Denied by TeleCheck
TeleCheck declined my request to add my checking account to the Speedpass mobile app, saying they have “no data” about my account. No other reason to decline my transaction. No bounces checks, AAA credit rating, and no financial issues. It seems TeleCheck refuses checks for lack of "data". Since I rarely use a check at a store, there is no record of my check cashing and so I’m refused.
I asked what I could do to resolve this, and was told “I don’t know, and to try resubmitting my request. I’ve heard they also suggest that people in this same situation start writing checks instead of using a credit card, so their (TeleCheck) data files will get updated. These suggestions are ridiculous!
I was not offered a way to dispute their decision by the person on the phone, nor did she offer to send me anything or provide a phone number to help me resolve this. I even asked to speak with a supervisor, but she refused, saying they all work from the same database.
I can’t believe this company has the power they do to decline transactions at will, basing it on nothing more than lack of data in their own database. There should laws protecting US citizens from this type of financial misrepresentation.
