Personal Training Camcellation

I am filing a complaint against GoodLife and its Personal Trainers.

I cancelled sessions at GoodLife and requested a refund. Yet they first delayed the cancellation of my refund, until I demanded a refund. They also didn't refund me my money. They stole my money and pretended and they returned my money.

I have seen no refund and I am going to press charges against them for theft and a disregard of my request to return my money.

The Personal Trainer in question who disregarded my requests and dismissed my cancellation, is Elena Holowitz and Chelsey Hupe. These two individuals disrespected me and disregarded my requests repeatedly. Hope made assumptions about my fitness levels, incorrectly documenting my lifestyle and misrepresented my diet and eating habits. Within the past decade, I have NEVER had high cholesterol, diabetes, or any of these indices. Yet, she racially profiled me and assumed my lifestyle because of what I look like.

In addition, she was condescending and rude, treating me, a 27-year-old working professional, as if I am a teenager. Not only is this racist and disrespectful, it is a disregard of who I am. I don't know who they mistook me for, but I know they wouldn't have spoken to someone who looked like them on that manner. Moreover, they would have processed my request, IMMEDIATELY.

Wrong Info Provided to Close Sale

I visited Goodlife Fitness at Kings Point Plaza in Brampton to sign up for personal training. At the reception and to the personal trainer Manver Gill who I spoke to I clearly mentioned I travel frequently on business and needed a personal training package that is valid for a year & that does not expire. He assured me the Foundation First for $1000 of 18 sessions does not have an expiry date and can be used at any time. I was not provided paperwork when I gave my 1st payment, no terms were explained to me. I was provided the wrong info to get the sale. So in other words Manver Gill sold me a service unethically and had no qualms about it. 4 Sessions into the program I mentioned i received these strange emails from Goodlife saying my sessions were assigned and he assured me that they were fine and I had nothing to worry about.
I will be taking this complaint to the consumer protection board & to the media so future consumers are not robbed blind.
Also after making 10 calls to Goodlife Fitness at Kings Point Plaza over several weeks the manager that runs the Fitness centre did not even return any of these calls. Would you trust doing business with such an organization that does not even return client calls.
Clearly customer service and ethics is not part of this organization.

Muscle Damage

Several months ago, I damaged my chest muscles at the Coxwell branch while personal training. To add insult to injury, my account is still being charged in spite of my request for cancellation.

I have spent several thousand dollars at the gym and now have to seek physiotherapy as my muscles have not yet healed.

How does GoodLife respond to this?

Termination Without Cause

I had worked in the Fitness Industry for 13yrs before being terminated "without cause" all because I caught a few trainers at my location forging signatures on their confirmation sheets all so they could get paid (I was the Club Administrator so all of this paperwork had to come across my desk) long story short, because I didn't bring any money into the club, and these trainers did, they swept what I found under the rug, turned a blind eye and decided to pay me out severance and termination pay all to shut me up and make me disappear. After everything happened, I sent an email to Patch (owner of the company) and Jane Riddell and guess what? 2 weeks later and STILL NO RESPONSE!!! Not really surprised because I was just another number to them and it's all about money for them. They really don't care about their staff or their members and this just goes to prove it. They used me for free publicity due to my own weight loss and they never saw an issue with that....never even offered to give me free training or any monetary funds after spending over $40,000 of my own money into personal training. Working for GoodLife really doesn't allow you to live the good life....they use and mentally/verbal & emotionally abuse you them toss you away like an old rag. I wish I discovered this sooner instead of wasting 13yrs of my life busting my butt off for a company that doesn't care about me. Because of the mistreatment by this company and staff over the years, I have suffered from depression, contemplated hurting myself after hitting rock bottom from a trainer that did more mental & emotional abuse than anything else, suffer from panic & anxiety attacks and several more horrible things. I am happy to say that I have found myself thru meditation and friends and a new job which I am extremely happy with. But GoodLife is one of the worst companies I have ever worked for and they get away with it because they have a ton of lawyers and lots of money and nobody is willing to take them on. I hope more people come forward and this company starts treating people the way they deserve to be treated.

being told missed sessions due to sickness not being charged for but money still getting taken and gym not making up missed sessions

I signed up for a personal trainer 63-66 sessions and due to a unforeseen illness that came on all of a sudden which put me into the hospital on many occasions in just over a months time where I had to do ultrasounds, many blood panels and ecgs and I even missed work due to my illness. The trainer I was working with told me that I would NOT get charged for sessions that were NOT used yet money was still coming out of my account. When I was a little bit better and got my sickness under some control I went to confront the trainer about since payments came out of my account when he told me that I wouldn't be charged I told him that I wanted the sessions made up that were missed for a month at 3 sessions per week and he refused stating that the time for those sessions had come and gone and that he was not going to give them to me. I told him that I was going to cancel the rest and that I wanted my money back for the sessions that were NOT used and he refused. I ran into another trainer that used to work there and was told that the trainer was supposed to FREEZE payments from coming out of my account until I was able to start back in the gym when I got better. When I walked into the gym for the first time I felt very pressured by the staff and especially by the personal trainer to sign up. The trainers made me feel like I was not at all ie body wise, mentally etc. The trainer even yelled and used profanity to me. I left there a few times in tears due to how I was getting treated. In fact the trainer that I was working with was even bad mouthing the company and was trying to start personal training out of his apartment building as there is a full gym there at his place. This place I found out afterwards by a few people either in person or reading online have had either the same or worse experience with this franchise. It needs to be shut down or a major overhaul on the way they are there. Definitely when a client is sick and out of the gym for a while or have to go away for a bit due to work or family vacations etc the gym especially the trainers should be made to FREEZE any money coming out of their clients account until they are back in the gym working with them. Like what would happen if someone got sicker than I did which my sickness can start up at anytime as it is ongoing and permanent and had to do chemo or even found out they were pregnant during this personal trainer time and couldn't come back until the drs allowed it or until after the baby is born. The client should not have to pay until they are able to come back and they should be able to start up where they left off at meaning they should NOT have to pay extra to get the sessions they missed due to being sick, work etc. There should be a refund for the sessions that were NOT used because services were not used and not made up for. I will never use this gym again and I will forewam people against using it too.
