needs to be a Federal Investigation...UH-OH...we are %#$&ed!!!

2 year contract

I signed with Qwest for a bundled tv, Internet, and direct tv package a year ago. Now having money problems, I needed to cancel most of this. With qwest all went well. When I tried to cancel with direct tv they informed me that I had a 2 year contract. I explained to them that I had bundled through quest and didn't have a 2 year contract. They informed me that quest doesn't but they have one. I said I set it all up through quest. Their reply was that when the technician installed the direct tv and I signed for it, there was in small print a paragraph about 2 year contract. Is this shady or what? Can't afford my bills now and they are telling me that I owe an early disconnect fee. I have looked through my paper work and don't show a copy of any of this. Why can't legit companies be up front anymore? Wish we could go back to the old antenna programming. Where I live we cannot get any tv without satellite. Not even cable.

you can suspend your directtv account for up to 6 months at a time with no charge a nice way to avoid term fees and let you get back on your feet money wise

I started my service with Direct tv through AT&T in April of this year because I wanted combined billing for my TV, cell, Landline, and internet. I was not told that this combination would take up to two months. In the mean time my bill was higher at AT&T and I thought it was the addition of Direct tv. I get a bill in the mail from Direct and called to cancel because the bill had not combined. They talked me into keeping the account and paying the account to a zero balance. I was told by direct when the account was "caught up", the billing would combine with AT&T. IT NEVER DID!! I down graded the service and put the account into my husbands name (we separated for a few months) and I moved out. He wanted to keep the service since I couldn't move the service where I moved(my daughter's house) because they already have the service. I have never signed a contract with Direct tv, everything was established through AT&T. I was expecting an exception paycheck to get my bills caught up and when I checked my account, Direct tv has taked $652.71 from my account, unauthorized! I called and they told me "since I paid the bill with my debit card, that gave them authorization to take the balance in full. OK, I can let that slide. I never authorized them to take the early cancellation fees associated with this account. I was not aware of the charges until I called them to shut the service off. I was told, at that time, about this additional charge. This has been overwhelming for me and I would like to sue the pants off of direct tv, but I am like everyone else in this nation, I don't have the money. The worst costumer service EVER!!! They took $994 out of my checking account and have not refunded back my money since 9/10/2011. They keep giving me new excuses and wont fix the problem. The CSR reps never know anything and every single one that I speak to give me different information EVER TIME!!! Do not use them!!! I have installation set up and they missed up 2 times and seemed not to be able to get a tech out to my correct address. DIRECT TV is BAD SERVICE do NOT sign the contract!!

Direct TV is so sneaky, they tell you anything and you cannot hold them to it. Their rebates are false. They tell you that you have them and then they do not follow up with it. I ams so sorry that I did not record my phone calls with them. It is all a lscam. Then they want you to pay to cancel . If I were an attorney I know I could make big bucks with all the false advertising and complaints that people have against them...

Billing dispute!

I canceled my service with Direct TV last week because I got married and moved in with my husband and today I found an unauthorized charge on my bank account, I don't even have direct pay with this company nor was I under a contract although they claim I was because they sent me a replacement for a faulty DVR which they say automatically extended my contract without my knowledge. They closed my complaint without contacting me and then they wrote on my account that I knew about the extension which was completely false. They then charged me an early cancellation fee and took the money out of my bank account without my knowledge or authorization. I believe this should be a criminal offense for them to take money out of my account without my authorization.

Billing dispute!

Direct TV will keep your card # after you cancel with them because of reception problems, and having to call to take wrong charges off your bill month after month, then they will scam you and charge later for early cancelling or some of the other hundreds of scams they have! when none is at all your fault. They are the slickest crooks ever. Better than Madoff.
