My sufferings at Birmingham International Airport on 26th May 2012 from Birmingham to Dubai Flight (flight no.EK 040 ) also suffered a financial loss which I never faced in my life.
I had a flight to Dhaka via Dubai (Flight No EK 040 on 26th May 2012).I had some excesses luggage. But behaviors of check in counter officials (one sheik and one local) were rough and they did not allow baggage beyond 30 kg (As per our ticket our limit was 30kg). I have no complain about it. But before boarding on the plane I faced a horrible experience that I never faced my life (I visited more than 25 countries). The official (might be airport manager of Emirates) took weight of my hand (cabin) baggage and found weight is more than 7.5 kg and also I had a small shoulder (haversack) bag and jackets in my hand. He said you cannot take more than 7.5 kg in total. I said I have a laptop computer in my hand luggage and I bought some chocolates from duty free shop at airport. The officials said you can take only 7.5 kg and within 3 minutes you have to pay for extra weight or reduce your weight otherwise I will off load your luggage because flight will be delayed. At that stage I argued with him but he did not allow anything so hastily I had to remove some of belonging including one black leather jacket, clothing, chocolates, etc. But unfortunately while fixing my luggage within in a short time I lost some valuable items.
Previously I had traveled quite few times with Emirates but never faced such a situation. Before this flight I had always a good experience about Emirates flight. But that flight was really awful that never happened in my life.
I sent few mails/letter to Emirates officials but Emirates just sent replies with apologies but replies were not fully convincing to me.Even I do not know what action Emirates had taken against the concerned persons .
