Etihad Airways ,Staff & Airport Desk

Being seasoned travellers for the past 35 years, we are sad to inform you that your Airline staff & Policies are well below par with your rivals. Let us elaborate our dealings with your company........
Having been barred from boarding our connecting flight from Abu Dhabi to Athens, with no announcement made , our plane blatantly standing before us, we proceeded to the service desk to organise a connecting flight. The staff at the desk informed us that we could not catch a connecting flight on the same day......
To be noted: 1: We were informed our fine for this leg of the journey would be approximately $1000Aud each( For aflight the following day).
2: We were not informed that our connecting flights would not be honoured if we did not continue our journey with Etihad, during this , the second leg of a 4 leg journey. ( Separated by a 5 month period)
3:We were charged by Etihad the sum of 2580 Dhs ( Approximately $950 for the unloading of our luggage at Abu Dhabi.
4. After pleaing with 2 desks at Abu Dhabi Airport and clearly stating we had no option but to arrive at Athens on the same day, rather than a day late, we were not shown any understanding, nor taken seriously by ANY Staff member, ( Including managers)
5. After calling Etihad 4 days prior to our departure date( Third leg of our journey,5 moths later), Seeing our reservation still online, via Ethads Websight, we were informed( By a telephone staff member in Manchester) we would need to pay $ 1000 Aud each, once again for our flight home........
6. When calling the Etihad office in Athens for reconfirmation that this was in fact ,the case, we were led to believe our return flight was booked with no extra cost necessary,,,,,,,,,
Taking this series of events into consideration, we came to the conclusion that Ethad Airways are a disorganised, incompitent , Airline who make rules they cannot even keep track of..... and that we will take this matter to our higher powers upon our arrival back in Australia..........
It grieves us to make this complaint, but we were blatantly not a' NO SHOW', as categorised conveniently by the staff at Abu Dhabi Airport.........Having read many horror stories to the same effect ......
Money is not the be all or end all of existence.........There is such a thing as DECENCY & COMPASSION.....
Our advice is that your Airline & Staff consider this.......On a serious basis..

Money stolen on flight

I feel it is my duty to report this incident to Etihad.
My son,, was on a flight on 7th September, 2016 from Abu Dhabi to San Francisco Flight No.EY183, dep. 02.25 in seat No.8C, Business Class. When he arrived in San Francisco and after reaching his hotel, he realised that $ 1000 was missing from his passport folder which was in the zip pocket of his carry on luggage which was stored in the bin above his seat. It is absolutely shocking that while passengers are asleep, specially when it is a long flight of 16 hours, and an early morning flight at 2.25 am, that money is stolen from your hand luggage. It is highly doubtful that a passenger would steal from a fellow passenger in the Business class, specially as he was in the small cabin of business class.
I would appreciate if you could thoroughly investigate who was the crew on this flight and make inquiries, as it is very disturbing to think that money is being stolen while you sleep on a flight with Etihad
Please do respond and keep me in touch on the investigation that is being done. May I also suggest that aircrafts should have CC TV coverage inside the cabins which would be the safety for all.

Missed flight even after boarding 2 hours prior to departure

My name is Syed Abdul I had planned to travel to my home country to celebrate Eid holidays back home. I was travelling through Etihad Airways flight EY7605 today morning that is 23rd Sept 2015. I completed the boarding process at Terminal 1 around 6.35 AM as given in the ticket. I then went to terminal 3 where I saw a huge line in the immigration. I completed te immigration and rushed towards gate number 50 which was almost 15 minutes walking distance away. I reached at gate 50 around 15 minutes before the flight time and to my shock I was told the gate is already closed and I have missed the flight. I requested many time as I still had 15 minutes remaining. The official said the flight is already on the bay and its not possible now. He also informed me that my luggage was already offloaded back in terminal one. There was no announcement made to call my name. Even if they did... it could not be heard in immigration area which was almost half a km away from gate #50. There was no communication or coordination with Etihad staff at all even after my status showing on boarding in the system. I went to transfer desk cleared the immigration collected my luggage which took at least 2 hours in the airport. I went to Etihad Airline office where the officer was gentle enough to give clear advice but informed me that if I am travelling to the next flight in the after noon I have to pay double the cost of the ticket as the fair difference approximate AED 2,200. I asked him to book the flight for next day afternoon instead where I had to pay AED 650 difference. I left the airport almost at 11.00 AM.

My harassment was not over here. I went to city terminal in Abu Dhabi to board the same luggage one day prior to be safe. A lady by name Sherry said I have 1 KG excess luggage which was really ridiculous as my luggage was sealed and was difficult to open. I told this is the same luggage which was boarded this morning. I repeatedly requested her to accept. But she still refused for any kind of help. I told her I need to talk to the floor manager. She rudely informed me they do not have floor manager to seek any kind of assistance. Trust me I was really frustrated. She forced me to reduce one KG which I did. I had to remove a pair of jeans from my luggage. I usually travel through Air Arabia from Sharjah and may be this was 2nd time I was travelling though Etihad / Jet Airlines which gave me a life time bitter experience. I would never travel through Etihad / Jet Airways now neither I would refer to my friends or colleagues.

My money were Stolen on Etihad Flight

I travelled on 24/12/2014 on Etihad flight no. EY 513 and during the flight, I was subject to a theft incident of an amount of AED 27000 in cash.

I was carrying a cash amount of AED 29800 in a wallet kept inside my brown handbag. I had safely locked my handbag in the locker that is located over my seat and fell asleep for most of the flight's time. After landing, I noticed that there was only AED 2800 left in my wallet.

After filing a claim at the airport security and the criminal investigation department, I have been informed that I need to contact Etihad. I tried many times to seek Etihad's investigation and assistance in catching the criminal perhaps through the passenger flight list and cooperation with concerned entities in the UAE or any other action that can lead to restoring my hard earned money, but with no luck at all.

I am in utter disbelief that such an incident can take place on board the reputable airline of Etihad. Whenever I fly Etihad I have full confidence in its security measures, travel standards and service but now, I am left with dissappointments

I am currently left in a very difficult situation and my holiday is ruined due to the loss of all my money and nothing can compensate me for this financial difficulty!

Delay and unfriendly/unsupportive service

29.01.15 flight 8:20am delayed due to snow, left on plane without announcements for 5 hours!!!!
Transferred to hotel - left standing in show (children freezing) whilst waiting to board coach to hotel. Informed staff to head count people onto coaches to enable speedier boarding - ignored by staff.
Hotel everyone not knowing what is happening.
Buffet tea by hotel - free for all.
11pm returned to all aboard plane ready - runway clear. 11:26 plane reverses, stops, returns to parking position. No announcement. 11:38 announce runway being cleared of snow.
00:50 TAKE OFF in heavy snow!
During first 5 hours of waiting, offered water and two biscuits!
During 2nd period of waiting, staff started to offer water and biscuits again, they were told to give passengers (by me) hot drinks and sandwiches as some of us had now gone 24 hours without food. Sandwiches came out hot on edges and cold in the middle, in fact some sandwiches were still frozen.
Staff did appear to give a dam about our situation. Formal complaint to follow

flight transfer

Hi my name is David Richards i recently flew with ETIHAD AIRWAYS to UK from Australia return on my return journey we were late leaving Manchester so we arrived late in ABU DHABI we were stuck on the plane waiting for the ground staff to put stairs in place 30 min exactly then a bus took us to gate 9 which took about 20 min, by the time i got off the bus i hat to run to get my connecting flight to Sydney which was gate 60. I am not happy with the way this was handled as i was looking forward to a break in flights so i could do some duty free shopping . other than this stuffup i enjoyed my flights with ETIHAD AIRWAYS my wife and i will be flying to UK next year and we will again use your airway and hopefully will not get stuffed around with flight transfers this time .

Rude Cabin Attendant

To ETIHAD AIRWAYS COMPLAINT DIVISION: We would like to make a complaint regarding the ineptitude and rude behavior of one of your cabin attendants. I, my wife and our 2 year old daughter were on the EY17 flight from Abu Dhabi to Heathrow on Feb.11, 2011. One of your cabin attendants by the name of Laura (blonde haired lady) was asked by my wife if she could have some milk for our 2 year old daughter and she just simply answered her with a short "NO, I dont have it." and didnt even offer to give the baby an alternative drink if indeed milk was not available.

When she was giving out food for all passengers, she had prior to that forgotten to give my wife a menu card, and offered my wife only the choice of lasagna as she said that all other options were not available in her cart. My wife asked her if she could please check if there were any alternatives as she does not take well to cheese and dairy products but the blond haired cabin attendant just cut her short before she could finish her sentence and gave her an annoyed look and simply said, "No. This is all I have." and a brash, "I'll come back when you've made up your mind." and just could not be bothered to assist us. The row behind us was offered alternative meals by another cabin attendant after Laura the flight attendant had just told us that there was nothing else available.

When trash was due to be collected from the eating trays, she came to pick our trash but only took the glasses and small tray out but left some of the crumpled tissue paper and bread crumbs behind so we had to call another flight attendant to clear the rest up. Another time, we caught her walking away from another passenger who requested something from her and she was shaking her head as she walked away. And another time she was serving drinks to all passengers (row by row) and did not even bother to ask my wife whether she wanted anything to drink fully knowing that we had a baby with us. We paid full price for our 2 year old daughter as well. Luckily for us, there was a male cabin attendant that was more helpful and more sympathetic and eventually gave us something to drink and eat. But the first cabin attendant (Laura was the name on her badge) was just rude and appeared annoyed everytime we would ask her for something and we dont think it was unreasonable to ask her for milk for the baby or an alternative menu, we are paying customers and well within our rights to do so.

Her way of just cutting short a customer while they are still speaking we found was very inappropriate especially since the nature of her job is in a service industry. We've flown on many airlines like Emirates, Qatar, Cathay Pacific, KLM, my wife, especially, being a journalist, is a frequent traveller and has commented that this is the first time that she has encountered such poor service from a cabin attendant that just didnt want to know or care. She seemed annoyed and impatient and just simply apathetic to our needs. On the whole, we were just disappointed and insulted by her behaviour and service; and as 3 paying customers, we just expected a little more "politeness" from staff. She made my wife feel like a second class citizen and did not seem to care whether our baby daughter had any milk to drink or not. If not for the male cabin attendant that was more helpful, our whole trip with Etihad would have been such a miserable one.

Rude Cabin Attendant

I do not understand moms with infants who do not bring whatever their babies will need during such a long flight. Be responsible or leave your child at home. For his sake! Etihad did not promise you milk or pads or whatnot. As Charlieboy77 said, cabin crew are there to take you safely from point A to point B. Aircraft is not a restaurant!! It is a closed pressurized tube flying at 40 thousand feet packed with up to 400 people. If all people start demanding something, it will be a mess!!! Plus, it is like anywhere else... you stress people, you get what you gave - garbage in- garbage out. Do not demand, but be nice and you will see how cabin crew's attitude will change.
