in February 2020, My mother in-law has been struggling to claim her deceased daughter who passed on in 2019 November. in February 2020 she went to the labour department in Verulam KZN to register a claim , she was given form to fill and bring back what was required like copies of ID and death certificate. she returned forms in March 2020 and she was told that offices are closed due to lockdown and Covid 19. she went back to submit forms and those forms where taken including the UI19 which was completed by the employer.
she was given 6 weeks to come back and check the status of claim should she not have received . on 2 August she went in to check only to be told the form UI19 need to be filled. The company was shut down after covid and the manager says they cant help now since the company is closed. she wrote an affidavits explaining that the company has been closed and the manager refuse to fill the forms.
she was told she must try and get hold of the company because Labour wont be able to help if we have not find the employer.
to whom must we complain too. cause she was a contributing member of the UIF fund.
