GE Washer Model #GTWN5650F1WS

I bought this washer in February 2014. The washer has worked for a few years without any major issues. Then the washer began shutting off mid cycle. I purchased a 5-year warranty and had Sears come out to repair. The first guy replaced the fuse.
Washer worked fine for a few weeks, then again, began shutting down mid wash cycle.

The second repair person told me that it was shutting down bc the washer could only handle half of the clothes/towels that a one would normally put in (?). For example, he said if I was doing a large load of towels, I should only wash 2 towels at a time (seriously?). He said that the "new" HE washers, though they still advertise large loading capacities, they can "really" only handle about half of the size loads. He said that was why it was shutting down.

Well, two days later, the washer was doing a tiny load and it shut down again during the wash cycle, shortly after water fill.

Very disappointed! Will NOT likely buy GE again.

Required major part change 2X in less than 3 years

Bought a brand new top-loading GE washer in Oct 2013. The washer motor and clutch package had to be replaced in Aug 2015 (less than 2 years later and out of 1 year warranty period). Motor and clutch was installed by GE Consumer Home Services and, part only, was guaranteed for 5 years.... Motor and clutch package went out again this month, Jul 2016, less than a year after it was replaced the first time.

After keeping me on hold several times during a 43 minute phone call, they said they would honor the free part replacement but problem motor had to be verified by their technicians (price for service call/labor $95.95) who wouldn't be available for 10days!!! Then it would be another 4 days for the part to come in and another labor fee/service call for the technician to install the part.

A good quality appliance does NOT require major part replacement twice in less than 3 years. Talking to GE Consumer Relations is the same experience as listening to Ferris Bueller's monotone Economic teacher. Forcing consumers to do without the ability to wash clothes for 14 days (10 days to get their personal techs out and another 4 for required part to arrive) is arrogant and unsympathetic. This IS my first and last GE appliance. Amazing that GE makes military weapons, they can't even make a washing machine last 3 years.
