On 5 January 2018 I was at home and heard a chainsaw in my yard. A bucket truck had been used to lift men over my fence. My tree had been cut and most put through the chipper. My fence was locked with a warning sign on it. I have maintained and paid tax on this tree and area for over 40 years. Since no one had spoke or contacted me in anyway I can only assume they were trespassing.This was confirmed later by letter from, Rob Stein , Claims & Litigation Specialist.
Maybe this tree could have been trimmed. If the tree had to be cut, I would have cut it and used the wood. I do woodwork. I not only lost a 50 year old cedar tree, I lost all the wood. Again no one contacted me.
On 10 Jan 2018 my fence was cut, a new pole installed and fence put back with wire ties. Again without contacting me.
I bought this property in 1973. I maintained and paid taxes on it for over 40 years, there was no problem until now.
The information furnished to me states, Georgia Power has a Right Of Way 35 feet from the center line of State Highway #1 (Same as US Hwy 27). The tree was 45 feet from center line. This would not give them authority to cut my tree. I may need to get another opinion but it looks like Georgia Power was trespassing.
Georgia Power has not been very professional.
