TERMINATED FOR BEING UNAVAILABLE ON DAY OFF
I WAS EMPLOYED AT FAMILY DOLLAR #10899 LOCATED IN BOUSE, AZ. ON 9/8/2021 AFTER GOING ON SHIFT AT 4:30PM, WAS INFORMED BY MANAGER CHARLIE, THAT I HAD TO COME IN THE FOLLOWING MORNING AT 8AM. I TOLD HER I WASN'T ABLE TO WORK, DUE TO AN EMERGENCY SITUATION I HAD SCHEDULED TO TAKE CARE OF ON THAT DATE, AS I WAS SCHEDULED OFF FOR 9/9, 9/10, AND 9/11. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS MANDATORY THAT I BE THERE; AND I AGAIN EXPLAINED THAT I HAD NO OPTION, I HAD TO TAKE CARE OF THE INSURANCE CLAIM THAT I HAD JUST GOTTEN APPROVAL ON AFTER WAITING A WEEK, SINCE HAVING A CAR LOOSE CONTROL AND LEAVE THE HIGHWAY, PLOW THROUGH MY FENCE AND INTO MY HOUSE. SHE WAS AWARE OF INCIDENT AS SHE SAW IT HAPPEN AND WAS THE FIRST ONE TO NOTIFY ME ON 9/2/21 OF THE ACCIDENT. MY HOUSE HAS BEEN UNSECURED SINCE PENDING ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY BY THE DRIVERS INSURANCE COMPANY. THAT TOOK PLACE THE AFTERNOON OF 9/8/21. I SCHEDULED THE CLAIMS PROCESS FOR THE FOLLOWING MORNING ON MY DAY OFF. I ALSO CAME INTO THE STORE LOCATION AT 7 AM ON 9/9 TO ADDRESS THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF NOT BEING AVAILABLE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS BEING MANDATED, WITH LESS THAN 18 HRS NOTICE. I EXPLAINED THAT IF MY PLANS WERE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE EMERGENCY CONDITIONS, I WOULD HAVE BEEN GLAD TO CHANGE MY PLANS. BUT WITH THE WALL OF MY HOME WIDE OPEN TO ALL THAT WANTS TO COME IN, AND THE COOLING TO GO OUT AT 110+ DEGREES, BEING UNABLE TO COOK OR REFRIGERATE MY FOOD, DUE TO THE APPLIANCES BEING LOCATED AT THE POINT OF IMPACT. I FELT THAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE VALID, TO BE ALLOWED AN EXCEPTION TO THE MANDATED SHIFT. CHARLIE INFORMED ME I HAD UNTIL 10AM TO BE THERE OR DON'T BOTHER COMING IN. I CLARIFIED WHAT SHE MEANT, BY ASKING HER DO YOU MEAN JUST TODAY OR FOREVER? SHE SAID FOREVER, IF I WASN'T THERE IN THAT 2 HRS, THEN I DIDN'T HAVE A JOB. I ABSOLUTELY FEEL THAT THIS IS WRONG AT EVERY LEVEL, ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE KNOWS FIRST HAND THAT IT WAS A VERY REAL AND VALID REASON. I TOLD HER, WHEN SHE KEPT THAT HER BOSS SAID EVERYONE WAS TO BE ON DECK, NO EXCUSES. I ASKED HER IF HE WAS TRULY SO NARROW MINDED THAT HE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THAT THE CIRCUNSTANCES WERE OF AN EMERGENCY STATUS. HER ONLY RESPONSE WAS, I AM GIVING YOU 2 HRS TO FILE EVERYTHING NEEDED TO PROVE THE CLAIM, LINE UP CONTRACTORS TO GET ESTIMATES, ALL OF WHICH HAVE TO HAPPEN BEFORE YOU CAN START ANY REPAIRS. I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO SHOWING THE CAR IN MY WALL, BUT THE OTHER PHOTOS SHOWING THE INSIDE DAMAGES ARE TOO LARGE TO ATTACH. BUT I BELIEVE THAT VERIFIES AND ENFORCES MY POINT..
